Page 2 September/October 2014 Tournament & Exhibition Centre Setting up Account for the 2014-2015 Season All teams choosing to participate in tournaments or exhibition games must create a profile for their team in the Tournament & Exhibition Centre through the MHL website. A new account must be set up every season and can only be created by one designated person on the team. This individual will be responsible for doing all of the permit applications for the entire season. To set up a team account, go to the MHL website (www.hockey.on.ca) and click on Promotion & Events and then on Tournament Permits. Click on the link provided. You will then click on Go To Team Registration and fill out the information requested. Once the profile for your team has been created, you will have the ability to submit permit applications for both Exhibition games and for Tournament permits. Please be sure you have the correct team number entered for your team s profile. All MHL teams will need to have an approved tournament permit or approved exhibition permit for all Hockey Canada sanctioned tournaments and exhibition games. If a team is using an exemption for a tournament, travel days must be taken into consideration. For example, the schedule may show your A team is playing on Monday and Wednesday of a particular week that you are going to a tournament in Ottawa. You plan to use Thursday as a travel day. The team official applying for the permit must use one of the team s exemptions and include that Thursday date as well on the permit. Note rest day after a tournament (Monday after) is NOT premitted in the exemption. If an exemption is not used, there is still a chance your schedule may change and your team is expected to play on Thursday. All of the permit conditions are listed clearly on the tournament permit. More information regarding Exhibition Games and Tournaments can be found in the MHL 2014-15 Yearbook, MHL Coach Guide, and on the MHL website. Respect In Sport (Speak Out Equivalent) As per Hockey Canada regulations, all team officials (including both off and on-ice volunteers) must be certified in the Hockey Canada Speak Out OR Respect in Sport Program. We want to hear from you! Respect In Sport is a 3 hour ON LINE course available through the GTHL website www.gthlcanada.com At present there are no Speak Out clinics available, but watch this website for any upcoming clinics. If your team has a story of interest involving a player, volunteer, team event, (such as a charitable fundraiser or a community event involving the team), the MHL would love to hear about it and possibly showcase it in the MHL E-Newsletter. As well, if your team wins a tournament, please let us know. Simply provide the team name, number, and tournament won! Photos are good! Anyone without either Speak Out or Respect In Sport will have until December 15, 2014 to do this on line course. At that time, temporary passes will no longer be valid, and a full season pass will not be produced until this course is done.
