The morning was promising with flat seas and light winds that then turned to fresh North Easterly winds so the afternoon fishing was less pleasant. Back at the clubrooms for the weigh in a few tough luck stories were doing the rounds with the winner of this category being John Kearns. John spent the morning from 6am at the ramp sorting out ticket selling and then when looking to head out at 10.30am with the family to participate his Buccaneer wouldn t start. They packed out the ASB lounge with 500 people showcasing an array of talent. New Member afternoon 18 th February The club combined the Sunday Club open day on the 18 th with an invite to New members to come down and meet committee and other club members. Michelle Browne completed the ring around and it was great to see the new faces. =========================================================================== Commodore - Sandra Wakeford Obtaining the LTNZ exemption so club members with Class 1 drivers licenses could legally tow their boats with the Tractors was the all consuming topic for February and March. The basis issue was that the combined weight of most of our Tractor Boat configurations exceeded 4500kg. The Licensing rules require you to have a Class 2 HT license to be in control of a towing vehicle where the combined weight is greater than 4500kg. In respect of the BBBC, our tractors and the launching at Browns Bay beach the exemption was critical for the viability of the service offered by the boat club. Requirements of the Exemption: 1. Complete the log book in the tractor shed when using the tractor 2. Speed not more than 10kmp. 3. Operate the Tractor in accordance with the Tractor and Club rules a. Connect to the correct tow-ball for your trailer coupling! b. Safety Chain to be connected c. Passengers in the Tractor Cage or seated in the boat d. Thank you to all club members who stood by as the submissions and issues were dealt with to obtain this result. Thanks to John Kearns, Ken Freeman and Kevin Wakeford for the huge time commitment to ensure the detail of our report met Ministry requirments.
C Mantis Something is broken around the front axle on the big Green C Mantis sorting out the fix is underway. There is a mirror on the back wall to help with positioning C Mantis as close to the wall as possible when backing in. Mirror sponsored by KA Wakeford Ltd (thanks Kevin). C Squirt The black wheel guards are plastic so you do not have to worry about putting the small tractor in close to the wall. Check the markings for positioning so that you can still get between the 2 tractors when in the shed. Membership: We continue to welcome on board new members. The Clubrooms being open on Sundays from 2pm has helped an increase in enquiries.
