The President's Corner: Howdy Peacemakers: This is Ivory - first of all I'd like to thank everyone who helped Saturday when Lefty was ill. From Rye who ran the show - scenarios, running a posse, etc., Angus who also ran a posse, Kit and Creek Bottom doing the scores, to those who helped set up and tear down. We had 44 shooters show up, even though we had thought we might have to cancel due to wet range conditions. The weather was warm but beautiful for shooting! Thanks everyone for coming! For those who hadn't heard, it turns out that Lefty's nausea, etc., was a prelude to a heart attack that apparently occurred over the course of a couple of days. He ended up in the hospital where they did a heart cath and discovered a small blockage which they opened with a balloon. He's doing much better now and on the road to recovery. He will need to take it easy for the next shoot or so, so be tuned for ways to help out. See Damned Ol Ranger's comments for a recap of the annual 3-day match Thunder in the Valley! (He summed it up very well!)

A Few Minutes With Rye: We had 22 shooters at the July Wednesday shoot. There were 6 or 7 Wild Bunchers, & only ONE BP shooter, that dedicated BP shooter Dam'd Ol Ranger!!! Thanks everyone for helping to set up and tear down! I couldn't do it without ya'l!! Thanks Hershey for the donuts, we had a great time!!! See ya'll on the first Wed. of August!! Top Ten: 1. Crossdraw 111.08 2. Thunder Creek Kid 130.74 3. Hershey Barr 138.74 4. R S Dancer 142.61 5. Mossy Pops 145.89 6. Ivory Kay 147.16 7. Swis 147.96 8. Twitchy 161.02 9. King Ranch 161.36 10. Rye Miles 172.58 3 CLEAN SHOOTERS...Twitchy, King Ranch, Blue Knight

A Notice from Misty Moonshine regarding Scoring at Major Matches: Dear Valued SASS Members: After careful consideration and evaluation of the countless requests and movements regarding scoring methods for Cowboy Action Shooting, the SASS Board of Directors do hereby decree that effective immediately, all SASS Sanctioned Cowboy Action Shooting matches are to be scored using Total Time. A direct email has been sent to all Club contacts, SASS Sanctioned match directors, and event organizers giving notice to this effect and requiring immediate changes to match planning to accommodate the change. SASS Sanctioned matches will no longer be allowed to use any other scoring method. We feel strongly that this monumental change will garner great support and appreciation from you- our valued members. Respectfully, Misty Moonshine A Few Comments From Damned Ol' Ranger: Howdy Peacemakers!, We had a great 3 Day Thunder In The Valley. We had plenty of water, no casualties, and the rain went around us and a nice breeze kept us all in the game. Bad Finger Bodine has a real pipeline to the Man who is in charge...amen! On Friday, the side matches went well and Blastin Brad did a nice job for the Wild Bunch Match, as did Ohio Cheatin Charlie with the Plainsman event. It s good to have Ohio Cheatin Charlie back in top form after his major plumbing update.

The Friday night meal of Sloppy Joes was home made by Russ T. Sites wife and it was delicious. It brought back memories of my sainted Mom s recipe...thanks. Saturday s main match went well...for most of the shooters. Our Posse had a cloud over a couple of us Hombres with equipment malfunctions. Loquacious Loner tried to hang in there but he took it on the chin and stayed to the end...a true Spirit of the Game effort. We finished with lots of time to sit under the pavilion and scrub the black powder fouling from guns, have some liquid libations and tell some lies and laugh. It got real interesting after Dewey Shootem showed up with his jug of Frontier Whisky...it must have been a potent brew...it caused one cow girl to loose her appetite and skip supper. Saturday s meal was liked by all...it was prepared by the Charcoal Mafia. Funny, those gals didn t look Italian...no mustache, but good food. The drawing saw a lot of good prizes go to the shooters...with the top prize going to Wagon Master Duke. A big "Thank You" goes to Grafton Guns who donated a derringer for the drawing and it was won by Last Gun. Sunday went well. The scoring and totals were almost instantly done, thanks to Woody Shootem and his magic Ipads. A grateful "Thank You" goes to Lefty Lobo Lee and Ivory Kay. They pulled it all together and made it a success. See ya all next month! Adios, Damned Ol Ranger SASS 4242 *************************************************************** Howdy Peacemakers, We had light to middlin turn out with only two Posses. At the Safety Meeting, it was decided to shoot through and eat on the run. Ivory Kay provided a lunch of cold cuts, and chips. Not a bad afternoon...except for yours truly. I called it a day after the 3rd stage. My BPP Vertigo is

acting up and it was getting close of being unsafe so I saddled up and headed for home. Hopefully by the next shoot, the PT will be getting those little particles in my inner ears back to where they belong and I won t be feelin like I m back aboard ship in sea state of 6 or better. Adios, Damned Ol Ranger Ivory's Words of Wisdom: Even though this is a bit late, I'd like to thank everyone who helped at Thunder in the Valley - we couldn't have pulled it off without the help of our board members and others who graciously pitched in. Even though this is a bit late, I'd like to thank everyone who helped at Thunder in the Valley - we couldn't have pulled it off without the help of our board members and others who graciously pitched in. We think it went off well and hope that everyone had a great time! Thanks to Kit Colleen and Mrs. Garland Ratz for helping Lisa and me with the shooter's packets, name tags, etc. Kit also helped me with table decorations for the banquet. Thank you to Woody for providing the ipads and helping with the scoring. Thanks to Woodfox and Garland Ratz who helped with posse assignments. Thanks also to everyone who helped with the side matches - too numerous to list. And to those who ran posses (Lefty, Rye, Angus & Garland), and for those who helped their Posse Marshals run the timer, etc. I hope I haven't missed anyone, but if I did - thanks to everyone who had a part - big or small! I love our Firelands family where people jump in to help where needed! THANK YOU!
