HARBOR PREMIER COACHES CURRICULUM 2017/2018 JUNIOR ACADEMY & DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY JUNIOR ACADEMY Practice schedule Boys and Girls Monday s and Wednesday s 1 hour. From May December sole focus on Skill development in 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4 situations. Three stage practice - Warm up (stage 1) Monday s - 1v1 moves (skills and turns). 4 th week running with the ball. Wednesday s Coerver skills/techniques 1v1 and or small sided (stage 2) Monday s - 1v1 activities Wednesday s - 2v2 activities (teaching passing techniques) Game like activity (stage 3)

On Fridays during the Summer we will offer free play, where the kids come and mix ages to just play. (u9 & u10 and possibly advanced U8 together only). 9v9 Development Academy Practice schedule for Monday s and Wednesday s 1 hour 30 mins. On Fridays during the summer we will offer free play, where the kids come and mix ages to just play. (u11 & u12 together only). Throughout fall and spring we will offer extra-curricular programs. First 15 minutes is ball mastery. 5 minutes freestyle dribbling/juggling. First Monday of the month is dribbling/skill work and put into 1v1/2v2/3v3 scenarios. Second Monday is Running with the ball and put into Numbers up scenarios. Third Monday of the month is Turning with the ball and put into game like scenarios. Fourth Monday is ball striking (passing and shooting etc.). Wednesday s the technique part of every session is based on first touch and passing steering towards team based activities such as possession games. Dribbling basics Dribbling 6

Transitional Phase U13/U14 U13-U14 - A finished player at the end of the U13/14 phase should possess the following skills: Technical emphasis continued from 12's Emphasis on style of play Switching the point of attack Functional training introduced Creative play encouraged Introduction of touch restrictions Properly weighted passes Confident to use both feet 2 nd and 3 rd defenders Understanding the application of the principles of attack = width, depth, mobility, penetration and improvisation Understanding and application of the principles of defending = pressure, cover, balance, compactness, communication Introduction to systems of play (1-4-4-2, 1-4-2-3-1, 1-4-3-3 formations) Combination play Introduction to game management Senior Phase U15/U16 - A finished player at the end of the U15/16 phase should possess the following skills: Continued emphasis on technical skills while learning the tactical side of the game Zonal defending 9

High level fitness Tactical knowledge of the game Know when to dribble and when to pass. Able to understand when they need to restrict touches Movement off of the ball Soccer IQ (I.e. when to overlap as wing backs, runs forwards should make and when, positioning of center backs when to step and when to delay) Individual responsibility (minimizing parent involvement through use of emails, college profiles etc) Gamesmanship U17/18/19 - A finished player at the end of the U17/18/19 phase should possess following skills: Continued emphasis on technical skills leverage to create competitive advantages Professional approach to training Importance of weight training Importance of nutrition Knowledge of multiple formations Roles of different positions in various formations Decision making Mastery of one touch passing skills Developed leadership skills Ready to compete at the adult phase in their soccer development 10
