MEMBERS NIGHT Due to Public Holiday on Friday 26th January, there will be no members draw or raffles. We apologise for any inconvenience. General Manager s Comments for January 2018 Happy New Year to all members, I hope you all enjoyed the festive season with family and friends. Our bistro has been very busy over the December period with 4357 meals being served, along with many functions being held in the Carmichael room. The addition of the self serve vegies and salad bar is proving to be a great success. Also, many thanks must go to all the volunteers who helped out with barefoot bowls bookings over the Christmas season. In just over a month we had 926 people enjoy our bowling facilities who then partook in either a BBQ, finger food, function meals or booked into the bistro for a meal. In case of an emergency The club would like to keep a record of emergency contacts for our members. Could any interested members please leave their emergency contact details at reception. South West Sport are organising an open day on Sunday the 11 th of February where members of the community can come and try Table Tennis, Lawn Bowls, Hockey and Croquet. So if you have family or neighbours that might be interested please let them know. I am looking for some volunteers that might be able to help on the day from 2.00pm to 4.00pm (if you are not playing in the Scott McLeod Tournament). There will also be an informal meeting of the other sporting groups on Wednesday the 31 st of January at 4.00pm. Members that are interested in helping out could you please contact me. Don t forget to pop on down next week and enjoy watching some great bowling at the Des Notley Classic Pairs Tournament. Please make Steve Glasson and Kelvin Kerkow feel very welcome to our great Club. Julie Dosser GENERAL MANAGER Scott McLeod Mixed Fours Tournament Sunday 11th February 2018 If any member would like to play in the tournament and is not in a team could you please place your name down as a single entry. There are a number of ladies who would like to play so if we could have some male members that would like a game, we will endeavour to make up some teams of fours. Please place your name on the entry form in the Single Entry Column. We would like to see a great turn up on this day. 3

Men's President Report Well Christmas has been and gone for another year. Where are the years going? I hope everyone had a great Christmas with their family and friends. 2018 is now with us and I would like to wish everyone a happy, safe and healthy 2018. Although it started with a bit of a scare for Ros and I last weekend, I am sure I will be right when I get to the bottom of my little problem. Saturday Pennant has started again and CMBC has seven out of nine teams in the four, so hopefully we can have some success this year. Keep up the good work. Championship events are progressing. The A-Grade Singles has been decided, with David Wells defeating Ray Hoy in a very high standard game. I marked this game and there was some great shots played. Congratulations to both players on their effort. The Club 100 Up final was played between Hank Pelgrim and Garry Davey. This event was won by Garry in a very close game. Congratulations to both players on reaching the final. Next week is a big week for our Club with the running of the 30th Des Notley Classic Pairs. This year the Club has made a big effort to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of this great event. We have several top line players coming with over 30 Clubs represented and 54 teams in total so all greens will be played on I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Manager Julie for getting Steve Glasson and Kelvin Kerkow to come and compete in this great event. Well done Julie!! So please get along to the Club next week and see these players in action. Congratulations to Greg Ritchie, Ray Cooknell and Don Price on winning the Division Triples. All the best to these players in the Regional finals. Upcoming Club events are the Club Triples on 28th January, Club Pairs 4 th February and the Scott McLeod 11 th February, so please keep these dates in mind and support these events. Bruce Collie Men's President PARKING REMINDER FOR ALL BOWLERS/MEMBERS/STAFF Reminder to PLEASE NOT park your vehicles in the centre area of the car park as the Club/Management reserve this area for patrons. If you are leaving your vehicle for the day please park at The Carmichael end of the car park. 5

From the Ladies Match Committee Hello Bowlers, The Ladies Club Pairs have been completed. Sixteen teams entered and it was sectional play. The weather conditions were very challenging, however the competitors were up to the challenge and the bowling was of a good standard. The semi-finals were between Colleen Haberfield & Adele Sayer against Kaye Maddern & Gail Holland who subbed in for Annette Millard. The game was decided on the last end. The other semi-final was Mary Bagg & Barbara Hart against Barbara Bibby & Sally Madden. This too was a game that was decided in the last ends. The final was Colleen Haberfield & Adele Sayer against Mary Bagg & Barbara Hart. The game lasted approximately three and a half hours and the eventual winners were Colleen Haberfield & Adele Sayer. This game was also decided in the last end. We congratulate all competitors and thank you for entering. The Ladies Club Fours are to be played after the Triples. Teams need to be re-entered. Sheet in folder. Good Bowling. Judith Murnane Ladies Match Committee 6

Ladies President s Report I hope you all had a lovely festive season and enjoyed the break from pennant. Our Christmas raffle was very successful with $2,286 raised. Thank you all for supporting our major fundraiser and to our members for selling tickets. The lucky winners were Valeese Mabbitt winning 1 st prize, Ray Farley winning 2 nd prize and Josie Mulhall winning 3 rd prize. Our Christmas party was once again a great night, we may even score a new member from the night, but can we cope with 'Ophelia Dickie'!! Thank you to all of our entertainers. Good food, lovely music and plenty of laughter made for a most enjoyable night. Congratulations to our Division Triples winners: Kaye Maddern, Julie Dosser and Kate Lloyd, as well as Greg Ritchie, Ray Cooknell and Don Price. Good luck to both teams as they go on to compete in the Region Triples in Colac on Sunday February the 18th. Good luck also to our Club Champions Kaye Maddern and David Wells as they play off in Champion of Champions this Sunday (21st) at Lawn Tennis. What a thrill it was on Friday when mother and daughter Colleen Haberfield and Adele Sayer won our Club Pairs Championship. Adele is a first year bowler but I think she is well and truly on bowls! They had a very close game against Mary Bagg and Barbara Hart winning by the narrowest margins of one shot, both teams put down great bowls, congratulations and well done to all four bowlers. Our next club championship event is the Ladies Triples, which has its first day on Friday 2 nd Febuary. Margaret Cole begins on Friday 16th Febuary. The Match Committee are working on the Club Fours but there is a new entry form out to enter your team. I would encourage you to enter the Scott McLeod mixed fours tournament which is on Sunday 11 th Febuary 9:30am start. If you are not in a team please put your name in as single entry and we will do our best to place you in a team. Don't forget the Daylight Savings pairs are being played on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm, you need to have you name in by 3pm on Wednesdays, new bowlers are paired up with an experienced bowler, it is a very good format and great fun. City Gold and City Blue are sitting on top of their respective ladders at this stage. Good luck to all of our teams for the remaining four games of pennant before the finals begin. Good luck to the club for a successful Classic Pairs tournament next week. We have two big name bowlers, Steve Glasson and Kelvin Kerkow, both have played for Australia and are competing in the tournament at the invitation of our General Manager Julie. I urge you all to go along to the tournament and watch these bowlers in action. Just a reminder to bowlers, that we are not to park our cars in the two rows of the car park in front of the main entrance to the club, the club would like these to be available for patrons when they visit our club. Our next ladies meeting is to be held Monday 12th February, committee meeting at 9:30am and general meeting at 11am. Happy New Year and good bowling to you all. Glenda Ritchie President of the Ladies Section. REMINDER Please note full members and honorary members are the only members permitted to play in organised events. Social membership does not entitle the member to go onto the greens, unless they are playing in a corporate event. 7
