Page 2 of 19 Baseball Wins Three in Gulf Shores; Set to Open Area Play The Hewitt-Trussville Baseball team traveled to Gulf Shores during Spring Break to participate in the Gulf Coast Classic. The Huskies went 3-1 for the week and are now 22-6 overall on the season. Hewitt opens Area play Tuesday night as they host Grissom at 6pm. HT 3 Russellville 1 Carson Skipper was excellent on the mound for the Huskies. He tossed a complete game and only gave up four hits. Skipper struck out 14 Russellville batters for the game. At the plate, Skipper had two hits including a RBI double. Ed Johnson and Davis Burgin also had hits for Hewitt. Fairhope 4 HT 2 Fairhope hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the 7th to pick up the win. HT 5 Hackelburg 1 The Huskies opened the day with a strong pitching and defensive effort. Creed Parker picked up the win on the mound as he threw six innings. Parker allowed just two hits and struck out four batters. Carson Skipper had a huge game at the plate as he crushed two home runs. Skipper had three hits total and four RBI's. HT 13 Normal West (IL) 0 Hewitt closed the day with an impressive win over Normal West HS out of Illinois. Davis Burgin pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out nine batters. Michael Fowler hit a long home run and had two RBI's. Ed Johnson, Preston Jones, and Burgin had two hits each. Tyler Mauldin and Zach Defnall had two RBI's.

Page 4 of 19 Softball Places 2nd in Gulf Coast Classic The Huskies had a great Spring Break in Gulf Shores as they went 9-1 for the week and finished in 2nd place out of 67 teams. Hewitt (23-6 Overall) opens Area play Tuesday at Gadsden City. Coach Taylor Burt's team opened the Gulf Coast Classic with four pool play wins. On Wednesday, the team played six games over an 11 hour span advancing all the way to the championship game. HT 17 Crossville 0 The Huskies opened bracket play with a big win over Crossville. Kaitlyn Hughes tossed a complete game shutout and only allowed two hits. Crystal Maze was 3-3 with three RBI's. Abigail Dorsett, Tate Moseley, Molly Cobb, Hannah Borden, and Abigail Inman all had two hits apiece. HT 16 Clay-Chalkville 0 Hewitt advanced to the sweet 16 with a win over Clay-Chalkville. Hayden Neugent pitched a shutout and allowed just one hit. Anyce Harvey went 3-3 with three RBI's. Kaitlyn Mcdaniel went 2-2 with five RBI's. HT 4 Hatton 0 Molly Cobb pitched a shutout and allowed just two hits to pick up the win. Cobb also had a RBI at the plate. Crystal Maze had two RBI's. HT 13 Hoover 0 Hewitt advanced to the final four with a win over Hoover. Hayden Neugent threw a no hitter and struck out six. Abigail Dorsett went 3-3, Crystal Maze had two hits and four RBI's, and Hannah Borden added three RBI's. HT 5 Alexandria 0 Molly Cobb pitched a complete game and only allowed three hits. Hannah Borden went 2-2 and had three RBI's. Abigail Dorsett also had two hits. Thompson 4 HT 3 Hewitt dropped the title game to Thompson. Both Tate Moseley and Hannah Borden homered for the Huskies.
Page 5 of 19 Boys Golf: West Alabama Classic Recap The Hewitt-Trussville Boys Golf team traveled to Tuscaloosa over Spring Break to compete in the West Alabama Classic. The Huskies faced off with many of the top teams around the state and finished 7th out of 19 teams. Hewitt shot a 316 on day one then came back by shooting 307 on day two. Dawson Atkinson led the way during round one with a round of 76. Logan McCracken also broke 80 during round one with a 78. Atkinson also led the team on day two as he shot a 73. Dylan Webb improved five shots as he fired a 77 on day two. Austin Lollar improved six shots as he carded a 75 in the final round. The Huskies will face Springville in a dual match on April 5.

Page 7 of 19 Girls Tennis: McGill-Toolen Invitational Recap The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Tennis team traveled to Mobile at the beginning of spring break to compete in the McGill-Toolen Invitational. The Huskies were placed in the top bracket and competed against some of the best teams in the southeast. Hewitt began the event with a 8-1 loss to St. Joseph. The Huskies bounced back with a 9-0 win over NW Rankin. Coach Mike Higginbotham's team continued playing well and beat Pensacola Catholic 6-3. The Huskies ended the event with a 6-3 loss to McGill-Toolen. The team will host Homewood on April 3. The Region leading Huskies will travel to Buckhorn Wednesday.

The Girls team finished 4th and the Boys team finished 5th. The team will next be in action on April 6 as they travel to Pearl, MS. Page 12 of 19 Girls Soccer Celebrates Senior Night The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Thursday March 22. Four members of the team (Christina Larson, Taylor Winship, Bri Davis, and Lexi Gray) were honored before the game. The Girls were honored along with their parents in front of a big crowd. Many kids from the Trussville Youth Soccer program were also in attendance. The Huskies finished the game in a 1-1 tie against Gardendale. Hewitt is now 7-4-3 on the season. The team will travel to Foley the weekend of April 6. On April 12, the Huskies get back into Area play with a match against Huntsville.
Page 13 of 19 Boys Soccer Wins on Senior Night The Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer team won 6-0 over Gardendale Thursday night to improve to 7-5-2 overall on the season. Seniors Stone Burke, Ethan Swatek, Colt Smith, and Cayman Pearson were honored before the game. Seniors stood with their parents to be honored in front of a big crowd. The Huskies are now off until the weekend of April 6 when they travel to Foley. The team will be back in Area play on April 12 as they travel to Huntsville. Volleyball Tryouts Set to Begin Tryouts for the fall 2018 Volleyball teams will begin on April 9. Interested students should see Coach Katie Riggins at HTHS. Page 14 of 19 Middle School Baseball Advances to Tournament Title Game The Middle School Baseball team competed in the Thompson tournament during spring break and advanced to the championship game. The Huskies dropped the title game to Hueytown 3-1. In the semifinal round, Hewitt defeated Oak Mountain 13-5. Hewitt defeated Oak Mountain and tied Pell City during pool play. The team will be back in action on April 3 as they travel to Riverchase.
Page 15 of 19 HTMS Softball Stays Unbeaten The HT Middle School Softball team improved to 16-0 on Monday as they defeated Bumpus 11-5. The Huskies tallied wins over Thompson and Berry the week before spring break. Hewitt will play its final home game of the season Wednesday as they host Mountain Brook. On Thursday, the Metro Tournament will begin at Bumpus. The Huskies will be the tournament top seed.
Page 16 of 19 MS Boys Golf Hosts HTMS Invitational The HTHS Boys Golf team hosted the HTMS Invitational at Trussville Country Club on Thursday March 22. In all, 11 teams and over 90 golfers competed in the event. The Huskies had a strong showing placing 2nd overall as a team. Hewitt will take on Liberty Park in their next match on April 3.
Page 17 of 19 HTMS Tennis Picks Up Home Wins The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School tennis teams hosted Simmons on March 21 and came away with two conference victories. The Boys team played a close match and pulled away with a 5-4 win. The Girls team played well and defeated Simmons 8-1. The Huskies will travel to Old Overton on April 3 for a tri-match with Liberty Park and Thompson.
