Entry Fee Entry fee for each animal is $15.00 (late fees if applicable) must accompany the entry. Arrival / Departure Arrive: Wednesday, September 14th from 8am - NOON Depart: Two (2) hours at conclusion of show Trailer Parking Special parking facilities will be provided for livestock trailers. Immediately after unloading, all trailers must be moved. Location will be announced. Special Rules Governing Rules All rules governing livestock in the General Rules and Regulations apply to this department. Show Sanction Details This show is officially sanctioned by The American Dairy Goat Association. ADGA rules Shall Govern. Jr. and Sr. Does are sanctioned separately. Show order is not subject to change. Fees 1. $15.00 will be charged for each head entered in Open show. 2. Late fees for Dairy Goats will be $10.00 per animal, per class. 3. Group class entry is $15.00. 4. Parking Fee: Gate 6 is $20.00 for duration of show which includes one admission pass. 5. Admission pass: $15.00 for duration of show. 6. Parking fee, Exhibitor Pass fees, and late entry fees (if applicable) must accompany entry.
Entry Regulations: 1. All animals must be entered in the name of the owner or the one leasing the animal. 2. Ownership must be dated at least 90 days prior to the opening day of the fair. 3. Only does are eligible. 4. No entry will be accepted without registered tattoo recorded on entry card. 5. The animal s tattoo must be legible or the entry will be disqualified and no premium will be awarded. 6. All goats, regardless of age, must be registered with the American Dairy Goat Association, the American Goat Society or the Canadian Goat Society. 7. Stamped and duplicate applications will be accepted on animals under 6 months of age. 8. NO signed transfers will be accepted as per ADGA rules. 9. Tack Pens: one pen per exhibitor upon availability. Check with Superintendent at time of check-in. Attire 1. Exhibitors are required to see that their showmen and attendants are neatly and appropriately attired. 2. Exhibitors may wear white shirts and denim jeans or dairy colors while exhibiting. Federal Sheep and Goat ID Requirements for Scrapie Sheep and goats that are sexually intact and used for breeding, show and/or exhibition are required to have official individual animal and premises identification prior to sale or movement. Group Classes $15.00 per class *Each animal in a group must be shown as an individual in the appropriate class* 1. Junior Get Of Sire: a. Shall consist of three does under two years of age that has not freshened, the get of one sire. b. Sire must be named on entry form. c. Each exhibitor limited to one group entry per named sire. d. All does need not be owned by exhibitor.
2. Senior Get Of Sire: a. Shall consist of three does, at least 1 in milk, the Get of one Sire. b. Sire must be named on entry form. c. Each exhibitor limited to one group entry per named sire. d. All does need not be owned by exhibitor. 3. Dairy Herd: a. To consist of four does in milk. b. All animals must be owned by exhibitor. c. Each exhibitor limited to one entry per breed. 4. Breeders Trio: a. To consist of three does any age. b. All bred by exhibitor. c. Each exhibitor limited to one entry per breed. d. All animals need not be owned by exhibitor. 5. Dam and Daughter: a. To consist of Milking Dam and one daughter. b. Dam must be named on entry form. c. Each exhibitor limited to one entry per dam. d. Both animals need not be owned by exhibitor. Awards Championship Awards 1. Junior Champion: In each breed is chosen from the first place dairy goats from classes 1 through 5. 2. Junior Reserve Champion: In each breed is chosen from animals eligible for Junior Champion and the second place animal from the class producing the Junior Champion. 3. Senior Champion: In each breed is chosen from the first place dairy goats from classes 10 through 13. 4. Senior Reserve Champion: In each breed is chosen from the eligible animals for Senior Champion and the second place animal from the class producing the Senior Champion. 5. Grand Champion: The Champion from the Junior Division and Senior Division shall compete for Grand Champion. 6. Reserve Grand Champion: Is selected from a class of the Junior or Senior Champion that has not made Grand Champion and the animal that stood Reserve to the Grand Champion. 7. Best Doe of Breed: Is selected from the Senior Champion and the winner of the Champion Challenge Class of that breed. 8. Best Doe in Show: Is selected from the Best Doe of Breed of all breeds present.
Exhibitor Awards 1. Premier Exhibitor: a. This award is made to the exhibitor of the eight or fewer animals winning the most money in open single classes. b. Open Junior Doe and Open Senior Doe shows are included. c. No limit on number of animals exhibited, but the award is automatically figured on a maximum of eight animals. d. Separate awards for each breed. 2. Premier Breeder: a. This award is made to the breeder of the eight or fewer animals winning the most money in open single competition, bred by him but may be exhibited by others. b. Open Junior Doe and Open Senior Doe Shows are included. c. No limit on number of animals exhibited, but the award is automatically figured on a maximum of eight animals. d. Separate award for each breed. Dairy Goat Herdsman Overall Awards To show their appreciation to herdsmen for their cooperation in making the best possible presentation of their exhibits to the public and for their help in keeping our show buildings attractive, the New Mexico State Fair offers Herdsman Awards as follows: 1st 2nd 3rd Banner Rosette Rosette Awards will be based on daily appearance of exhibit and herdsman, sportsmanship, promptness in the judging ring and in parades, and cooperation with Fair officials. Awards will be made on closing day of the show on the basis of daily inspection reports.
