2018 Tournament Handbook LakeRidge Men s Golf Club Hello and welcome to the LakeRidge Men s Golf Club! As the President of the Best Damn Men s Golf Club in Nevada, I wanted to share with you what we have planned for our 2018 tournament golf season. For our returning members, I want to thank you for your continued support of our club. For our new members, I would like to extend a warm welcome from our Board of Directors! As our members know, the major benefit of joining the LakeRidge Men s Golf Club is the number and diversity of events that we offer throughout the season. Our season will officially start on Friday, April 6 th at 6 p.m. with our annual kick off dinner and raffle. The dinner provides a great opportunity to catch up with old members and meet new ones. The Board has approved a 2018 schedule that includes: eleven 18-hole weekend tournaments, eleven Wednesday bi-weekly 9-hole tournaments, and our ever-popular Member-Guest tournament. On top of this, we have our Match Play Leagues which begin in April. The Match Play Leagues are comprised of fourman teams and offer our members a chance to play thirteen head-to-head nine-hole matches. In addition, the top twelve point earners from each league qualify for the prestigious Ridge Cup, our version of the Ryder Cup, and the winning team from each League will compete in the Challenge Cup a 9-hole match to identify the best match play team overall. Finally, we offer two Club Championships: the traditional Match Play Club Championship and the President s Cup Stroke Play Championship. In total, we will offer well over 35 competitive tournament golf opportunities throughout the 2018 season! The attached 2018 Tournament Handbook provides all of the information a member would need to know, including: tournament schedules, formats, sign-up deadlines, handicap reduction policy, and other important information. Think of this handbook as your road map, as it will successfully guide you through the 2018 tournament season. Please take the time to review all of this information contained in our handbook and on our member website http://www.lrmgc.com. Green Fees for non-annual Pass members are $60 for weekend tournaments. Fees for Wednesday events are $52 per player ($30 Green Fee; $22 entry fee). For Annual Pass holders, the entry fee for the Wednesday events is $22. Finally, I want to wish you all the best of luck and a fun 2018 golfing season. If there is anything that I, or our outstanding Board of Directors, can do to enhance your experience, please let us know. Matt Frazer President LakeRidge Men s Golf Club Page 1 of 19

General Notes Skins/Closest-to-the Hole (CTH) Table For all Tournaments, the table will be located, weather permitting, adjacent to the cart area. In the event the weather is not agreeable, the table will be in the 19 th Hole restaurant. For Tee Time Tournaments, the table will be in the usual spot near the putting green. For Shotgun Start tournaments, the table will close 15 minutes before the Shotgun Start time. We will not take money after that time, NO EXCEPTIONS. Stop at the table before proceeding to the driving range. For tournaments that are 2-man or 4-man events, the Skins are Team Skins. We will only take skin money for the entire team, NO EXCEPTIONS. Same rule applies to Qualifier Entry money. SKINS WILL NOT BE FLIGHTED AND WILL HAVE BOTH A GROSS AND NET SIDE FOR PAYOUTS. Scoring and Results As many of you know, we work many hours before, during, and after all events to ensure that all of the results are correct and that you are paid the earned monies very quickly. As this is a manual system, there is definitely room for error and unfortunately after many reviews, errors still happen. That being said, we invite you to check the results as soon as they are posted and let us know of any possible areas which we may need to re-check. Because this cannot be an open-ended timeframe, we have established a right to appeal within 3 days from the date the event is posted to the website. To appeal, please email the Tournament Director with the specific basis for your appeal. The Tournament Director will then coordinate with the Tournament Committee to resolve your appeal. If your appeal provides insufficient details or support, the Board reserves the right to deny it outright. Accordingly, please provide as much detail and supporting information as possible in your appeal. All Board decisions are final. Scrip & skin payouts will be finalized after the appeal period. As with all payouts for winnings, skins, and closestto-the-pin, the Board reserves the right to make any verifiable corrections and may come to you to correct any of these errors in payments with proof. Pace of Play Policy In an effort to make our Tournaments more enjoyable to the participants, pace of play is going to be emphasized by both the Course and the Club. As we start our Tournament season, we are going to be limited to 128 players (first come, first served). If we cannot complete a tournament in less than five hours, the Golf Course will reduce the number of participants allowed for subsequent tournaments. Accordingly, please be cognizant of your own paceof-play. Further, foursomes should play ready golf whenever possible. Hole-in-One Insurance Hole-in-one insurance is offered to all LakeRidge Men s Golf Club members at a cost of $5. A member who has purchased hole-in-one insurance and scores a hole-in-one during a qualifying club event will receive the value of the hole-in-one insurance fund. Qualifying events are limited to: weekend tournaments (Member Guest members only), bi-weekly s, and the match play league (must be a completed tournament). Historically this fund has been around $800 to $900. If two or more LakeRidge Men s Golf Club members, who have both purchased hole-in-one insurance, score a holein-one in the same event, these members will split the value of the hole-in-one insurance fund. After a hole-in-one has been scored, we will then start collecting $5 again to build another hole-in-one insurance fund. You must purchase the hole-in-one insurance at a cost of $5 to qualify for the insurance. Page 2 of 19

Hole-in-One Pot The hole-in-one pot is available to any LakeRidge Men s Golf Club member who is entered in the closest-to-the-hole contest during a qualifying event. Qualifying events are defined as weekend tournaments (excluding the Member Guest), bi-weekly events, and match play league events (must be a completed tournament). In Match Play league events, if either opponent has already secured the win, players are still eligible to continue playing their respective holes in an attempt at the Pot as long as another participant is there to attest. The hole-in-one pot starts at a value of $500 and increases $100 with each weekend tournament event & match play event, and $50 with each bi-weekly event. The hole-in-one pot is available on all holes! The HIO Pots are limited to $5,000 maximum. If two qualified contestants score a hole-in-one in the same event the following will apply: (EXAMPLE) If the pot stands at $1,000 for the event, and a hole-in-one is scored by a qualified contestant, the contestant wins the Pot. The Pot then immediately reverts to its starting point of $500. If in the same event another qualified contestant scores a hole-in-one, the two contestants will split $1,500 ($1,000 for the first holein-one and $500 for the second hole-in-one). Thus, each contestant receives $750 cash from the pot. At the end of the LakeRidge Men s Golf Club season, if no hole-in-ones have been recorded, the value of the holein-one pot will be carried over into the next season. LRMGC Local Rules 1. All maintenance paths on holes #7, #9 and #17 shall be considered as Improved Cart Paths, and relief applied accordingly. 2. Accidental Movement of a Ball on a Putting Green Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1 are modified as follows: a. When a player s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. b. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 19-3 and 20-1. c. This Local Rule applies only when the player s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental. Note: If it is determined that a player s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location. A ball-marker moved in such circumstances is replaced. LRMGC Score Card Tie-Breaking Method If the Tournament Director has determined that a competitive playoff is not feasible then he will use a scorecard matching method to determine the winner. He will determine the winner on the basis of the best net score for the last nine holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last nine holes, the Tournament Director will check the last six holes, then the last three holes, and finally the 18th hole. Using this method, the Tournament Director will apply, one-half, one-third, one-sixth, or one-18th of the course handicaps. Again, fractions of one-half stroke or more should count as a full stroke; any lesser fractions should be disregarded. If this procedure fails to produce a winner, then the Tournament Director will compare net scores starting with the #1 handicap hole and work back until the tie is broken. Page 3 of 19

FAILURE TO HOLE OUT During a past bi-weekly tournament, several players apparently X ed out one or more holes, and recorded, probably, their max allowed strokes based on Equitable Stroke Control. They then turned in their card as if they were still in the Gross & Net competition. The rules are clear that in Stroke Play competition, if a player does not complete a hole, he can continue to play the round, but is only playing for Skins and CPs. It is unfair for a player to X out a hole, record his Equitable Stroke Control-allowed strokes for that hole, and then continue to be in the hunt for a place in the Gross or Net competition. 3-2. Failure to Hole Out If a competitor fails to hole out at any hole and does not correct his mistake before he makes a stroke on the next teeing ground or, in the case of the last hole of the round, before he leaves the putting green, he is disqualified. ** We do allow for unfinished holes in Match Play, but what is really happening is two-fold: 1) the player is conceding the hole to his opponent; and 2) the player is allowed to record what the most likely score would have been, but no higher than the maximum stroke allowed for that player under the Equitable Stroke Control rules. Modified Stableford Scoring in LRMGC Tournaments In any LRMGC event that is scored using Stableford Points, a modified Stableford point systems will be used as follows: Triple Eagle 15 Par 1 Double Eagle 10 Bogey 0 Eagle 5 Dble Bogey or worse - -2 Birdie - 3 LRMGC Handicap Adjustment Policy 2018 The LakeRidge Men s Golf Club Board of Directors has conducted significant research and analysis to determine the best methodology for peer review and handicap adjustment of our members. It was our goal to establish a consistent policy and objective process that would not only examine a player based on a current tournament score, but could also track the historical tournament results of a player over time. The methodology is based on USGA statistics that differentiate a statistically good score from a statistically exceptional score. Many players are under the impression that a handicap index measures an average of a player s scores over a period of time. In reality a handicap index is a measure of a player s potential as a golfer. In general terms, a player will play at or below his handicap index only 25% of the time. Because the USGA relies on players honesty to post their adjusted scores when they play, the measure of potential may or may not be an accurate reflection of true potential. The USGA has determined that, more often than not, a player s tournament score is the more true measure of his potential. Such tournament scores (T scores) include our club competitions and other NNGA/NCGA sanctioned events. These are the only environments where the players have the highest probability of playing under the rules of golf and the scores are verified by other competitors. Our base measure will always start with a player s established USGA index. The adjustment process will be based on the tournament score differential that is posted for each LRMGC-sanctioned tournament. The LRMGC Handicap Reduction relies on the premise that the probabilities of a player beating his index by five or more are fairly high. (The probability of a 0-5 index player beating his index by 7 is 2349/1; a 6-12 index has a probability of 1200/1 and a 13-21 index has a probability of 552/1). We track our members scores in LRMGC sanctioned events only. This is because we need to recognize that a player s potential at LakeRidge GC may be different than his potential at another course (i.e. Montreaux). Page 4 of 19

The Policy is as follows: The LakeRidge Men s Club policy for adjusting a member s local handicap shall be based on the Score Differential Method (SDM) comparing course difficulty to a golfer s index using a threshold delta of 5 to 7. A differential greater than 5 but less than 7 shall warrant a one year look-back into the history of the golfer to see if similar great scores occur more than reasonably and statistically likely. A differential of 7 or greater shall warrant an automatic index reduction (pin) for the golfer as calculated by the T-Score reduction process integrated into our quantitative process. The pin shall apply for a minimum period of the remainder of the month that the extraordinary score was posted plus the following month. All posted scores over a rolling 12-month period in Men s Club events are subject to evaluation, including individual 9-hole biweekly events, and tournaments. It should be understood that it is not our goal to punish players for playing well, but to ensure that our members are playing in our competitions at an index level that accurately reflects their potential in our events. The table below provides an example of various gross scores that a 10.0 Index player might make and the effect resulting from each of the various scores. The red represents deltas that exceed 7 strokes and would invoke an immediate reduction of a player s index; the green reflects a delta between 5&7 and would be compared to other past LRMGC tournament scores before action would be taken. This policy has been established to ensure that we apply a consistent and objective approach to potential adjustments to our members handicap index, and to ensure fair play for the entire field of LakeRidge members. This policy will be consistently reviewed by the Board, and revised as needed. Page 5 of 19

LakeRidge Men s Golf Club Code of Conduct The LakeRidge Golf Club was established to promote and foster among its members and golf course a closer bond for their mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve the best interest and true spirit of the game of golf as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions. To that end, we as members of the LakeRidge Men s Golf Club are responsible for upholding the rules of golf as established by the USGA and portraying a demeanor that is becoming of a gentleman when on the golf course or its facilities. As members we will refrain from any action or activity that may endanger another member of the club or diminish their experience. We will require all members to adhere to the highest standards to ensure that the LakeRidge Men s Golf Club represents the true spirit of this honorable game of golf. Any conduct that results in removal from the golf course by the Golf Course Management will also result in expulsion from the LRMGC. Page 6 of 19
