Overview The Cool School of Performing Arts Cool School of Performing Arts The Cool School of Performing Arts was launched in the Summer of 2013 in the form of a performance workshop that took place in the month of July. The performance workshop offers an exciting program that focuses on stage presence and performance quality in the New Jersey/New York area. The young stars who experience The Cool School take daily classes in the summer to strengthen skills in several dance techniques, including contemporary and hip hop. During the course of the workshop, students will also experience a broad introduction to dance composition. This portion of the workshop is based on the idea of introducing and developing tools for future choreographers. Students will learn to generate and manipulate movement through exercises and improvisation, and will expand those skills into shaping dances. Areas to be explored include elements of movement, musical structures, narrative, partnering and site specific work, among other possibilities. These young performers get a rare opportunity to experience the thriving arts culture with master teachers and artists. It is our ultimate goal to enrich, enhance and challenge the artistic skills of our future stars.
