Dancing With Our Stars will be held at the Alhambra Theatre Saturday, September 30, 2017. Tickets will be available Tuesday morning by visiting the Pennyroyal Arts Council at the L&N Depot, 425 E. Ninth Street or calling 270-887-4295. Tickets are $40 each. Proceeds from the event and the funds raised during the dancing festivities will support the missions of both the Pennyroyal Arts Council and Sanctuary, Inc. The event is sponsored by Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Homes. We are so excited to bring the dancing fun back to the community again this year, says Executive Director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council Margaret Prim. The Dancing With Our Stars event will be the first event held in the Alhambra Theatre after undergoing renovations throughout the summer, so we re excited to kick off its 40th year and the Arts Council s 90th year with such a fun event. Marion Brown, Executive Director of Sanctuary, Inc. says of the event, Our dancers are once again practicing hard to bring the community a great show, and we are thrilled to bring this event back to the community this year. The Dancing With Our Stars event raised over $65,000 in 2016, and organizers are hoping to meet that same level of success to support the missions of the two organizations benefitting from the event. The event was a sold out crowd in its first year, so organizers encourage ticket purchases to be made as soon as possible. Once again online donations are being sought for one team to bring home the Online Fan Favorite award before the dancing even begins; other opportunities to give will be available throughout the evening of September 30. LITTLE FREE LIBRARY - TAKE A BOOK, RETURN A BOOK H opkinsville s Little Free Library Project has hit the World Map: https:// littlefreelibrary.org/ The City of Hopkinsville s Superintendent of Parks & Recreation Department, Tab Brockman, and Mayor Carter Hendricks took the lead in forging a partnership between the Christian County High School JROTC, the City of Hopkinsville s Parks and Recreation Department, Public Works Department and the Mayor s office to create Little Free Libraries in Downtown Hopkinsville and along the Hopkinsville Greenway System. With the tag line Take a Book, Return a Book the Little Free Library is a national nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds. The idea was generated by Steward Beth Roberts who purchased the charter signs and has volunteered to ensure the libraries are stocked and tidy. Thank you, Beth, for your vision in this project and thank you City of Hopkinsville for your demonstration of awesome partnerships!!
