GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC SCHOOL Principal s Newscast Orange County Week of the Family 2014 November 1-8, 2014 has been designated as Orange County Week of the Family. This celebration of the family is designed to help families grow stronger. Everyone knows that strong families provide the greatest contribution to student success in school. As a part of the Week of the Family celebration, Orange County is holding a Week of the Family Kickoff on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Blanchard Park, Orlando, 10am-2pm. There is also a Kickoff at the Children s Expo at West Oaks Mall, Ocoee, 10am-4pm November 1, 2014 and Noon-4pm November 2, 2014. All families are welcome to attend! Orange County would also like to have families visit their www.weekofthefamily.org site since our school will be listed as a partner with Orange County. Also, Orange County is asking that families Like Week of the Family Orange County, FL on Facebook. GSCS is collaborating with Orange County in their goal of strengthening Orange County families by helping this word to get out and giving orange county students time to reflect on their families and their grandparents. We are encouraging families to pray together, eat together, and spend quality time together, not just during the Week of the Family, but all year long. After the ceremony there will be a brief reception in the library with coffee, juice, donuts for all NJHS members and their families that attend the ceremony. A Pep Rally will be on Friday October 31st at the morning Assembly starting at 8:15am. All athletics should come wearing their uniform. A team picture will be taken after the Pep Rally. Sure you can find Box tops for Education on General Mills cereals and Green Giant/ Pillsbury frozen foods but did you know that Box Tops for Education can also be found on HANES brand t-shirts, socks and their other clothing products. As well as, HEFTY brand trash bags, paper plates, cups and other products. ZIPLOC baggies and their other storage bags and products? Check each package before sending it to the recycle bin or trash can cut out the and send them in with your child for their class. There is a prize for the class who collects the most by the end of the school year!! Used winter uniforms needed! The bookstore is in need of winter clothes! Sweaters, sweatshirts, cardigans and fleece bottoms are needed. As always please label your donations so that you may receive credit. The bookstore will also have available all the winter clothes the last week of October! The week of October 27th we open at 7:45am.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STEP UP FOR STUDENTS The 2015-16 scholarship application season for renewal families is now open. New this year, these families must apply, as well as submit ALL required documents, by April 30, 2015. Renewal applications will no longer be accepted after this date. Also, we are charging the $29 application service fee AFTER your application has been reviewed AND if at least one of the students on your application has been found eligible. Once reviewed, you may be prompted to pay the $29 application service fee by credit or debit card online to access your Award Letter. We are aware some families are experiencing technical issues and we are working closely with those that are affected, to move them along in the application process. In the coming weeks, we will communicate with renewal families by email, text messages and phone calls. We'll be sure to update you frequently regarding these communications.
