Balance HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION Health Effects Acute - Swallowed Toxic if swallowed. Ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, weakness, ringing in ears, dim vision, breathing difficulty, cyanosis, loss of consciousness, delirium, coma and possible death. May cause cardiac arrhythmia, which is a change or disruption in the normal pattern or rhythm of the heartbeat, and methemglobinemia. Acute - Eye Eye contact will cause stinging, blurring, tearing and possible permanent corneal damage. Acute - Skin Toxic in contact with skin. Skin contact will cause redness, itchiness, irritation and chemical burns with resultant tissue destruction. Upon initial skin contact a white burn that is not initially painful due to deadening of the nerve ending may occur. Later intense pain and gangrene may develop. May be absorbed through the skin with resultant toxic effects. Acute - Inhaled Inhalation may irritate the respiratory system. Chronic - Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause vomiting, difficulty swallowing, salivation, diarrhea, loss of appetite and weight, headache, fainting, dizziness, mental disturbances, kidney and liver damage, muscle pain, weakness, dark urine, skin eruptions and changes in pigmentation(brown spots on the knuckles). First Aid Swallowed DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Wash out mouth with water and give plenty of water to drink. Seek immediate medical attention. Eye If contact with eye(s) occurs, wash with copious amounts of water for approximately 15 minutes holding eyelid(s) open. Take care not to rinse contaminated water into the nonaffected eye. Seek immediate medical attention. Skin If skin contact occurs immediately remove any contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water then methylated spirit if available.
