CAR SHOW SEASON IS IN FULL SWING The car show season is in full swing and there are many new rides in the region. Trying to keep track of those you haven t seen before can be a daunting task. Check out the following shows: MORINVILLE Just shy of 200 vehicles turned out on Morinville s main street on June 17 th to Celebrate Festival Days. Lots of new rides made their appearance for the first time and were keenly inspected by the large crowds on hand.

VEGREVILLE FATHER S DAY SHOW & SHINE Several Mainstreet members made the trip to Vegreville for the Fathers day show and shine. The nice thing about going to outlying shows is that you get to see a lot of vehicles you wouldn t normally get to see. We were not disappointed. Nearly 200 vehicles of all descriptions turned out under fair skies. At the end of the day member Paul Hyrnew walked off with the trophy in the Muscle Car class, the Peoples Choice Award, and the Best in Show award. The Mainstreet Cruisers took the Club Participation award.

CANADA DAY AT STONY PLAIN Blue skies and warm weather greeted the attendees at the Canada Day Show and shine in stony Plain July1. The streets of the downtown core soon were filled with a huge variety of vehicles. Once again there were vehicles yours truly hadn t seen before and exploring such treasures is always interesting. Although clouds threatened to dampen the day, organizers were quick to speed up the awards presentations and most made it home safe and dry.

KMS SHOW & SHINE Super warm temperatures and sunny skies were the order of the day for the KMS Show & Shine. Cars showed up early for the event and by 9:00 AM the parking lot was filled with participants of all genres. From exotics to rat rods to classics, all were there to see. As always, cars show up that are very seldom seen at area shows. KMS vendors provided several great door prizes and information on all the great products they sell.

THE MAINSTREET CRUISERS 24 TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW Well, our big day came and the weather was absolutely stellar. Blue skies and really warm temperatures coupled with a light breeze made for a great day. Cars started to arrive even before setup was completed but our volunteer parking crew, Don, Dave, Pat, and Bob S., rose to the task and, with Gord and Ed sending them through the gates quickly, it wasn t long before the perimeter was filled with vehicles. Pat, Bev, and Grace handled the registration chores and their pre-planning meant that most received their forms and were on their way in no time. They also worked hard, pulling car numbers for door prizes, and then getting the prizes to the rightful owners all day long. Marianne handled signing up new members and renewing past ones. Over in the merchandise tent, Joyce, Betty, Mary, Marilyn, and Cheryl were selling shirts like mad. Our President, Ken, was busy photographing every car coming through the gates and Vice-president Bob kept a watchful eye over all the proceedings. Ed Ferro cranked up the tunes before long and made announcements throughout the day, and everyone seemed to be having a pretty good time. Our two judges for the day, Allan Bolstad and Clarence Shields, began their review of the vehicles early and I didn t envy their having to pick the top ten. We had a plethora of high quality vehicles to choose from. They persevered, and, after some time, presented us with 10 very worthy recipients. Meanwhile the votes for the Haggerty People s Choice Award were being tabulated by yours truly, Bob Simpson, Al Williams, and Dale. The Top Ten Awards went to the Following; Mike Deregt 1957 Chev Bel-Air Jerry Dusdal 1934 Ford 3 Window Coupe Buck Sackman- 1956 Chev Robin Stephens 1968 Corvette Belinda & Ed Ferro 1949 Chev P/U Cam Kulchitsky 1930 Ford Model A Ron Bodnar 1915 Ford Model T racer Fred Johnson 1969 Triumph GT6C Pascal Ducharme 1954 Kaiser Henry J Dave Ferguson 1953 Hudson Hornet The Haggerty People s Choice award went to Kade McLellan who came all the way from Unity, SK to show off her scaled down version of a 23 Ford T-bucket, complete with Flames and mag wheels. Kade has had the car for five years and gets to drive it in parades and car shows at the tender age of 10. She used her own money to help pay for the car and the first thing she does, once she is in the show, is to shine up the custom wheels and paint. All in all it was a great day. We want to thank all the volunteers, who worked so hard to put the show together, all the businesses and individuals who donated door prizes or items for the goody bags, all who helped out with the parking, merchandising, registrations, door prizes, and memberships, our sponsors for supporting us throughout the year, all the spectators who came down to see the cars on display, and last but not least, a big thank you to all the participants, with a special shout out to the Iron Indians Pontiac Club, the Mustang Club, and the Edmonton Thunderbird Club who took their time out on a very warm weekend to spend it with us. Thank you all! Top Ten Winner Mike Deregt Top Ten Winner Buck Sackman
