Project books are due to the 4-H office March 20, 2017 Terrebonne Parish 4-H Youth Development Cajun Chronicles January 2017 4-H Summer Camp July 3-July 7, 2017 Camping is one of the most valuable experiences a child can have. It s a learning experience that helps boys and girls appreciate the outdoors, live together as a group, get along with others and appreciate people with different interests and backgrounds. Many 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys and girls participate in 4-H Camp Grant Walker. The camp is held at the LSU AgCenter s Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, an 80- acre campsite located near Pollock, LA, on Highway 8 about 15 miles northeast of Alexandria. Terrebonne 4-H will be camping July 3-July 7, 2017 4-H members leave on Monday and return on Friday. Transportation is provided to and from camp. If you are interested in attending 4-H summer camp you must complete a Summer Camp Application and return it to the 4-H office. You can get the application from your club leader, the 4-H office or the Terrebonne 4-H website. Applications will be accepted beginning February 1, 2017 through February 27, 2017 Adult Volunteer space is limited. If you are interested, please make a comment on your child s 4-H Camp Application. The 4-H office will contact you if needed. Youth Counselors are needed. 4-H Members 10th 12th grade should complete an application. You can contact Mrs. Cherie if interested.

Page 2 Duct Tape Contest Let s Get Creative! Design something made of Duct Tape. There are a variety of colors and prints to begin your masterpiece. Please follow the rules below. Have fun! Rules: 1. All entries are due to the 4-H office by February 1, 2017. 2. Projects should be student created. You CAN NOT duct tape on top of a preexisting item. You may use cardboard, wire, clips, fabric, buckles, etc. 3. Only one entry per 4-H member. Categories: Clothing belts, vest, hats, shoes, etc. Accessories wallets, purses, hair bows, key chains, etc. School and Office Supplies pencil bags, pencil toppers, desk accessories, etc. Sports and musical equipment guitar, baseball, etc. Other designs that do not fall in any of the above categories. All items will be returned. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in junior (4th 6th grade) and senior (7th 12th grade) divisions. Clover buds will receive participation ribbons. An overall Grand and Reserve Champion will be selected. The form below MUST be completed and attached to your duct tape art. Page 3 4-H Week Highlights. We were so PROUD of all the green, white and 4-H clovers we saw during 4-H Week! Thanks to all schools who promoted 4-H! We saw many different activities taking place around the parish. 4-H Week Display Results: All 4-H clubs who participated worked well to show the parish their 4-H Pride AWESOME job to all clubs who participated! We bought gifts for three children from the Children s Advocacy Center and donated a $100 gift card to the Mac Donell Children s Services. Thanks for your generosity!
