Whittlesea Football & Netball Club Vision To be a successful Division One Football Club and succeed in all levels of Netball Supporting out local community via our facilities. Increasing the profile of the Club in both the local and business community. Incorporate our core values of Integrity, Quality, Professionalism, Trust and teamwork in everything we do. Keep our youth involved in playing a team sport, statistics show that 95% of kids that get themselves into trouble at a young age, do not play sport. Summary of the Club s History Whittlesea was a founding club of the Whittlesea DFA from 1904 until 1905, then went on to play within the Bourke-Evelyn Football League, winning their first premiership in 1907. Whittlesea went on to win another 3 premierships in 1923, 24 & 25. From 1932 Whittlesea then played within the Panton Hill & DFL and that same year where successful in getting their 5 th premiership. During the period of 1934 to 1946 Whittlesea would change leagues 4 times alternating from the Diamond Valley Football League & Panton Hill & DFL. Things settled from 1947 until 1986 as Whittlesea became a founding club of the newly formed Panton Hill Football League. Winning 7 premierships in 1954, 1957,1958, 1959, 1960, 1973 & 1974 this being one of their most successful times. At the end of 1986, a motion to turn the PHFL into a third division of the Diamond Valley Football League gave rise to a volatile incident. This was Whittlesea's final season in the Panton Hill Football League. In 1987 Whittlesea changed their name to Northern Eagles FC and commenced in the Riddell DFL. Northern Eagles won the 1988 premiership. It was decided in 1992 that the Northern Eagles would change their name to Whittlesea Football Club and return to the Diamond Valley Football League. In 2007 the Diamond Valley Football League disbanded and the current Northern Football League was formed. Netball was introduced by the Northern Football League in 2009 and all football clubs where invited to enter teams. Whittlesea started with 2 teams competing in section 1 & 2, then in 2010 increased our teams to 3 and competed in sections 1,2 &3, seeing the girls in section 2 play in finals. The football teams continued playing in division 2 and after a very successful 2010 saw the senior team run out premiers and will now be elevated into division 1 for season 2011
Club Structure The Club is run by a voluntary Committee of local people within our Community. This Committee consists of an Executive of 4, plus several sub-committees. The Committee meet every month to discuss all aspects on football matters on and off the field. Senior Football Teams The club has senior, reserves and under 19 teams playing in an 18 round season plus finals in the Northern Football League s Division 1 competition. As a club, we also encourage our youth as we have 10 Junior Football teams were approximately 250 kids participate throughout the Football season. Our club also has Auskick every Saturday morning where around 125 kids aged from 5 9 engage in learning all aspects of the game. Netball Teams The club also has 3 teams competing within the Northern Football League Netball competition playing 1 side in each division, the competition continues to grow every year with more participants expected to play in the 2011 season. This is great for our club as now the sister s, girlfriends & wives are now involved within our club. Social Socially Whittlesea Football & Netball Club enjoy: Weekly Thursday Night meals Season Launch Presidents Lunch Ladies Day $10,000 Draw Annual Ball & Awards Night Various other events which are coordinated by our Social Committee Supporting our Community At the Whittlesea Football & Netball Club we see our members and our community as part of our family. Even though we rely on the support of others financially the Club participates in other fundraising events throughout the year to support others and their cause. Events in 2010 include: Black Saturday cricket match Girls Footy match to support Breast Cancer Foundation Royal Whittlesea Show Whittlesea Country Music Festival Whittlesea Swap Meet Whittlesea Eagles donate $200.00, which is awarded as part of the Whittlesea Secondary College the year 11 & year 12 VET awards, the school decides who and how much students receive. They money is presented by Steve Crocker President Whittlesea Football & Netball club at the schools awards night at the City of Whittlesea reception centre.
