Chartered 1996 June 2018 SOUTH CENTRAL PA CHAPTER NEWS Vol. 24, No. 6 www.twinroseladyriders.com www.meetup.com/twin-rose-lady-riders WOW: Twin Rose Lady Riders Chapter Hello Twin Roses and Support Guys, Well, our summer riding season is well under way and we finally got good weather for a Chapter ride (even though we had to trick Mother Nature and push it back one week). Sorry I was not in town but I was glad to see some new faces in the pics. Newbies please join us for another ride soon. Check out the fantastic pics from all the events this month. Summer riding would not be the same without MAWMR, which just completed, and the WOW Ride-In which is fast approaching. I m looking forward to the wonderful twisties surrounding Johnson City and all the fun of a Ride-In. Stay tuned for pics and stories from both of these great womenonly rallies. More fun business to take care of this fall is our Oct. 7th Ride for HOPE. It s never too early to start talking with your favorite dealer for their support and Well-travelled chucklets and friends just back from MAWMR (Mid-Atlantic Womens Motorcycle Rally) in VA and looking forward to the WOW Ride-In in TN. possible raffle prizes. Spread the word to your riding friends and request donations for an excellent cancer support organization HOPE https://hopelifeline.org/. Another item on our schedule this fall is Officer Nominations in November with elections in December for terms starting in January. Director and Treasure positions are elected and the Secretary position is volunteer. So we will be looking for nominations and volunteers in the next few months. It has been very rewarding and fulfilling to lead the Twin Roses as Director for 3 terms (the last 6 years!) and getting to know each of you. This fall, I will be looking to step down from this role for personal reasons but will definitely remain an active TRLR member and support the next Director in whatever way I can. Consider nominating yourself or someone you would like to see leading this wonderful group of motorcycle enthusiasts. Lots more fun to come in 2018 check out the calendar of events. Don t forget to share pics and stories of your own motorcycling adventures, too. Ride often and ride safe!! Happy Birthday Anne R...July 25 Roses, if your birthday has been missed send it (mo/day) to suespittle@comcast.net Lynn
Dawn s bike wanted to take a nap. Helpful bystanders woke it up. AMA District 6 Round Robin, May 20 by Dawn H As with so many of our scheduled rides this rainy spring, the same question came up Do we go or cancel? The weather has been iffy to say the least. Lynn and I decided we would go. I showed up at the Sheetz and found Lynn and Sigi waiting for me. Instead of pulling into a parking space I just pulled up and stopped, and after greeting the girls I started to fuss with my GPS, feeling frustrated cause I couldn t get it to work. I decided to pull into the shade to see better, and not paying attention to what I was doing, I upset and landed on the ground. Bruised ego and a bent windshield later we headed out. Our first stop was the Thunderbirds where we signed up and headed on our way to the Garden Spot clubhouse. There we got our slips signed, introduced ourselves and chatted with the guys. We left and headed to the Reading MC in Oley where we decided to have lunch. Our final destination for the day was Pagoda MC in Birdsboro. There we met an awesome lady and again introduced ourselves and chatted with her for a while. Sigi told us that we were close to her and Wolfie s new home so when we left Pagoda we headed to their place for a tour and an ice cream sandwich! We had a great ride and no rain. Lynn and I headed home feeling like we had a good day getting to know the other clubs. It s important to support the other clubs if we want them to support our event. Maybe next year we can put together a bigger group for this fun ride. Met the nicest folks at every stop. Stoppped at Sigi s new home for ice cream and to pet her wolf statue.
TRLR Ride to Carsonville Hotel, June 17 by Natalie Second Sunday Ride postponed to 3rd Sunday due to weather again. Suzy, Dawn s friends Lori & Bob, Dawn, Charlie, Sigi, Misse, Judy, and Nat s friend Lisa. Natalie took the photo. Hope some of the new faces ride with us again! We met at Marietta Sheetz and rode through ETown and Ft. Indiantown Gap. As a new FOO, I was a little nervous checking my mirrors and the speed limit signs on the way. We stopped at Funck s restaurant for a quick break and proceeded up Moonshine Rd. I always glance at the cemetery at Moonshine Church and think about the infamous Blue Eyed Six and their poor victim. (Worth a google search!) We turned onto Gold Mine Rd and enjoyed the twisties and switchbacks. All the ladies did a great job! I d forgotten how challenging the road to Carsonville Hotel can also be! Narrow and winding up the mountain. As I was pulling in to the limited parking area, I was shocked to see a Heritage Softail with the exact paint job as my Deluxe! I know it s a Harley paint scheme for 2011, but I have seen very few of them in the wild. We settled the bikes and met up with Suzy. She had travelled ahead and was waiting for us. After a yummy lunch of burgers and desserts, we made our way back down the mountain. The original plan was to go home through Lititz, but in true TRLR FOO fashion, I turned the wrong way on 443 and rode back towards Ft. Indiantown Gap. Oh well. It was warm and one of our members was having some issues with her bike, so in the end heading that way turned out for the best!
Following the Royals Prince William recently toured the Triumph factory in Hinckley, UK and posed for this photo op. If he looks comfortable it s because, below, THIS is him on his usual ride! It is said that Kate is not a fan. Prince William threw a leg over a Bonneville Bobber then headed for a polo match on his Ducati 1198s. CHATTER BOX Our Purple Roses, Bernie & Audrey Dawn, are looking colorful lately. Bernie and Sigi will be Hitting the Road cruising the Bluegrass states with Tamela Rich s motorcycle tour group. Bet they will be the only mother/daughter duo on the trip. We look forward to stories! He and brother Prince Harry have been riding on and off-road since they were kids. Together they took part in a grueling 8-day off-road motorcycle endurance rally across S. Africa for Harry s charity Prince Harry on his Harley back in Sentebale. The word 08. Since then he has owned a means forget me not and Ducati 848 and now a Triumph was started in memory Street Triple (recommended to him of Princess Diana. by pal David Beckham). From the TRLR Archives Monday, June 18 You can see in the photo above that Nat beat the traffic and got in to work early. Audrey Dawn also participated in Ride To Work day, but then had to Ride Back Home From Work at night in a thunderstorm. Not nearly as much fun. And NanC sent in this fun photo from the day saying, When you are retired, riding to work can be challenging! We were somewhat embarrassed to interrupt the HOPE Bingo Game to present our 2007 poker run proceeds to Barb -- but she insisted we come up on stage. Then the neatest thing happened! Barb invited all women in the audience who were breast cancer survivors to come up and join us! Very moving.
