We would like to wish the family and friends of local surfer and ex-jnr member Billy Davies our heartfelt sympathies and prayers. Billy passed away last week. I didn t know him well but in the short time I did he made a distinct impression on me. I had the privilege of sharing some waves and laughs with him the Sunday evening before the Superbowl all seemed well. It seemed like he was always there either surfing or stand up paddling. He was a positive force out in the line up and will be great missed and fondly remembered. As you see from the banner at the top of the page we will be meeting at Corners Ocean Bar and Grill this coming Monday March 1 st at 7PM. Happy hour prices will be available thru the meeting and it looks like they have a great menu. Check it out at jupitercorners.com. Justin Beard from the Stuart Single Fin Showdown will be joining us to give us any overview of the contest and sign you up if you are so inclined. Corky Roche will also be there to give us an intro on a new Surf History Project exhibit that will open in conjunction with the Stuart contest at the Elliot Museum. I was sitting at the JNR picnic spot at Carlin Park Sunday morning enjoying the beautiful albeit flat morning and realized it is about that time for a quarterly picnic. We will also be deciding on that and a location for it at this meeting. If you haven t done so already please send in your 2010 dues (application attached).
