Not only is Canada one of the most vulnerable countries to the impacts of climate change, but as a nation it is one of the highest consumers of energy. Canada has been warming at a rate substantially greater than the global rate, with average annual temperatures increasing by 1.2 C between 1948 and 2005. In some parts of Canada, temperatures have even gone up by 2 C or more Canada ranks an embarrassing 27th out of 29 countries, on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) nations list for energy use per capita Canadians annually consume 6.19 tonnes of oil equivalent per capita. This is almost double the OECD average of 3.18 tonnes, and more than five times the world average. Only residents of Iceland and Luxembourg use more energy per capita than us As Canadians, we need to step up in all possible ways. WWFCA19040_Toolkit_Biz_Workplace PPT_ENG.indd 3
