We are very excited to be partnering with Farmers Best Feed and Showtime Feeds in the production of this year s show. They are our Premier Show Sponsor and will also be our class winning feed sponsor. General Information/Rules: 1. All heifer exhibitors must be 21 and under as of January 1, 2018. All steer, hog, sheep and goat exhibitors must be ages 19 and under as of January 1, 2018. 2. Entry fees for Show A: Lambs and Goats - $35 per entry Hogs - $35 per entry Steers and heifers - $40 per entry Wether Dams - $20 per entry Showmanship - $10 per entry 3. Entry fees for Show B: Lambs and Goats - $35 per entry Hogs - $35 per entry Steers and heifers - $40 per entry Wether Dams - $20 per entry Showmanship - $10 per entry 4. 5. PEN OPTIONS: a. Cattle exhibitors: tie space will be assigned unless you indicate that you re renting horse stalls, or showing out of trailers. b. Sheep and Goat exhibitors: rent horse stalls (see #5 below) or show out of trailers. c. Hog exhibitors: MUST show out of trailers. The hog show will be taking place in a tent in the south parking lot of the facility. IF POSSIBLE (not guaranteed), a limited amount of pens will be rented to accommodate exhibitors who absolutely cannot show out of their trailers, or who enter singles (to alleviate trailer parking spaces). 6. HORSE STALLS: reserve with Natalie by email nreis1986@gmail.com or by text (530)682-0356. Payments will be made to Rolling Hills Equestrian Center upon arrival. 7. RV RENTAL: send an RV reservation form to Northern Exposure, with payment made to Rolling Hills Equestrian Center to reserve your spot. They will be assigned on a first come, first served basis!! Because of the popularity of the RV spots, RHEC will be adding 20 RV spots on the South side of the RV park that will have power only (no water). 8. Entries must be postmarked by March 1, 2018. Late entries will be accepted prior to the show, provided space permits. Late entries will be charged an additional fee. 9. ALL Heifer, Hogs, Sheep and Goats must be in place Friday, March 17 by 6 PM. All steers must be in place by 4 PM Friday. Official Hog, Sheep and Goat weigh in will take place Friday evening. NO SATURDAY MORNING WEIGH IN!!! Steer weigh in will take place Saturday evening at the completion of the heifer show (approximately 5PM). 10. There will be NO REFUNDS on entries paid to the Northern Exposure!!!! 11. Management reserves the right to change anything that will better accommodate and/or improve the show. 12. Each exhibitor must show his/her own animal. Any exception must be approved prior to the show by the show management. If, and only if, a showman is currently showing one animal and has another animal show 13. Bedding can be provided by the exhibitor or it will be available for purchase. Please use designated dumping areas only!! NO TRASH in bedding/manure dump areas!! Upon departure, bedding DOES NOT have to be removed. However, please remove all trash!! 14. Ethical treatment of all animals and ethical conduct from the exhibitor is expected at Northern Exposure. 15. Any animal exhibiting signs of infectious or unsightly conditions will not be permitted to show at the Northern Exposure Junior as determined by a veterinarian. 16. Any animal that is deemed a safety hazard by show management will be disqualified with no refund. 17. PLEASE bring generators power is limited. 18. No dogs will be allowed at or around the show ring. 19. ALL CJLA RULES APPLY!! 20. OUT OF STATE EXHIBITORS MUST have appropriate health inspections and brand inspections! 21. Payouts will depend on the success of the show. All expenses must be paid prior to payouts being decided or disbursed. The Northern Exposure Events are self-sustaining and run independently on entry fees and sponsorships alone. There are no outside funds supporting these events!! Thank you for your consideration.

Goat Show 1. The goat show will have three divisions: Prospect, Progress and Market. Classes will be broken and posted the 2. Wether dams CAN NOT be dual entered in CJLA Show and in the Wether Dam Show. 2. Entry fee $20/head. No payouts. Awards for Champion and Reserve Wether Dam. 3. Wether dams will be evaluated as breeding animals. 4. Wether dams must have milk teeth or yearling teeth. 5. Wether dams must have an ear tag or permanent legible tattoo, prior to weigh-in. 6. Structural correctness disqualifications are at the discretion of the judge. 7. Does may be shown with or without horns. 8. Does may be shown with or without being slick shorn. 9. All doe and ewe classes will be broken by weight. Sheep and Goat Showmanship 1. Showmanship (age as of January 1, 2018): Junior Division (12 & under) Intermediate Division (13-15) and Senior Division (16-19). Show A showmanship on Saturday and Show B showmanship on Sunday. 2. All exhibitors must show their own animal. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! 3. Exhibitor must have an animal entered in Show B to be eligible for Show B Showmanship. 4. FITTING IS OPTIONAL FOR SHOWMANSHIP!!

Hog Show 1. **NEW IN 2018** - The hog show will be taking place inside a tent!! It will be set up for exhibitors to show out of their trailers VERY CONVENIENTLY!!!! 2. **NEW IN 2018** - Saturday PM HOG SHOW (Show B)!!! 3. The swine show will have three divisions: Prospect, Progress and Market. Classes will be broken and posted the 4. Animals must be entered in Show B to be eligible for Show B Showmanship. Same applies for Show C. 5. Each exhibitor MUST show his/her own animal. Any exception must be approved prior to the show b the show Hog Showmanship 1. Steer Show SHOW RULES 1. The steer show will have two divisions: Prospect and Progress. Classes will be broken and posted the day of the show following official weigh-in. 2. The steer show will have three breed divisions: British (Registered Angus, Hereford and Shorthorn to be shown together), AOC (All Other Colors), and Black/Black X. Official breed classification will be verified at the scale. Management s decision is final!! 3. A copy of registration papers for British steers should accompany entry form and an original copy should be presented to show staff during or before weigh in! 4. Animals must be entered in Show B to be eligible for Show B Showmanship. 5. Each exhibitor MUST show his/her own animal. Any exception must be approved prior to the show b y the show Market Heifer Division 1. This division WILL NOT receive CJLA points. If an exhibitor chooses to use a market heifer in showmanship, they will not receive CJLA Showmanship points! 2. The Market Heifer Show will NOT be broken by breed, ONLY by weight. There WILL NOT be a prospect, progress, market division champions. ONLY an overall champion market heifer will be selected. 3. The overall Champion Market Heifer will compete in the Supreme Steer Selection. 4. Northern Exposure management will break and post the classes on the day of the show following official weigh - in. 5. Weight discrepancies must be decided before the animal leaves the scale. Heifer Show 1. ALL Heifers must be in place by Friday evening at 6 PM. 2. All heifers must be registered in the name of the exhibitors and the original papers must be presented at check-in. Check-in will take place unitl Friday at 6PM. 3. All breeding cattle exhibitors are required to send a copy of the official registration papers with entry forms and the ORIGINAL REGISTRATION PAPERS ARE REQUIRED AT SHOW CHECK-IN. 4. **NEW**The heifer show will have the following divisions: Hereford (polled and horned combined), Angus, Shorthorn, Maine-Anjou (including Maintainers), Charolais, Chi/Chi x and AOB. We will also be offering a commercial/grade (non-registered) heifer division that WILL NOT be included for CJLA points or Supreme Female judging. Showmanship 1. Cattle Showmanship (age as of January 1, 2018): Junior Division (12 & Under) Intermediate Division (13-15) and Senior Division (16-21). 2. Steer and Heifer showmanship are combined. 3. Show A showmanship on Saturday (steers and heifers) and Show B showmanship on Sunday (steers and heifers). 4. All exhibitors must show their own animal. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! 5. FITTING IS OPTIONAL FOR SHOWMANSHIP!! 6. You must have an animal entered in Show A/Show B to participate in Show A/Show B Showmanship (including the animal you choose to use in showmanship).
