Competition As long as Oviedo High School continues to meet requirements set by Seminole County, OHS will still compete for the 2014 2015 school year. With that in mind, competition is a privilege, not a right. It is our first priority as OHS cheerleaders to support our school. Second is competition in which our competitive squad will have the opportunity to promote Oviedo as a community at Regional, State and National competitions. The coaches and Administration reserve the right to schedule all competitions in compliance with Seminole County Public Schools Cheerleading Policies. *This year there will be a separate tryout to determine who will be on the competition squad. We will have girls from all 3 OHS cheerleading squads, you must be on one of the squads to tryout for the competitive team. There will be requirements to make the squad and based off those we will decide how many make the Competitive team. Skill Requirements Each cheerleader will be evaluated on the following: Standing Tumbling standing back tuck and/or standing back handspring back tuck Running Tumbling Round off back handspring tuck Stunts Motions Toe Touch Jump Ability to lead and engage a crowd Student Signature Parent Signature

General Cheerleading Rules 1. All cheerleaders are governed by the Seminole County Code of Conduct and Citizenship Policy. The link to this can be found at the bottom of the page. Conduct detrimental to the team will not be tolerated. Incidents will be dealt with, on a case by case basis. Repeated incidences can result in benchings/dismissal from the team as per the coach s and/or administration s discretion. Examples of detrimental conduct may include but are not limited to being disrespectful by words, actions or attitude, including on social media, toward a coach or teammate, being late to or missing games, practices or other mandatory events, and receiving discipline referrals. 2. A schedule will be issued in advance and all events are mandatory when scheduled by the coach. ONLY the coach can add or make changes to the schedule. Changes may occur at any time; the coaches will give as much notice as possible. 3. OHS shares athletes, so, if a cheerleader is participating in another sport, club or activity you must keep in mind that OHS cheerleading is your first priority. If there is a conflict, coaches must know ahead of time (more than 1 day) in writing and arrangements MUST be made with the coaches. 4. When there is a scheduled uniform to a game, cheerleader must be in full uniform. Full uniform includes squad socks and shoes, uniform with bloomers, hair up and out of your face with designated colored ribbon and no jewelry. Changes will be made due to weather only. 5. Whenever a cheerleader is in uniform of OHS cheerleading attire, you should conduct yourself as a lady. No foul language, disrespect or inappropriate public displays of affection. People are always watching student athletes. 6. All practices are closed to family and friends. This will assure the total focus on the tasks to be accomplished. 7. Cheerleaders are required to replace all lost Oviedo High School uniforms and property. This is not the responsibility of the program. If an article has not been replaced the cheerleader will not be able to participate in their graduation until payment has been received. Field Trip Rules 8. When taking a trip all cheerleaders will ride the bus to and from the event. We will have a bus to ALL away football games. Riding home with a parent is NOT permitted. 9. The starting point and ending point for ALL events will be Oviedo High School. 10. While cheering at any event you are expected to support and cheer the teams to victory. This is not the time to socialize. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action. Cheerleaders should use the halftime to take care of any individual needs. 11. Competitions are considered a field trip and will follow the same guidelines as any other event. Cheerleaders will focus on the competition and will be allowed to socialize at stated times by the coach. 12. We will NOT have parent chaperones at competition. 3 coaches are plenty for 20 girls. If parents want to attend the event and stay at the same hotel that is fine, but please give the girls space, we would like to keep them as focused as possible. Please note that a social media code of conduct is currently being developed and will be in effect for the 2014-2015 school year throughout Seminole County. SCPS Code of Conduct can be found below and the Citizenship Policy is on page 24. http://www.scps.k12.fl.us/portals/53/assets/pdf/policyfiles/studentconductdisciplinecode.pdf Student Signature Parent Signature
