www.atlantahog.com October 2008 HOGWASH DIRECTOR S ARTICLE I m just about packed and ready to head to Tybee Island for the State Rally, by the tme you read ths, the rally wll be over and hopefully fall wll be on the way. Speakng of ralles, I have read several artcles lately about the Myrtle Ralles and the cty wantng to shut them down. The last one I read sad that the cty was n the process of rasng taxes to offset the losses from not havng the ralles. I guess the thng that surprsed me s the fact that durng the packed cty councl meetng no one spoke out for the ralles. Why would the Cty of Myrtle Beach be wllng to lose all the money generated by the ralles? My guess s on account of a few, the majorty s not welcome anymore. All of us have been on rdes and to events where there are a few people who have to show ther rear ends. Burnouts, revvng the bke as loud as t wll rev, or just beng loud and obnoxous. The frst year I went to Panama Cty Beach for Thunder Beach t was fun, the polce were lad back and everyone had a good tme. Every year snce then you can see that few takng a toll on everyone else s fun. The reason I m wrtng ths s to remnd everyone that when you rde, be t around town or n another part of the country remember to respect others rghts just lke you want your rghts respected. There s a reason why communtes create nose ordnances, harass rally goers, and try to run the bkers out of town. It s due to those few who chose to show ther rear ends and run everyone else s fun. Please honor others rghts and don t be one of those few. Autumn s just ahead of us and some of the best rdng weather of the year s fnally here. I hope everyone gets to get out and rde and wll jon the chapter on some of our rdes. Chrs Robey, Drector ASSISTANT DIRECTOR S ARTICLE By the tme you read ths t wll be almost October and The Offcal Newsletter of the Atlanta Chapter, Inc. Chapter Number 0788 the leaves wll be changng and even rght now the rde calendar s full. We are almost 10 months nto the year, and t has been a great one. Chrs and I set some goals for ourselves as chapter offcers, well really t was a lst of thngs not to do, and I feel that we along wth the chapter have come a long way. We set goals of not makng the chapter go broke and not to run everyone off, so far we ve accomplshed both. I hope the chapter s to everyone what t s to me. It s my Rdng Famly. I know t can t be everythng to everyone, and I want everyone to know that Chrs, and I don t thnk of t as our chapter, t s your chapter. You guys have made t a chapter that I m proud to be a part of. I also want to remnd everyone that the tme to renew your chapter membershp s soon approachng. In the October Hogwash, you wll fnd a membershp applcaton fll that out and get t back along wth your dues to Rene at the dealershp pror to December 31 to renew your chapter membershp. We wll be havng some plannng meetng toward the end of the year to get deas on drectons that the chapter wll be headng n next year. Some thoughts I have had are some fund rasers throughout the year to rase money for our Chrstmas Party. Furthermore, for anyone who mssed the August chapter meetng we are lookng to go n halves wth the dealershp to sponsor a Medcal Needs K-9 and have t named Atlanta Harley. Rather than pull money out of our general funds I would lke to rase addtonal money to do ths. As the dog s traned, we wll try to get the traner and handler to make perodc stops at meetngs and whatnot. Well, I hope every one of you are enjoyng rdng and can come out and rde wth your brothers and ssters n the chapter. Bobby Conway, Assstant Drector

SAFETY OFFICER S ARTICLE What Does t Mean? When a whte roadway sgn ncludes the words Speed Lmt, t represents the maxmum speed that you may legally drve on that road. Have you ever notced a yellow roadway sgn that ndcated 30 M.P.M., and you just keep on rdng at your current speed? Sure you have. Ths roadway sgn s a speed advsory sgn and represents the maxmum speed at whch you are assumed to be able to safely travel on that roadway due to the condtons that may be ahead of you. Be aware of all speed lmt sgns and respect the speed advsory sgns.
