The Centre A first class facility delivering a high level of specialist training courses to both on and offshore industries. Concentrating on the following disciplines in which we offer an extensive range of training: Working at height Confined space and vessel entry Blasting and painting All disciplines include awareness modules, trade testing and competency assessments. We also offer bespoke training packages designed to respond to the individual clients specific requirements some of which can be delivered on-site.. Location The Centre is ideally located within easy reach of Aberdeen centre, train station and only a short distance from the Aberdeen airport. Our training facility, including the classrooms, indoor area and exterior blasting and painting unit are all available for private hire at excellent day rates. We can offer a full service tailored to a clients needs to include, for instance, administration and record keeping for specific projects. WAH Unit 1. Height Safety Awareness Course overview The course is designed to introduce candidates who are not actively involved in working at height to the requirements of the regulations. The course provides an outline of the legislation, equipment standards, equipment selection, marking, inspection, record keeping and maintenance. Course structure ½ day classroom theory learning and presentation. WAH Unit 2. PPE User Course overview The course is designed for candidates who are actively involved in working at height. It provides an outline of the legislation, equipment standards, marking, inspection, record keeping and maintenance. Training is given in the correct practical use of PPE along with a theoretical knowledge, intended purpose and as close as possible to the candidates work situation. Practical inspection and defects identification is carried out using differentiated set of samples. Course structure ½ day classroom theory learning and presentation. ½ day practical exercises and training. Assessment by means of multichoice questions. Course content Theory Working at height legislation, working at height categories, hierarchy of measures, equipment legislation, equipment inspection and maintenance, selection and safe use of equipment, fall and impact forces, rescue provision. Practical Identification of equipment using samples, identification of damaged equipment, correct fitting of the harnesses, ladder ascent and descent using temporary and permanent systems, use of work restraint systems, use of fall arrest systems, use of horizontal safety life lines 1 day, Aberdeen Certificate of Competence, expiry 3 years Safety boots Delegates must be aged 18 or over To book: 01224 246499.

WAH Unit 3. Use of Rescue Equipment Course overview This course is designed for candidates who are actively involved in working at height and responsible for the rescue and recovery of personnel working at height. The course extends the knowledge of the legislation regarding the risk assessment, rescue provision and practical skills of the candidate. Intensive training is given in the practical rescue using PPE along with a theoretical knowledge and as close as possible to the candidates work potential emergency situation. The currently instruct using the Gotcha system however our instructors are trained in various different manufacturers products and can tailor the course to suit a clients requirements. Course structure 1 day work site practical exercises, training and presentation. Assessment by means of multi-choice question paper. Course content Theory 10% Overview of working at height, legislation and practice, hazard awareness, fall and impact forces, rescue and suspension trauma, management of stress in a rescue situation, rescue equipment and systems, selection and safe use of rescue equipment and successful communication Practice 90% Rising and lowering of the casualty, the use of self locking descender, practical exercises of emergency response 1 day, Aberdeen Certificate of Competence, expiry 3 years Safety boots All delegates must be aged 18 or over. Managing Safety of Work at Height Course overview This course is designed for candidates who are involved in management or supervisory roles to ensure compliance with working at height regulations. The course provides detailed knowledge of the application of the hierarchy of risk, selection of working at height methods in relation to the hierarchy of risk and work at height supervision. The course provides an outline of the legislation, equipment standards, marking, inspection, record keeping and maintenance and gives an overview of the whole process of a safe and systematic approach to working at Height. Course structure 1 day classroom learning, presentation and practical demonstrations. Assessment by means of multi-choice question paper. Course content Theory Working at height legislation, working at height categories, hierarchy of measures, equipment legislation, equipment control, records and maintenance, selection and planning of working at height method, selection and safe use of equipment, risk assessment Hazard analysis, fall and impact forces, rescue provision. PPE Inspection Course overview The course is designed to introduce candidates who are actively involved in the control of working at height equipment to the requirements of the appropriate regulations. The course provides an outline of the legislation, equipment standards, equipment selection, marking, inspection, record keeping and maintenance. Confined Space-Vessel Entry Course Incorporating BA Users - 1 day Overview This course is designed as a basic introduction to confined spaces and vessel entry and in the use of breathing apparatus. It will allow personnel to wear breathing apparatus safely and with confidence. This is aimed at persons who may be required to enter confined spaces as part of their duties and may be called upon to wear breathing apparatus in an irrespirable atmosphere By the end of the course the delegates will have the knowledge, skills and understanding to safely enter confined spaces and the understanding to safely wear breathing apparatus in hazardous atmospheres. Structure This course includes lectures, videos, demonstrations and practical exercises and handouts. OPITO Approved 3 day Trainee Blasting and Painting Course Overview This comprehensive training course has been designed for delegates with little or no experience in the painting and blasting industry. The course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge required to enter into a career in blasting and painting as a trainee. Structure The course consist of a mixture of theory and supervised practical sessions. Blasting & Painting 2 Day Competency Assessment In accordance with the OPITO Standard Overview The course is designed for experienced candidates who are actively involved in Blasting & Painting. The candidates will be assessed against the OPITO competence standard, should actual training in this discipline be required a candidate should attend our OPITO trainee course. Successful achievement of this course will depend on demonstrating a good level of relevant health & safety knowledge and practical ability to paint, blast and spray to a recognised standard. Structure The course is a mixture of theory and practical sessions. Assessment by means of multiple-choice question papers and observation reports. Content The candidates will be expected to demonstrate a good working knowledge of: Theory Blasting & painting legislation.
