FORMAT ON DAY 1 (SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2018): Day 1 of the contest will be on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Eligible contest races will include all live races from Santa Anita Park and three (3) select stakes races from Pimlico Racecourse, on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The three (3) stakes races from Pimlico Racecourse will include the 2018 Preakness Stakes and two (2) stakes races that are TBD (these stakes races will be announced on Thursday, May 17, 2018).
5. WAGER FORMAT ON DAY 1 (SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2018): Permitted wagers on Saturday, May 19, 2018 will include Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, and Daily Double. No Superfecta, Super High 5, Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5 or Pick 6 wagers will be permitted in the contest. 6. REQUIRED BETTING MINIMUMS ON DAY 1 (SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2018): On Saturday, May 19, 2018, each entry must wager on five (5) contest races, wagering a minimum of $1,000, per race. This means each entry must wager a minimum of $1,000 on at least five (5) eligible contest races (See Item 4 for information on eligible contest races). There are no maximums on the amount a player may wager. Players may wager winnings from their bankroll, whenever they wish. It is the player s responsibility to meet the wagering requirements listed above. If a player fails to reach the wagering minimums or places a wager on their official contest card other than Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, or Daily Double on an eligible contest race, that entry can be disqualified from the contest. Contest officials will make all decisions on disqualification from the contest in the event of a rule violation and all decisions are final. In the event of a disqualification, the remaining bankroll on the player s wagering card remains the property of the player. Players who do not meet the minimum wagering requirements ($5,000) for the contest will be charged a hospitality fee of $250 to cover event tickets, food, and beverage charges. 7. DAY 2 QUALIFICATIONS (SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018) After the results of the final contest race on Saturday, May 19, 2018 are declared official, the players with the eight (8) largest bankrolls in the contest standings will advance to the Final Table on Day 2 of the 2018 Santa Anita Preakness Challenge on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Players whose bankrolls do not finish in the first eight (8) places in the contest standings will be able to cash out their contest cards after the results of the last contest race on Saturday, May 19, 2018 have been declared official. 8. PURCHASING A RE-ENTRY All players may purchase a maximum of one (1) re-entry into the 2018 Santa Anita Preakness Challenge on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The re-entry will cost $6,000, with $5,000 being applied to a new official contest card for the purpose of the participant s bankroll, and the remaining $1,000 being added to the contest prize pool. Re-entries may only be purchased when a player s current bankroll reaches $2, or less. Once a re-entry is purchased, the player s first contest card will be removed from the contest, meaning any wagers placed after the purchase of the re-entry on the player s first contest card will not be counted toward the player s contest bankroll. A re-entry will be considered a new entry, and therefore, a player will be required to bet the Day 1 required minimums, as explained in Item 6, with their re-entry bankroll.
9. FORMAT FOR DAY 2 (SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018): The players with the top eight (8) largest bankrolls after Saturday, May 19, 2018 will compete at the Final Table at Santa Anita Park on Sunday, May 20, 2018. These eight (8) players will compete on Sunday, May 20, 2018 with a mythical bankroll equal to their respective totals after the final contest race on Saturday, May 19, 2018. For example, if Player A finishes with a bankroll of $10,000 on Saturday, May 19, 2018 and qualifies to compete at the Final Table, Player A will begin Day 2 on Sunday, May 20, 2018 with a mythical bankroll of $10,000. On Day 2 of the contest, all players at the Final Table may only place one (1) mythical Win wager on a maximum of one (1) horse per each live race carded for Santa Anita Park on Sunday, May 20, 2018. 10. WAGER FORMAT ON DAY 2 (SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018): The eight (8) players who make the Final Table on Sunday, May 20 will place mythical one horse Win wagers on Santa Anita s races. The required minimum amount to bet for each race on Sunday, May 20, 2018 will increase as the race card proceeds. Starting on Race 1 on Sunday, May 20, 2018 the minimum mythical one horse Win bet will be $1,000, with the minimum amount increasing $500 each subsequent race. A player may bet more than the required minimum on a race, so long as their bankroll permits. When the value of a player s bankroll is less than the next required bet minimum for a race, that player will be eliminated from the contest. To continue participating at the Final Table, a player s current bankroll must be equal to, or more than, the required bet minimum for the next contest race. 11. DAY 2 SCRATCHES & ALTERNATE SELECTIONS (SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018) Each player competing at the Final Table on Sunday, May 20, 2018 will have the option of declaring an alternate one horse Win wager that will be used only in the event that their preferred horse is scratched from the race, or declared a non-starter. In which case, that contestant s alternate selection will become their selection for that race. Players may declare their alternate one horse Win wagers on every race that they are competing in on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Players can make the alternate one horse Win wager for a different amount than their preferred one horse Win wager. In the event that a player does not declare an alternate one horse Win wager, and the horse that the player used in their preferred Win wager is scratched from the race, or declared a non-starter, a default Win bet will be placed, on behalf of the player, on the post-time favorite as determined by the final win odds at the required wager minimum. 12. DAY 2 WAGERING & PARTICIPATION: The 2018 Santa Anita Preakness Challenge will be the subject of a future television series about handicapping horse races. In order to compete, all players must agree to reasonable requests from the production crew. These requests may include being filmed, wearing a microphone, being temporarily relocated and consenting to various interviews on Saturday, May 19, 2018 and Sunday, May 20, 2018. Failure to meet the above stated publicity requirement, as determined at the sole discretion of WHT Enterprises, LLC, will result in disqualification from the contest.
Players must follow a special two-step betting procedure on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Step 1 involves each player giving their mythical wager information to a television producer off-camera. Step 2 requires the player to then approach the wagering window to reiterate the same mythical wager to a simulated mutuel clerk while on camera. The off-camera mythical wager will be a written statement including the amount bet and the horse number along with a confirming signature from each respective player. Players allow the television producers final say on wardrobe matters, especially when it comes to logos. Players may not advertise competitors of Daily Racing Form and/or Santa Anita Park/The Stronach Group. 13.
