Adirondack Trek Summit BASE Summit High Adventure Base at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation

Live Your Own Adventure Get on Trek The Summit Base trek program provides exciting opportunities coinciding with all seasons. During the summer season five and ten day trips are offered with weekend trips during the fall, winter and spring. Where you will go Anywhere in the fabulous six million acres that make up the Adirondack Park in upstate New York. This gorgeous land is filled with lakes, streams, rivers, hills and meadows. Try one or more of the fortysix mountains that are over four thousand feet high. Nothing can provide a finer outdoor experience than a week in this fabulous outdoor playground. What you will do Canoeing treks can take you through the most popular Adirondack waters such as Blue Mountain Lake, Tupper Lake and the Raquette River. We provide all necessary gear and equipment for your high adventure trip. Backpacking treks have a great variety of possibilities. You could traverse through the High Peaks region summiting any of the forty six highest mountains in New York State. However, only the most serious backpackers attempt the twelve-day, 122 mile, Northville to Lake Placid trail. Rock Climbing treks can give you a solid introduction to one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Our staff can further educate even your most confident climber. We provide all the necessary climbing equipment. Mini Treks are a three day sampler of our full week adventures. Two overnights provide an introduction to many of our high adventure trek experiences. Weekends during spring and fall, mid-week during summer. Qualified Staff Winter Treks are a new addition to the Summit Base program. Experience the Adirondack winter with a weekend snowshoe adventure. Summit Base only employs highly trained and certified staff for all of your high adventure treks. Holding either a New York State Guide certification or BSA Trek Leader Certification, each guide is also qualified with BSA Life Guard, CPR and Wilderness First Aide training. Your group is sure to be prepared for your adventure with Summit Base.

Combination Trips Oh the Places Combination treks offer the best of both worlds. Take a few days to hike to a NY State Boat Launch where you will be met by canoes to complete your trek on the waterways. A few Summit Base favorites Upper Works to Tarbell Rd (backpacking), Long Lake to Axton Landing (canoe): 31 miles backpacking, ascend MacNaughton and Henderson mountains. 24 miles canoeing. One 1.5 mile carry. 5 day trek. Supply with canoes midweek. Cedar River to Caitlin Bay (backpacking), Long Lake to Axton Landing (canoe): Backpacking miles: 20. Canoeing miles: 23 Canoe supply and transport to Long Lake occurs midweek. Customize your experience Want to see specifics sites in the park? No problem. Email: monique.wicks@scouting.org to plan your customized adventure. Provisional Treks Don t have a full crew to get out on trek? Each summer provisional treks are offered for individual scouts looking to get out on their own adventures. Ask about our provisional trek program. You Will Go Lake Champlain Kayak Trek Kayak treks are 5-10 days of high adventure kayaking on Lake Champlain. High adventure sea kayaking and camping on America s Sixth Great Lake where some of the greatest inland sea kayaking can be found. This trip is recommended for older, more experienced scouts in your troop. Kayaking or boating experience is helpful but not needed. Voyage distance expected to be 50-100 miles. Challenging conditions likely. Contact us: Email: monique.wicks@scouting.org Phone: 914-449-2613
