OPTUS SATDATA DATA AESS IN HARD TO REAH PLAES OPTUS SATELLITE

OPTUS SATELLITE SATDATA ONNETIVITY FROM OFFIE TO OFFIE Being part of a global market means that you need international, real time communication links to maintain access to your remote sites and offices outside of Australia. That s where the Optus SatData International service comes in, with the ability to provide you with data connectivity between Australia and most areas of the globe. Optus Satellite has its own fleet of satellites, and we also have a number of relationships with other satellite operators to access their satellites. This means customers have the benefit of extending the coverage footprint to a range of off-shore locations. We are then able to transport your high speed data via our own or third party satellites, to international destinations and land back in Australia at our International Teleports. Delivery from our International Teleport to your Australian based data centre or head office can be routed via the Optus terrestrial network to provide an end to end solution, if required. Optus SatData International services support high bandwidths, which enable voice, data and video traffic. The service is made up of fixed bandwidth dedicated channels, which are assigned for full time usage - 24 hours a day. Remote site equipment The remote site equipment transmits and receives the satellite signal and connects it to your local area network. Typical equipment at a remote site includes a -Band transmit/receive antenna, satellite modem, block upconverter (BU) and a lownoise block downconverter (LNB). You have the option of providing your own remote site equipment, or we can help you with equipment selection and order it for you. If you choose to supply your own equipment, keep in mind that it will need to comply with the requirements of the relevant satellite operator. Satellite The satellite receives, amplifies and retransmits signals between remote terminals and the Optus SatData International Teleport in Australia. SatData International Teleport Our teleports provide access to and from international satellites and are located at Oxford Falls, (Sydney, NSW) and Lockridge (Perth, WA). They have been specifically designed to provide high availability, which means less downtime for you or your business. Terrestrial onnectivity We can provide you with a terrestrial backhaul connection between our teleport and your Australian premises, or you can arrange a connection through another provider.

Perth OPTUS International Teleports Sydney OUR INFRASTRUTURE The Optus Satellite fleet currently consists of six geostationary satellites providing satellite services across Australia and New Zealand, and to McMurdo Sound in the Antarctic. The Optus owned satellite fleet is controlled from our major satellite facility located in the Sydney suburb of Belrose. We also have a sister facility located in the Perth suburb of Lockridge. Lockridge is both a domestic and international gateway on the west coast, for services from other international satellite operators. Optus international gateway on the East oast is located at Oxford Falls, in Sydney, New South Wales. Our two international teleports have antennas pointed at third party satellites in the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions. ombining these teleports with our own satellites means that we are able to extend the coverage of our Optus Satellite services across most of the globe. We have equipped our facilities with substantial back up satellite transmission capability - with diverse links between them utilising the Optus terrestrial network. This achieves a high level of robustness, resilience and service availability. The above map represents approximate coverage of third party satellites provided from Optus International Teleports located at Perth, WA and Sydney, NSW. It also represents additional coverage that can be supported using Optus Partner Teleports, or third party capacity supplier s teleports, outside of Australia. Optus International Teleports currently provide access to third party -Band satellites using 11m and 16m antennas. Service orders are subject to capacity availability at the time of the order. Optus Teleports can also provide secure rack space for customers that wish to use their own satellite modems or hubs, or arrange their own satellite transponder capacity directly with satellite operators - and only want access to Optus Antennas. Feasibility of this Teleport service to customers is assessed on a case-by-case basis. This option can give the customer a higher level of control and flexibility over their own service. OPTUS SATELLITE SATDATA WHAT ARE THE FEATURES? Optus standard SatData International service can support data links up to 25Mbps duplex (symmetrical or asymmetrical). Higher data rates can also be addressed on a case-bycase basis. The service is typically designed to provide annual propagation availability in excess of 99.9% in each direction. Using a Single hannel per arrier (SP) connection, combined with arrier in arrier technology (when applicable) for bandwidth efficiency, you get a high speed data service that runs between customer premises in Australia, and remote customer sites outside of Australia. Optus SatData can: - Deliver a highly available service; and - Deliver network services that enable connectivity into a customer s private network, via Optus terrestrial products. Optus Teleports offer redundant uplink and downlink access to a number of Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean satellites. Network Management Systems (NMS) which are co-located at Optus Teleports provide monitoring and reporting on the status of Teleport equipment, including satellite modems. The satellite modems at the Teleports are also provided with redundancy. Optus regularly refreshes the technology in accordance with the market trends. Our current modems offer higher modulation schemes up to 16-QAM and advance coding such as Turbo Product oding (TP), Low-density paritycheck (LDP) and VersaFE. This is in addition to standard QPSK and 8-PSK modulation and Reed-Solomon coding. Satellite transmission can be further optimised using DoubleTalk arrier-in-arrier Bandwidth ompression technology, which is supported by the satellite modems. Our SatData International service can be provisioned with optional Out-of-Band Monitoring. This feature enables our engineers to monitor the status of critical satellite equipment at the remote site, without using valuable satellite bandwidth dedicated to carry your traffic. In the case of major service outage, out-of-band monitoring can be useful to analyse the status of your remote equipment and in some cases even help to restore the service remotely. ONNETING YOU + + AT EVERY STAGE

IT S THE AESS SOLUTION FOR YOUR OFFIES. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
