Are you interested in dancing with an Impact Dance Center team? 1. It is HIGHLY recommended that you enroll in summer classes and/or workshops prior to auditions so that your instructors may observe you in class. 2. Skill requirements vary by team. It is recommended that dancers book a private lesson and/or enroll in a Technique class to receive additional feedback on their progress. What to turn in with your Audition Form(s): 1. Copy of birth certificate 2. Copy of most recent report card You must register online prior to your age-appropriate Audition!

All IDC teams have the same high standards of technique, performance, and responsibility, but differ in time and financial commitment. Which is a better fit for your student and your family? PREMIERE TEAM Dancers age 6-8 experience performing year-round in community events and 2-3 regional competitions. Focus is on nurturing a love of dance through weekly technique classes, team rehearsals, community performances, and 1-2 regional competitions. PERFORMANCE TROUPE This team represents Impact Dance Center throughout the year at community performances and 1-2 regional competitions. For dancers age 7-18 seeking additional training who love to perform! Weekly commitment is from 5-10 hours per week. COMPANY DIVISION An intensive training ground for serious minded dancers looking for competitive and performance opportunities in concert and commercial work. Dancers range in age from 8-18 and train 8-20 hours per week, depending on level and age. These dancers have the opportunity to represent Impact Dance Center at regional and national competitions, conventions, master classes, community performances, and performance tours. Who is an Impact Team dancer? Impact Dance Center Team dancers are passionate and determined individuals who seek a higher level of dance training through focused weekly technique classes, workshops with master teachers from the dance industry, performing and competitive opportunities, and high-caliber & artistic choreographic works. Impact Team dancers actively seek and take advantage of opportunities. Impact Team dancers are not satisfied with good enough and work to execute a higher level of technique and artistry. Impact Team dancers take responsibility and take initiative. Impact Team dancers give their heart and soul to every class and performance because they understand that their gift of dance is meant to be shared. Above all, Impact Team dancers work hard to better themselves and their craft. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn t work hard. To the Parents We are very excited that your son/daughter is considering auditioning for our 2012-2013 Impact Dance Center Teams. When a dancer makes the team, in a very special way his/her parents do also. This is a year-long (August-July) commitment. Please be aware that this is NOT a win at all costs team. All members will strive for personal best but with the understanding that we all have different abilities, the most important being the willingness to make a solid commitment to the team. We re looking for well-rounded, teachable dancers who want to improve. Team commitments are in addition to your weekly class schedule. Auditions Dancers participate in an age/level appropriate dance intensive (Tech.Rep or Dance Club) where they will be observed by their instructors and choreographers. Dancers then attend the age-appropriate audition class on August 17. The age you will be on January 1, 2014 is the age group you must audition with. Dancers may be requested to stay for a later audition. Ages 6-8 8/17/13 9:00-10:30AM Ages 9-11 8/17/13 11:00-1:00PM Ages 12-19 8/17/13 1:30-3:30PM Dancers must pre-register (online) in their respective audition class prior to the audition. $10 Audition Fee. Dancers will maintain an average of a 2.0 GPA or better throughout the course of the season. Dancers who do not uphold the academic requirement will be put on probation, including parent conference and possible performance restrictions. Our team dancers and parents participate in many outside activities, each of which becomes a reflection of the studio s philosophy. Please keep the following in mind: We speak positively about teachers, dancers, or parents from other schools. We create positive solutions during events in which we participate. The studio director handles all communication with the directors of our outside activities. No parent or dancer may call or question the directors of any event. If you have a concern, please contact the directors. Attendance Policies (abbv) Team dancers must maintain a minimum average of 90% attendance in their weekly technique classes. Dancers with less than 90% for two (2) consecutive months will have a private parent/instructor/student meeting to address the solution. If poor attendance continues after meeting, the dancer will be dismissed from groups. At choreographer's discretion, team dancers will be removed from a piece after two (2) absences. We encourage mildly ill or injured dancers to do their best to attend rehearsal and observe the new material. Dancers who simply do not show up will be removed from the dance at the teacher's discretion. It is unacceptable for a choreographer to have to track anyone down. At choreographer's discretion, dancers who miss the material in a rehearsal will not perform in that section. Dancer Responsibility - It is the student's responsibility to be in class and to attend all classes once at the studio, including technique classes. It is also the dancer's responsibility to follow the correct attendance procedures when signing into their classes. Consequences may include: verbal warning, alternative class placement or removal from choreography or team. Parent Responsibility - It is the responsibility of the parent to encourage and monitor his or her student's dance attendance, to report all student absences, and to work cooperatively with the studio and student to solve any attendance problem that may arise. Impact Dance Center Teams all share common core values: - Provide great dance training and opportunity. - Create an environment where dancers get along with each other, and work smoothly and unselfishly. - Encourage leadership, confidence, and a sense of accountability and belonging to a team.
