The software is based around a complex professional strategy. It puts the power of professional punters into your hands at the click of a button. What you have in your hands could change your betting fortunes. Installation To install the software you must first make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Air. Please go to http://get.adobe.com/air/ in your web browser. You will see the screen above. Please click on the Download Now button and save the file. When you have downloaded the file, please run it and follow the instructions to install Adobe Air. Now that you have completed this, we can install the Betting Speed Evolution software. You will already have received the bettingspeedevolution.air file. Please double- click on this and follow the instructions for installation. That s it! You are now ready to get started finding winners. Page 5

Quick Start Guide Open the software by going to the Race Advisor folder, and double clicking on the Betting Speed Evolution icon. When you open the software you will see this screen You will see all of the days races listed under the Races tab. All the races are sortable by clicking on any of the column headers. You can also adjust the position of the columns by clicking and dragging a column header to a new position. Page 6

The software will find all the days selections for you automatically. To do this use the selection box on the bottom left of the screen. Select whether you want to find Back bets, Lay bets or All bets. Once you have selected the type of bets you would like to find, you need to press the Get Selections button to start the software analysing every race. When you press this button the software will go and perform an advanced analysis of each race. Once it has finished you will see blue and pink squares next to some of the races. This indicates whether the race has back or lay selections in it. Page 7

To see all your selections for the day click on the selections tab. This will have all the selections displayed. It is as simple as that to find selections in the Betting Speed Evolution software. The rules we use for placing each type of bet are Back Bet Rules Place all horses selected to win as long as their odds are 10 or lower. Page 8

Lay Bet Rules Place all horses selected to lay as long as the odds are 10 or lower. Please read the staking section for the staking plan to use with these selections. Page 9

Staking Plan This staking plan is intended for use with the auto- selections found by the software. We recommend using 2% of your bankroll for the back selections and 0.5% of your bankroll for the lay selections. If you want to bet on both then you should be using 1% of your bankroll on each selection. If possible re- calculate your stake size after each bet. Otherwise re- calculate your stake size each day. For lay bets, your stake is the amount your are betting on the horse, so your risk may be as much as 10 times this amount. Page 10

Placing Bets I recommend that you use Betfair to place your bets. Ideally you want to be placing your back bets mid- morning, around 11am and your lay bets just before the race goes off. However, this is not practical for most people and so I suggest placing your bets to Betfair SP or Best Odds Guaranteed. To do this, log into your Betfair account and go to the race you want to place your bet at. Make sure that the BSP checkbox, as shown above, has a tick in it. On Betfair, back bets are coloured blue and lay bets are coloured pink. Page 11

To place a back bet, click on the blue SP button for your selection. When you do this, you will get the selection added as a back bet to your betting slip. Enter your stake size and press Place Bets. Page 12

To place a lay bet, click on the pink SP button for your selection. When you do this, you will get the selection added as a lay bet to your betting slip. Because we only want this bet to place at maximum odds of 10.00 we need to set the odds limit. Click on the odds limit link, shown below. Page 13

This will bring up a new box Enter the Max Odds of 10 into this box and press OK. Then enter your stake and press the Place Bets button. Page 14

Understanding High Turnover Betting Betting Speed Evolution auto- selections are based on a high- turnover model. This means that there can be a large amount of selections each day. High turnover betting models rely on the long- term results to make a profit. What does this mean for you? You cannot look at BSE auto- selections in the short- term. We can have 10 or more selections each day and so during a downswing period you will see a lot of losing bets. If you only had a couple of selections each day then it would take you five days to see the same amount of betting activity as the BSE auto- selections. However, when we come out of the downswing we can also make profits very quickly. This is how a high- turnover model works. It is based on the knowledge that at the end of the year we will have come out in profit because the selections we are betting are winning more than they should This is nothing to worry about as long as you are managing your bankroll properly. If you are risk adverse then you may want to consider only betting 1% of your bankroll on back bets and 0.5% on both back and lay bets. Page 15

Analysing A Race In Detail Betting Speed Evolution is also an incredibly powerful horse racing analysis tool and I strongly recommend you learn how to use it to its maximum capability. Start by using it in Simple mode and then progress to the Advanced mode. If you like to do your own analysis, then Betting Speed Evolution takes the stress out of your hands. This is completely optional and you can just use the software selections. When you open a race, it will contain only the strongest runners in that race. These runners will be listed down the right hand side of the graph. You can also see the horses that the software has analysed as selections. Back selections will be highlighted in blue and lay selections will be highlighted in pink. Next to each horses name is a number in brackets. This is the average speed rating that the horse has achieved over similar conditions to the race they are about to compete in. This is a very powerful rating, and the higher the better. The horses are listed from highest rated down. Page 16

The first thing to take note of it s the Competitiveness of the race. Betting Speed Evolution intelligently assesses a race and tells you how competitive it is likely to be based on all the horses in the race. This is displayed on the top left hand side. This is a traffic light indicator, the colours are Ø Red = Very Competitive Ø Amber = Competitive Ø Green = Uncompetitive However you don t have to remember this! All you need to do is hover your mouse over the traffic light and you will get the competitiveness details, as shown below. Page 17

Ideally you want to focus on races that are Uncompetitive and stay away from Very Competitive races. You can analyse all races using this tool very successfully but you should focus on the less competitive ones until you have more experience. I also suggest that you do not analyse Maiden races when you first start, as the amount of data we have for these runners is limited. If you want to look at these races I will show you the best way to tackle them in the advanced manual. To find our selections we need to use the graph. Before we start, it is important that you understand how to read it. Please go through the guide below carefully and make sure everything is clear. You will see a graph showing the speed ratings for each of the strongest horses over the last year, in races that were similar to the condition of the race the runners are about to enter. The graph is read from left to right, with the most recent race being on the right hand side. Each dot on the graph is a speed rating, and the month the speed rating was achieved in is along the bottom of the graph, with the speed rating value along the side of the graph. All the runners displayed have the potential to run a good race, but we want to see if we can narrow down to one or two selections. To do this we focus on two things Ø Runners with the highest average speed ratings Ø Runners which show the strongest steady improvement Page 18

When looking at the highest average speed ratings, you are looking for a significant difference between runners, ideally 10 points or more. The better the average figure, then the more favoured the horse. Lastly, we want to see which of the runners has the steadiest improvement. To do this, hover over each horses name on the right- hand side of the graph. When you do this, a line will connect all the speed ratings for the horse. If a horse only has one speed figure then the speed rating point for the horse will enlarge when you hover over its name. The horse that shows the smoothest upwards slope from left to right is favoured. Any horse that has a single point, we take this as a good upwards slope finishing at that point. Page 19

Look at all the strong runners to see if there are one or two runners which have Ø Significantly better average speed figures (10 points or more) Ø Smooth upwards sloping line from left to right Then these runners become your selections. If all runners are similar, then all the runners become selections. To make it quick to find selections, you can add the horses you have decided to bet on to the Selections tab. You do this by holding down the shift key and clicking on the horses name. Once you have added them to the selection tab then go there by clicking on the star on the bottom right- hand side. Page 20

Once there you will find that the Bet Type for the selections are initially set to None. Click the arrow on the selection box and you will get a drop- down menu that you can choose the Bet Type you want for that selection. Now go back to the Races tab and go to the next race. Please note that we only show the horses that are the strongest in the race and this means that sometimes there are races with just 1 runner, or no runners. It is not advisable to analyse any race with less than 3 runners shown (unless you are using the automated selections). Page 21

Using The Selections Tab To add a selection to the selections tab, simply hold down the shift key on your keyboard and click the horses name. When you do this the horses name will turn into italics as you can see in the image below. Once they are in italics they will be on your selections list. To remove them from the selections list then hold down the shift key on your keyboard and click on the horses name again and it will remove them from the selections list. The horses name will also go back to not being in italics. To view your selections there are two ways. You can either view them from the Selections tab. Page 22

Alternatively you can access them straight from a race by clicking on the Star in the bottom right hand corner. Once you are in the selections tab you will get a list of every horse you have added to it. This makes it very easy to see what horses you have selected for the day and to place all your bets at once. Page 23

Horses that the software selects for you will already have the Bet Type chosen automatically for them. You can also delete a selection from here by selecting the horse and pressing the Delete Selected button. Exporting Selections Betting Speed Evolution will allow you to export your selections as a PDF, Excel file or Bin file. This allows you to take the PDF as a print- out to the track or on your portable device. You can use the Excel file if you like to record your selections in a spreadsheet or want to import them into betting software. And, you can use the Bin file to import the selections back into the software. To export the selections for the day simple press the Export button and choose where you would like to save the file. The file will be saved as a zip, please double click on it to extract it and get access to the individual files. Page 24

You can change the files that are exported on the Settings tab. Importing Selections If you close the software then your selection list will not be saved. However if you export the selections before your close the software then you can import them when you next open it. Go to the Selections tab and press the Import button. Page 25

This will bring up a dialog box, which allows you to select a file. Browse to the selections you exported and choose the selections.bin file and press Open. This will import the selections back into the software. Page 26

BSE Version 1.20 New Features Version 1.20 of the Betting Speed Evolution software contains a number of new features. When you open a graph your screen will now look like the image below. The header information now contains the class of the race that is being run. Above the list of runners in the race you will now find three tabs. These tabs mean This icon indicates the runners in the race that we have data for and are displayed on the graph. This icon indicates runners in the race that we do not have data for. This could be because the runners are maiden horses and have not yet run a race, or sometimes we cannot create speed figures for a race because we do not have enough information about the race. You should always check this tab to see if there are any horses we do not have data for. The quickest way to incorporate these runners into your analysis is to use the odds market to determine their ability to contend. Page 27

This icon indicates non- runners in the race. BSE now has the facility for your to select horses as non- runners. To mark a horse as a non- runner you hold down Crtl+Shift (Cmd+Shift on a Mac) and then click on the horses name from the list of horses. The horse will be moved to this tab to indicate it is now a non- runner. Once a horse has been removed as a non- runner it will no longer be displayed in any filters or affect the traffic light competitiveness indicator. If you mark a non- runner by mistake then you can move it back to the main list of runners by going to the non- runners tab and double clicking on the horses name. You can now also find ratings from the past races when you click on the date box. Historical dates are now available to be chosen. Please note that there is a delay in moving data from the daily database to the historical database. This change happens at midnight and the previous days data may not be available until 9am the following morning. Following a number of requests you can now change the going at a course on the day. This is changed as shown in the screenshot on the following page. Page 28

When you change the going for a course in one race, it will automatically adjust the going for all other races. This will also turn the header information on the graphs red so you know that the going has been adjusted. Please note that changing the going will affect the auto- selections as going is a criteria in their selection. The more accurate you can make this going then the better the selections will be. Page 29
