This week we have seen our year three and five s attempt NAPLAN testing online. We don t get formal results back from the testing but it has been a great way for the school to best prepare our students for next year. We also had a class sharing assembly where all classes shared the wonderful learning that they have been doing, I was very impressed with our Pre-Primaries bucket of happiness, and was filled with warmth when looking at the bucket that they proudly showed me. Tomorrow we will be having Book Week celebrations. Thanks so much to Ms DeLaurentiis and Ms Kay for putting together what should be a wonderful day. I look forward to catching up with many parents next tomorrow. Our year six students have been visiting Balga SHS for transition and I have received many wonderful reports from the school about their behaviour. Don t forget parents of year six students, that you must have your child enrolled at the high school they will be attending next year as soon as possible. Have a great week! News from Mrs Stevens Value of the Fortnight - Cooperation Daania Siddiqui Cooperation means the ability for people to work together so everyone can benefit. Please have a chat to your child about how they are cooperating at school. I have been watching and have seen some great examples of cooperation in the classroom and in the playground. I can t wait to see how many students receive certificates for their awesome displays of cooperation. Well done!! Sharing Assembly 18 th August 2017 Daania Siddiqui Dream Time story How the Great Barrier Reef got so Big? How did it get into the sea? Long ago, in a land in Australia now called Queensland, the Aboriginal people made a statue. It was really tall. As tall as the depth of the deepest ocean till the very tip. Years passed and the statue stayed there. After 50 years everyone got sick of the statue. Every time they went hunting at night they would bump into the statue. One day the elders were discussing the problem and then one of them got an idea. He said, We can put the statue in the ocean. Everyone loved the idea. It was a heavy job but they managed it and that is how the Great Barrier Reef got so big.
12 Buckets On Wednesdays we have Kisha Lee, who plays basketball with the Stirling Senators, come to train and play with our students. As you can see, its great fun! Our student Blake Cooper has been working with Travis Fitch designing this awesome tee-shirt.
