EDITOR/ WEBMASTER Mike Jones asked if anyone was having trouble with the GDCC emblem appearing too large on e-mails he sends out. Some people are so in the interim he will not include the emblem until he can solve the problem. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR No NCM news. Jerry Schlatter said they had a wonderful trip on the July 29 road tour sponsored by National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). Mike Mills from NCRS led the group which consisted of members from NCRS, GDCC, and Wright-Patterson AFB. The group ended the tour with dinner at the Montgomery Inn Barbecue on the river in Cincinnati.
Jerry also mentioned a road trip to Bowling Green that Mike Mills and a few others did before they shut down the plant due to C7 production. They had a three hour plant tour. Jerry referenced an e-mail Mike sent to him about problems with the C6 fuel pump. When the fuel level drops below ¼ tank the fuel pump inside the tank is no longer submerged by gasoline to keep it cool. Although no duration was specified, prolonged exposure will cause the fuel pump to fail. If your car is still in the 36K/3 year bumper to bumper warranty, Chevrolet will not honor the warranty for fuel pump replacement. Corvette has examples of how these fuel pumps look when they fail from running a car with low fuel levels. PRESIDENT S REPORT: Freddie thanked Sandy and Butch Hanson for hosting the Mystery Dinner Train. The food was very excellent and everyone had a good time. Sandy and Butch also brought a picture and thank you notes from the three children we sponsored to attend summer activities. Freddie sent a thank you note to Shawn of the Dayton Dragons for inviting GDCC to exhibit cars on the stadium s concourse and to attend a game. As part of the club participation raffle, Dean Tavener won a Joey Votto bobble head. Members were asked to take some and distribute. The GDCC banner at the NCM is almost complete. Ten cars from the Club are allowed to participate in the Kettering at Home Parade. So far there are four. If you would like to be part of the parade, there is a sign-up sheet on the table for you to do so. Three more orders for the book entitled Corvette Sixty Years written by Randy Leffingwell are needed for the club to obtain them at a discount price of $32.50 versus $50.00. Let Freddie know if you are interested in ordering a book. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS Carol Tavener will order shirts and jackets for anyone interested. She has samples of some shirts and a jacket and also the catalog. She is going to check the possibility of ordering hats. 50/50 Drawing won by Marsha Woolery: $49.00 Mike Jones motioned that the meeting adjourn; seconded by Jay Robinson. Respectively submitted, Theresa Kopa
