THE LAMBS The Lambs will be holding their next training session at Phillip Oval, this Sunday at 1pm to coincide with the Rams senior games. There will be a photographer there from the Canberra Times and a story on the Lambs will appear in next Tuesdays Canberra Times. So come along Sunday and cheer on both the Lambs and the Rams Seniors. CEO SLEEPOUT A few of you may have seen a familiar face in Tuesday s Canberra Times. The Rams U10 s assistant coach and committee member, Dave McLean was featured as he embarks on a cold night representing ACT Policing in the CEO sleepout. The event is St Vincent de Paul's annual fundraiser for the homeless. Business and community leaders are challenged to try out the experience of sleeping rough, albeit for one night only. They raise funds for Vinnies through sponsorship. Issue No. 08/2011-3 - Date: 15 June 2011

The sleepout is being held this Thursday night, 16 th June and the Rams are supporting Dave and this great cause by donating $500. If you would like to sponsor Dave please visit the website by following the link to: ceosleepout. RAMS OLD BOYS On a cold and rainy Saturday at Erskineville oval, The Rams Old Boys made a successful return to the paddock with a two point victory over the Sutherland Pirates! Following the withdrawal of Stanley Budda Connors with a knee injury and Danny Tails Taylor through illness on the eve of the hit-out, concerns grew pre-game with Adam the Rooster Smith suffering a calf injury forcing a reshuffle of the fast dwindling bench. The toss saw the referee respond to a question on masters tackling rules with: if you want to run the ball hard, then you re going to get hit hard Issue No. 08/2011-4 - Date: 15 June 2011

making the boys consider their options. The Rams got off to a flying start with Captain Coach, Mick Scrumpy Allard putting the ball dead from the kick-off. However, the team-plays the boys worked on at training over the past couple of months soon went out the window with the old boys realising their biggest hurdle was going to be whether they were fit enough to make it through 50 minutes of football! About 10 minutes in, and following some great build up work from the forwards, the mighty Rams opened the scoring with Scrumpy crashing over for a try. Dave the mule Gozzard made a break down the sideline soon after, only to pull up in front of the grandstand with a hammie injury, but still managing to get the offload away before retiring to the bench. This saw Troy Shagga Ticehurst score off the next play. Fantastic line breaks and ball work shown by the halves combination of Flori Cacciotti and Jason Hynes saw the ball get out to the fast men on the flanks in Ward Fleming and Shagga Ticehurst, neither of whom seem to have lost any speed over the years! Some awesome front row busts from Tim Groper McCreath and Tony Teddy Lewis proved the boys still had it. This great front row work saw Tony Lewis score. Luke 100 Rams first grade games Brennan proved why he is a true Rams legend, playing a great game even without his beloved number 13 jersey! Quick interchanges saw Glenn GT Turner, who made the special trip from Tumut, take to the field making an immediate impact, his busts up the middle and numerous offloads earning him the players player trophy for the day. Zig Jamal showed he has not long retired from competitive rugby league, working tirelessly in defence, along with Mick the Maltese warrior Psaila and Durbo whose kicking game has not eluded him since the mighty Statesman days! Issue No. 08/2011-5 - Date: 15 June 2011

Ward Fleming copped a spray from the CC after putting a shoulder charge on the opposition - which is strictly against the masters rules - his response being sorry Scrump, I m a little bit excited. Lambs head coach and Ex Raiders fullback, Darrel McDonald joined the game in his yellow netball bib after suffering a chest injury the previous week in a hit out against rams reserve grade. Dirrel was unbeatable in defence down the left hand flank and under pressure cleaned up a pirates kick on the defensive line. Pat the Doctor Dredge was, as always, awesome in defence with his famous one on one tackles reminiscent of the Rams reggie s glory days of the 90 s! Following some quick strapping from Stu Gorrel, Goz made a courageous 2 nd half comeback soon scoring off the legendary money train play. Goals for the day went to Troy and Flori. Tries to Scrumpy, Goz, Tony and Shagga. The final siren saw the old boys run out 20-18 winners; the referee award the joint man of the match accolades to Flori and Scrumpy; the old boys excitedly contemplating their next hit out; and the wives applauding the fact their significant other could freely walk from the field! A big thanks to the support team of manager and official photographer, Rodney mudge Trevillian; Waterboy, Andrew tubby Tolson and Strapper, Stu Gorrell all of whom had a huge job! Also thanks for the support from the Rams seniors and the players who made the trip to Sydney to watch the old boys run around! Also to the sponsors who helped get the boys on the paddock, looking like a true professional team in their playing attire. The Old Boys next game will be at the last round of the Canberra Raiders Cup on Saturday 13 th August at Phillip Oval against the Valley Dragons masters side. Stay tuned for more details...
