Studio 147 Parent-Student Handbook Studio 147 provides students with a high quality and enthusiastic educational environment. We strive to teach proper dance technique as well as creative choreography. Our goal is to instill a passion for dance in every one of our students. 1

Class Descriptions In all classes, Studio 147 prides itself in not only teaching dance, but important life lessons. We ensure your students will continue learning the respect, discipline, teamwork, and structure that they receive at home while in a stable, fun learning environment. Class Placement is based upon many aspects and under the discretion of the instructor. Twinkles Ballet/Tap/Tumbling Combo: Program for 3-4 year old dancers. This program takes the basics of technique and through the use of props and imagination, gives the children a fun and educational class. Large motor skills are highlighted as well as stimulating the brain s coordination. Tap class teaches rhythms and smaller motor skills. Children must be 3 years old by the start of the session and fully toilet trained. These students will perform in 2 recital routines of the instructor s choice and have 1 convertible costume. Sparkles Ballet/Tap Combo: This program is for Kindgergarten students. This program reviews basics that the student has learned in Twinkles classes and continues teaching large and small motor skills by using the imagination. These students will perform in 1 recital routine of the instructor s choice and have 1 costume. Tumbling: This program teaches the basics of tumbling. We begin with simple, fun movements that build muscle toward more difficult movement. Students will have 1 costume. Hiphop: This class is a fun, funky class to teach students the basics of rhythm and freedom in movement. At a young age, we teach these students stretching, isolations, across-thefloor combinations, basic movements, and simple tricks. Students will have 1 costume. Emeralds Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo: Emeralds classes are for 1st-2nd grades. In all these classes, basic terminology and technique are taught to develop memory, creativity, and stimulate the muscles. Jazz is introduced at this age for a new fun and energetic addition to classes. Students enrolled in this class will perform in 2 recital routines of the instructor s choice and have 1 convertible costume. Rubies: Rubies classes are for 2nd-3rd grades, with some exceptions. Rubies is a beginner level class that enhanses the basics of all classes with the addition of new terminology and techniques. Students will have 1 costume per class. Opals: Opals classes are for early middle school ages. This is an beginner/intermediate level class that combines basics with intermediate terminology and techniques. Students will have 1 costume per class. Pearls: Pearls classes are for middle school ages. This is an advanced level class for students that show an above-average ability for technique, flexibility, and choreogaphy. This is an invitation-only class. Students will have 1 costume per class. Sapphires: Sapphire classes are for middle school-early high school ages. This is an intermediate level class. Students will have 1 costume per class. Diamonds: Diamonds are the most advanced class. These students must show an aboveaverage ability for technique, flexibility, and choreography. Students will have 1 costume per class. Diamonds Tumbling: This is an invitation-only class for advanced tumblers. Students must have a minimum of a back handspring for this class. Cheer: Studio 147 s cheer teams are NEW this year!
