IDEAS Try these fun activities and decorating celebrate reading with our new theme! Themes give Book Fairs an original, inspired feel each season and they increase student involvement.

Ignite excitement around reading Celebrate and enjoy some over-the-top fun with the Terms 1 and 2 theme Monster Book Fair: Reading is So Much Fun, You ll Get Goosebumps! Create instant Book Fair interest by building pretend doorways at the entrance to your Fair. Make them bold and colourful with reading messages. Add even more intrigue with a KEEP OUT sign. Great idea! READ MONSTER FOOD Serve monster-themed snacks at a family event. Students and volunteers can turn tissue boxes, drink containers and paper rolls into creatures to decorate the Fair. LEAVE AN IMPRESSION Cut out colourful Monster Footprints to lead shoppers to the Fair. Insert head here MONSTER CUT-OUTS Create big-mouthed beasts and paint in bright colours. Turn bulletin boards and doors into silly creatures with faux fur and googly eyes. Place giant eyeballs and footprints in and around your Fair. Use entries from a monster art contest to decorate the rest of your school. Create Book Fair suspense with a monstrous A-frame countdown sign. Give your display tables furry legs and feet. The day before the Book Fair have students cut out and colour in Book Fair On Tomorrow wristbands. This will be a good reminder to families. Fill a jar full of plastic eyeballs using pingpong balls for a Keep Your Eye on the Ball Guessing Game. Monster Hair Day hand hand out tickets to kids sporting wacky hair-dos. They can redeem their tickets for prizes at the Fair. Door Decorating Contest challenge challenge classes to team up to cover their doors with the Fair theme or reading message decor.
