From the President The Ultimate Camo I was wandering around the outdoor range the other day when I bumped into this citizen. I bumped into him by practically stepping on his tail. Well I can t swear that it was his tail because I m not entirely sure where a snake s body ends and his tail begins, but step on him I almost did regardless. This was an especially upsetting experience for me because this particular snake is universally known as a Copperhead. One can tell it is a Copperhead by the shape of its head, the markings on its body, and the malevolent expression on his face. Besides, every snake ever spotted on Belvoir is immediately identified as a Copperhead by all present and anybody else in the general vicinity. Actually, it is probably a good thing that it is a Copperhead. If it were say (to pick an snake specie at random) a Water Snake, It wouldn t have been nearly as exciting. Be careful out there! From the VP Going hungry Having served in some austere locations around the globe, I can tell you from personal experience that there is nothing more gut wrenching than watching a child with hunger in their eyes, the desperation on the faces of their parents, and the emotional flood of relief when food is provided. The HfH shoot is a great event every year, as an archery community, we work hard to make this one a bit more special for the families that will benefit from your generosity again this year. With the monies raised, Gary and the HfH team will have capital to help those families in need make it through another day, another week, another month. You are a part of that relief, and the tears that come from a family with knowing they will go to bed feeling at least a bit better. Thank you, I am proud and humbled to be a part of this generous community of caring. With the annual Hunters for the Hungry Shoot coming in August, we will be calling on you, the members, to help make the event a great one, and raise money to get meals to those that need them. It s time to break the stands out, check straps, order parts and get ready for the early scouting in August, season opener in September will be here before you know it. Volunteers make it happen, and the club shoots are no exception. Thank you to the crew that typically are on the course the night before putting out targets, and stay late to get them put away for the next shoot. Good Hunting, Greg NORVA HUNTERS FOR THE HUNGRY Don t forget to drop of your H4tH donations off with Tracy Grevert. Range Warden Report Big thanks to Steve Richards, Joe Kolling, Larry Readel, Ira Joseph, Dave White and David Constantine for helping with the target placement at our last outdoor 3-D Tournament. We Treasurer s Report received a lot of good feedback on how well the range was setup and relocation of targets assisted in increasing the challenge. Our next focus will be the Hunters for the Hungry shoot conducted at NORVA on August 26, 2017 and we will need volunteers to assist with target placement for this event. The date and time for target movement and setup is being coordinated with the NORVA executive board and will be announced as soon as possible. As we begin to close out our 2017 tournament season, I want to say thanks to all who have assisted with Range Setup and maintenance throughout the year. It is only with your support that we are able to have successful events and your dedication is greatly appreciated. As we move forward into 2018, I ask for your continued support as we prepare to make range improvements and rotate targets. Once the annual calendar is finalized and published, range work days will be coordinated so as not to interfere with scheduled events. Thanks again to all for making Archery such a great sport.
