Invite from The Entrance Points Table Senior Presentatio n Night Sponsors Feature - Central Coast Motor Group, Daracon, Chemist Outlet LAST WEEK AT AVOCA Last weekend the Trojans and Avoca, in front of a large crowd on both sides of the field, produced some of the best rugby played on the Coast all year. The Trojans were able to win all grades against the Avoca Club. No easy feat at Avoca! The matches were played in great spirit both on and off the field and it is a credit to both clubs that they can have one of the best rivalries in Central Coast sport and then go on to enjoy Avoca s hospitality well into the night at the Avoca Clubhouse. Both clubs had large attendance at the Clubhouse, Avoca always put on a great rugby day and this was no different. One of the highlights was the presentation to Emile Thomas who achieved 200 First Grade games for the Avoca Club. The Trojans day started well with our Colts producing the kind of rugby we know they are capable of to win with a bonus point victory. Both sides lifted for the day producing a very high standard match. Our Third Grade needed a victory at Avoca to stay in contact with the upcoming Semis. Our Trojans were able to produce a team effort that showed they are capable of going a lot further in this competition. The match of the day was probably the Second Grade with two of the best teams in the competition going head to head for an entire 80 minutes. The lead changed four or five times and came down to the last seconds with Avoca on our 10 metre line ready to snatch victory. The Trojans showed the grit that is needed to go on in this year s competition holding Avoca out for a last minute victory 21-17. Both sides gave their all in a very memorable match. The First Grade game was like a Grand Final with Avoca needing a win to push their way into the Semis. This was one of the hardest and most physical games the Trojans have played all year. Everything you expect when we play Avoca. The Trojans ran out victors 33-12 producing one of their best defensive efforts in being able to hold out such a determined
Avoca side and then put on points when chances presented. Taka had his best match scoring 3 tries on the day followed by Dan Sargeant who also scored 2 tries. This was an exceptionally strong team effort where many Trojan players stood out and made our club exceptionally proud. Well done to all the Trojans and Avoca! The spirit of rugby doesn t get better than this.
BOAT RACE After the match a large crowd was in attendance at the Clubhouse for the Boat Race. Avoca decided on a four man boat racing format. We brought out our A Grade team in Tim Date, Freemo, Sam and Ethan. Avoca had a surprise female member of the crew which was great rugby. The Avoca team got off to a strong start and had a clear win on the night to great applause from the Clubhouse. TROJAN HARRY Our young Trojan champion, Harry Naven, who was struck down in a rugby accident a few weeks ago is on the mend. Harry has had a few setbacks and has been in Westmead Hospital receiving treatment. Harry is feeling much better in himself and, all being well, is coming home next week.
The Trojans have been coming together as a Club to support Harry who will be in a wheelchair for up to 18 months whilst continuing treatment. Harry s teammates have visited him at Westmead along with Waratah half back Nick Phipps who spent an hour with Harry during the week. Our Trojan families have been working to keep normality as much as possible to Harry s family organising meal trains, cleaners, school drop off and pick ups and all things possible for Steve and Libby. This is what being a Trojan family is all about. Harry's mind has already shifted to playing wheelchair basketball during his injury time. This is one good kid! If you would like to contribute in any way please contact Mandy Kennedy on 0438 851 818. BLEDISLOE FOR TROJANS The Trojans are planning a big run into the Grand Final with a number of international rugby matches planned with our players and supporters. The Bledisloe will be on in the Clubhouse after the Woy Woy match. Stay at the Clubhouse for a fantastic Trojan night.
