February 2018 PTA Newsletter Clearbrook Chronicle Welcome to a new year! What a wild January! Like many of you, I am glad to be back into a routine and look forward to putting together some full weeks of school. The PTA has been working hard on our upcoming events, and February will be an amazing month to showcase the school in several ways. Please take a moment to look over the newsletter and familiarize yourself with all that is going on. By all accounts, the PTA has had an extremely successful year, both financially and socially. I applaud the parents and staff for supporting the numerous events, and it s an honor to help lead the charge. Brooke Carnevali, 2017/2018 PTA President Dear Clearbrook Families, Principal s Pen I hope you enjoyed the snow days with your family in January. For your information, the make-up days will be March 23 and March 30. These will both be full school days. In addition, a quick reminder for the 2018-19 school year, the first day of school will be on Monday, August 13, 2018. This is several days earlier than past years. I hope this information will assist you in planning for any summer vacations. We are continuing with minor improvements to our building. The interior painting is almost complete and the entire school looks refreshed and renewed. In addition, a new PA system will be installed in the next few weeks. The system will provide added features to enhance its safety and usability. We are very proud of our school! Keeping it in top shape is essential in promoting a good learning environment for our students. Upcoming Events February 5 th : Schools closed Parent/Teacher Conferences February 6 th, 6:45-8: Social Media Safety Night Clearbrook Library February 8 th, 5-8pm: Spirit Night at Chick-fi-lay February 13 th 6:00-7:30: For the love of Reading Hosted by the 2 nd grade and the PTA February 14 th : Valentine s Day Class Parties 1-2pm February 16 th : Mobile Dentist at Clearbrook February 21 st : Student Club Day March 5 th : Spirit Night at Panera In closing, I would like to take a moment to highlight the tremendous amount of parental support we have had this year. This high level of parental involvement has supported us in our educational goals and enabled us to provide new social activities for our families. A strong, cohesive school community is the foundation of a successful school. You have my utmost gratitude and appreciation. Beth Grim Principal Page 1 of 7

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART/FEBRUARY IS AMERICAN HEART MONTH This year's Jump Rope for Heart event will be held during your child's PE class from February 26th - March 2nd. Envelopes will be coming home in the Wednesday folder on January 31st. Donations are due on March 2nd. We hope to reach our school goal! Last year we collected almost $12,000. It is so easy to sign up online. This cause is very close and personal to me. I lost my daughter, Brittney, age 25 to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in 2013. My father passed away in 2015 at age 90. He had numerous heart problems - Triple bypass surgery, internal defibrillator, 2 pig valve replacements, and Congestive Heart Failure. Thank you for your support! Nancy Tucker/Physical Education Father/Daughter Dance Success! A magical night was had by all that attended the first ever Clearbrook Father/Daughter Dance. It was incredibly special to see all the young ladies dressed up and attending with their special role model. A special thanks to the Seitz family for leading the effort. The PTA would also like to thank Marie Oracko, Holly Shields, Ms. Grim, Mrs. Tiffany, Mrs. Majors, Mrs. Campbell, Miss Citron, Mrs. Harrison, Mr. Parker, Mr. Dwight, Mrs. Emerson, Mrs. Schlosser, Mrs. Mya, and Mrs. Hilbish for their help with the event. A very LARGE Clearbrook round of applause to Mr. Ruben Terry for volunteering to be our photographer! The spring book fair is right around the corner! Be looking for more information on specific dates, but will most likely be held March 12 th -15 th, barring anymore snow days. Please contact Mrs. Howell if you have any questions. Page 2 of 7
