Warwickshire Police Rugby Rural Central Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) rrc.snt@warwickshire.pnn.police.uk June 2016 Long Lawford Church Lawford - Wolston Binley Woods Brandon Bretford Ryton on Dunsmore Kings Newnham Little Lawford Crime Overview This section looks at the crimes of public interest that have occurred on the Rugby Rural Central Safer Neighbourhood Team policing area. Below is a brief summary of some of the incidents that have been reported to us in the month of May: Anti Social Behaviour There have been 10 separate reports of ASB in the Rugby Rural Central area. Incident 20160506-0258 Main Street, Wolston Report that a group of youths were being a nuisance and got abusive when asked to move on by informant. Incident 20160507-0411 Woodlands Road, Binley Woods Report that a group of youths were by the informants dwelling making noise. Incident 20160515-0246 and 20160515-0247 Wolston Report that two males had been seen on mini-motorbikes riding around the village Incident 20160517-0240 School Street, Wolston Report that three males are in the alleyway smoking drugs. Incident 20160517-0305 Abbotts Walk, Wolston Report that a group of teenagers where standing in an alleyway smoking drugs. Incident 201605018-0313 Gossett Lane, Brandon Report that motorbikes were racing up and down the track. Incident 20160522 0034 Bailey Lane, Long Lawford Report of three males in drink being rowdy in the street. Officers attended. Incident 20160522-0380 - Abbotts Walk, Wolston Report that a group of teenagers where standing in an alleyway smoking drugs. Incident 20160523 0407 Woodleigh Road, Long Lawford Report of youths playing football in the street. Burglaries (Dwelling) There have been 4 separate reports of Burglary Dwellings: Incident 20160502-0063 Chapel Street, Long Lawford Report that the informant had awoken to noise and found property had been broken into and items stolen. Incident 20160503-0096 Heather Road, Binley Woods Report that sometime between Thursday 28 th April and Tuesday 3 rd May 2016, unknown persons have entered the informant s property and stolen car keys.

Incident 20160503-0277 Wolston Lane, Wolston Report that sometime between 1:30pm and 5:30pm unknown offenders have entered a property and stolen a safe. Incident 20160520-0311 Norman Ashman Coppice, Binley Woods Report that offenders have smashed back patio doors and stolen items. Burglaries (Non Dwelling) There have been 3 separate reports of Burglary: Incident 20160503-0086 Burglary Other Leamington Road, Ryton on Dunsmore Report that sometime overnight unknown offenders have broken into storage units. Nothing taken Incident 20160504-0155 Burglary Other Main Street, Wolston Report that a van had been stolen with keys. Incident 20160517-0058 Burglary Other - Leamington Road, Ryton on Dunsmore Report that sometime overnight unknown offenders have tried to break into a secure unit. Criminal Damage There has been 2 reports of Criminal Damage: Incident 20160513-0194 Dyers Lane, Wolston Report that unknown offenders have damaged play equipment. Incident 20160513-0196 Manor View, Wolston Report that unknown offenders have damaged play equipment removing bolts to make the equipment unsafe. Theft There have been 2 reported thefts. Incident 20160505-0227 Rugby Road, Binley Woods Report that a male had entered the store and stolen beer. Male made of in a Green Ford Focus. Vehicle VRM obtained from local ANPR system. Incident 20160524-0181 Rugby Road, Binley Woods Report that a male had entered the store and stolen beer. Male made of in a Green Ford Focus linked to previous report. Vehicle Crime There have been 3 separate reports of vehicle crime. Incident 20160504-0160 & 20160504-0269 Leamington Road, Ryton on Dunsmore Two vehicles have been broken into and items stolen. Offenders have forced entry to vehicles by smashing windows Incident 20161010-0138 Bluemels Drive, Wolston Lock broken on car door. No entry gained. Incident 20160523-0343 Prentice Close, Long Lawford Report that sometime between 6:30am hours and 12pm unknown offenders have broken a wing mirror to an unattended vehicle.

To vote for your next community priority please follow this link:- www.warwickshire.police.uk/article/3275/team-priorities PCSO Ken Wyer Joins the Rugby Rural Central Team The team would like to welcome back Police Community Support Officer Ken Wyer to the Rural Central team. Ken will be responsible for Lawfords. PCSO Wyer has been with Warwickshire Police for over 10 years and returning back to SNT from working with the Youth Engagement Team based in Nuneaton. PCSO Wyer is looking forward to working with the community. Immobilise the Free Property Marking Service Just think of all those numbers stored, documents saved and memories held. You d want to get them back fast and if they were stolen, you d want the thief caught. Register your belongings with IMMOBILISE, the free national property database, and you can be re-united with them fast if they are ever lost or stolen. Thieves can be more easily identified if they steal registered goods. Any item can be registered with IMMOBILISE simply by registering and adding your products. Roadside Scams The police have been contacted regarding a group targeting the area. The group have been seen stopping and approaching motorists asking for money for fuel. The team have been contacted and details of vehicles and descriptions of the offenders have been passed. The team will be doing targeted patrols to catch the scammers in the act. If you see something suspicious please contact us on 101. Priorities The current priorities for Rugby Rural Central Safer Neighbourhood Team are as follows: To carry out high visibility patrols in Wolston village, with a view to detecting and deterring offences of Anti social behaviour. Although these are currently the main SNT priorities, we will continue to monitor any issues that have been raised previously.

News Stories Property Marking Event in Binley Woods On the 5 th May 2016 PCSO Matt Havelock, Charlie Cawte and Rural Crime Co-ordinator Carol Cotterill attended Binley Woods with the New Community Contact Van and offered crime prevention advice to residents as well as offering to mark property. The team where able to mark bikes and even a mobility scooter. The team also had the Immobilise equipment with them and signed some people up to the free property registering system. The team were able to speak with the local community and listen to any concerns that they may have in there area. The team also signed up members the village alert system. Child Sexual Exploitation awareness training PCSO Cawte and PCSO Havelock have attended Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) training on 12 th May 2016. The training was with other authorities and highlighted the signs of recognising CSE happening to under 18 s. They looked at how offenders manipulate under 18 s into sexual activity and sometimes in the exchange of money, gifts accommodation, affection or status. Property Marking with Ryton Pools On Monday 16 th May, PCSO Matt Havelock arranged with the staff at Ryton Pools to property mark their tools after they had been a victim of crime. The team have been given overt marking kits from the Rural Crime budget supplied from the PCC to further support victims of crime. ANPR catches three males for a local theft On Tuesday 3 rd May the ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) camera in Binley Woods detected Warwickshire Police to a vehicle used by criminals. Officers where able to intercept the vehicle further in the village. The officers found that the rear of the car was filled with tools. Officers found that this had come from a local property in Wolston. All males are currently on police bail. Binley Woods supported villages To help the Binley Woods supported village, PCSO Cawte and PCSO Havelock attended the Binley Woods Allotments to property mark their gardening equipment. The PCSO s used a product called Cremark, which was provided for them from Warwickshire Rural Watch.

Property marking for Coventry City Football Club PCSO Havelock and PCSO Cawte visited the Coventry City Training ground in Ryton on Dunsmore after they had been a victim of crime. The team offered crime prevention advice and showed them crime prevention products available. The team finished the visit with overtly marking their tools. Cars seized for no insurance On Saturday 7 th May 2016 a car activated the local ANPR camera for having no insurance. Officers stopped the vehicle and seized under section 165 of the road traffic act. Also on Thursday 12 th May 2016 another vehicle activated the ANPR camera for a car with no insurance. The car was stopped in Brandon and also seized. Lunchtime visit from PCSO Havelock PCSO Matt Havelock visited the Provost Williams School in Ryton on Dunsmore on Tuesday 24 th May. PCSO Matt Havelock had the SNT s new van with him and lunchtime was about to start. The school asked if he wanted to show the van to the children. They put the van in the school playground and PCSO Havelock was able to let the children look around the van and gave the children the chance to ask PCSO Havelock questions about the police. Meetings and Events Below is a list of the upcoming meetings and events involving Rugby Rural Central SNT: Friday 10 th June 2016 PCSO Matt Havelock and PCSO Cawte will be supporting Provost Williams Primary School with Crowning of the May King & Queen followed by the Summer Gala. Sunday 26 th June 2016 PCSO Cawte will be patrolling the Open Gardens Event in Binley woods.
