Our next bronze course starts next week. Nippers are 2 weeks in and are going well. We have a lot of new green caps which means we have new parents. BOARD TRAINING FOR BEGINNERS & INTERMEDIATES Training at the Club each Saturday 7:30am until 9am. All Bronze or SRC award holders are welcome to join this training session. Bring Patrol Caps and Pink Rashie if you have one. This program is to build your confidence on the board and offer further engagement in club activities. In the future we will need assistance with this program as the facilitator is often away from home. Coach training and certification opportunities are available. If you are willing to help out and receive expert guidance please contact the office or Jono on 0404 538 814. A WORD FROM THE CLUB CAPTAIN Welcome to the new season! Firstly, a big congratulations and welcome to our new Bronzies & SRC s, we look forward to welcoming you into the patrol teams. Thanks again to our trainers & water safety for your efforts in bringing them through. A quick refresh on some protocols now that we ve made it through our first cycle of patrols, without any major incidents or gear failures. The biggest issue we ve had to deal with has been late withdrawals from patrols, leaving us chasing awards on the day of patrols. I understand that we all have family & other commitments that mean we can t always make our rostered patrols, but please notify your patrol captain as soon as you know - even before you try to get a swap. The more notice we have, the easier it is to make arrangements to cover the contracted awards. This can be done even more simply now from within the Team app. Once you have subscribed to your patrol teams roster, it will automatically add the rostered days & times into your mobile calendar, and you are able to RSVP from the app directly. As always, if you have any issues or concerns, please let me know & we ll do our best to work through it with you. See you on the beach, Cheers, Clarkey. NIPPERS UPDATE Reese Collie We had 32 Kawana youth members gain their SRC (16 in total) or Bronze medallion (16 in total) during the first week of the September school holidays. A big thanks to all those who helped out with our course, especially Jason & Amanda who again coordinated the week. A whole new bunch of eager patrolling members are now ready to go for the summer. The first day of nippers has now been and gone, with great conditions. This ensured plenty of smiling faces coming out of the water on their boards or swimming. Let s hope we get plenty more days like this!! Nipper numbers have now passed 200, which is great to see with many new families and young nippers joining the group. A big welcome to our new families and enthusiastic new green caps. Four of our nippers attended the Sunshine Coast Branch selection trials last weekend, including Jayden Boreham, Summer Rolsten, Alana Munroe and myself. Another selection carnival is on in a couple of week s at the same time as the Rainbow Beach carnival, so fingers crossed we do well and make the team. Reese Collie
