Race 1 allansford hotel 3yo maiden plate - 1300 metres: CARNOUSTIE Was restrained in the early stages in an attempt to find cover. CRY WOLF Was in the adjoining barrier to Tell The Truth and inspected by the vet as a precaution prior to running and deemed fit to race. Held up for a short distance prior to straightening. GO FOR IT Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. JUDELLY Slow to begin, then crowded shortly after between Cry Wolf and Ronaldos Cross which shifted in. RONALDOS CROSS Over raced in the early stages and refused to settle. TELL THE TRUTH After being loaded in the barriers was fractious and became cast. Stewards subsequently ordered the late scratching of the gelding at 4.17pm acting on veterinary advice. Trainer A Noblet was advised the gelding would be required to successfully trial again before being accepted to race. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. CATCH US Rider D Bates reported his saddle slipped sideways shortly after the start placing him at a disadvantage. Prior to Correct Weight an announcement was made in regard to betting deductions. EVES A STAR After being loaded in the barriers became fractious. Was inspected by the vet and deemed fit to run. Restrained from the start. FLAMING ONE Settled mid field (beaten $1.50 fav). Tactics and performance queried. Rider S Vella reported the filly began well and was able to settle in a midfield positon as intended. S Vella explained the filly can over race, as it did in todays event and highlighted his mount trailed the eventual race winner into the race that was able to draw clear in the straight. To be ridden more forward. After being ridden along in the early stages, settled in a rearward position. FULMINEUS Slow to begin. MARKETPLACER Performance queried. Rider J Childs reported the gelding was somewhat hampered when caught on the rail behind the leader that was giving ground. J Childs added from the time he as able to place his mount under pressure, the eventual winner had gained an advantage. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. NOM DE FILLE Rounding the first turn near the 1800m was tightened for room between Zabextra which shifted in and Jumpin Jack Flash. Passing the 1000m was awkwardly placed on the heels of Jumpin Jack Flash when the pace slackened. PRIME APPEAL Change of tactics. To be ridden more forward with cover. Settled midfield. ZABEXTRA Raced three wide without cover throughout. AGGIE Raced keenly in the lead and refused to settle. Rider M Julius reported it had not been her intention to lead however the filly began well in a race that lacked speed. Trainer P Chow indicated the filly would now be put out for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Rider M Julius was spoken to advisedly in relation to slowing the tempo at the 1000m to such a degree whereby resulting in a number of runners being hampered as a consequence. BLOODLETTE Approaching the 1000m when the tempo slackened, was awkwardly placed on the heels of Affronted before shifting out and improving its position around the field to obtain the lead. RATA TAT TAT Settled behind the leader. Under pressure from the 600m. Eased down in the straight. (Unplaced $1.75 fav). A post race veterinary examination revealed an irregular heart rhythm. Rata Tat Tat shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres. Post race swab samples were collected MAGELLEN Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. MEXICAN MARACAS Began awkwardly and shortly after was buffeted between Magellen and Our Miracle. WRITE DA SCRIPT Shifted in at the start and bumped Our Miracle. Race 5 genr8 grand handicap mile march 18 win & youre in - 1300 metres: LA FLEURETTE Was crowded at the start by Lycurgus which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Was held up rounding the home turn and the early part of the straight. LORD SHERWOOD Was inclined to over race with its head up in the early stages. ENSUING Over raced in the early stages. Performance queried. Rider J Noonan reported the mare over raced in the early and middle stages and failed to finish off as expected. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. WEEKEND Stewards ordered the late scratching of Weekend at 5.25pm acting on veterinary advice after the mare became fractious in the float and sustained lacerations to both rear legs en-route to the course. STELLA EFFORT Led before surrendering the lead near the 800m. Tactics queried. Rider L Riordan stated it was not his intention to lead and he elected to surrender when challenged by Norther Edge as he felt that gelding may have been over racing. Stewards were of the opinion L Riordan should have maintained the lead given the filly began well and the tempo was only moderate through the early stages. NORTHERN EDGE After being caught wide was allowed to stride forward and assume the lead. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore. Cotrainers D and R Beriman were advised a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness will be required before Northern Edge is next presented to race. Race 6 fresha fuit juices grand handicap sprint heat 4-1100 metres: TYRANNIZE Raced three wide through the early stages before settling outside the leader. Performance queried. Rider D Moor could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
ARTIES PARTY Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until passing the 200m. Was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages and passing the 50m had to be straightened by its rider. CRYSTAL PISTOL Was held up and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 100m. AURELIUS HERO Slow to begin. Held up for the entirety of the home straight and went to the finish without being tested. ZEUSMAN Raced wide without cover. ELZETTE Began awkwardly. Was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and in the straight. MAGNA CARTA Raced wide without cover throughout. UNIQUE STORM Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. Race 7 bowman financial services bm70 handicap - 3065 metres: ILLAVAALF Passing the 2300m was awkward on the heels of Siddles Birthday which was inclined to race ungenerously at that point and as a consequence Illavaalf was hampered, being carried back through the field. Rider L Riordan reported he was instructed to ride the gelding where comfortable. PRIZE Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Performance queried. Rider D Yendall reported the gelding was under pressure from the 1000m and disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. SIDDLES BIRTHDAY Made the home turn awkwardly on the first occasion. WESTERN HEIR Near the 2900m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Coppla that met with interference. Eased down in the straight. Rider J Hill could offer no explanation. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. CHOYSA Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. COPPOLA Checked first turn near the 2900m. Was inclined to over race in the early and middle stages. MIGHTY MAHER Caught wide in the early stages. Was slow into stride bit allowed to stride forward and assume the lead. PLATYPUS DUCK Stood flat footed and missed the start (3L). BON DALLER Connections advised the gelding pulled a bar plate and as a consequence was presented in standard plates. Over raced in the middle stages.
Rider M Julius (Siddles Birthday) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 137(a). The careless riding being that approaching the first turn near the 2900m, M Julius carelessly permitted Siddles Birthday to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Coppola that was checked. The licence of M Julius to ride in races was suspended for a total of 7 meetings (4 provincial, 3 metro) commencing midnight 23 February 2017 and concluding midnight 1 March 2017. In assessing penalty Stewards deemed the incident to be in the low range and took into account her guilty plea, good record and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
