Congratulations! Congratulations and thank you for purchasing our Scott Burke Stand-Up Paddle Board! This manual will introduce you to your new board and provide you with set up/installation instructions for all of the parts and accessories that came with it. We ve even included a quick How To advice guide that will help you get out on the water in no time! But first, we d like to offer you a little bit of history about us and Stand Up Paddle Boarding in general. About Us! Scott Burke Boards is a division of Keeper Sports Products, LLC, located in Southern California. Keeper Sports Products is comprised of a team that has been involved in the designing, shaping, and manufacturing of high-end bodyboards and soft-top surfboards for some of the biggest brands on the planet for over 25 years. We strive to continuously enhance our products in innovative new ways to keep you having fun and ahead of the trend whether it be by adding bright and fun new graphic to our boards or installing a mounting platform for your camera so you can re-live your ride by watching it on video at the end of the day! At Keeper Sports Products, we pride ourselves on the quality and workmanship that goes into each and every board we make, and we are confident that you will be very happy with your new purchase. A Bit of History Stand Up Paddle Boarding is rooted at least as far back as the 1960s in Hawaii. The first paddleboarders were actually the longboard surfers who discovered that by using a paddle, they could not only catch waves more easily, but also carve or turn with more precision. The extra help of the paddle to propel the board forward with more force allowed the surfers to use their longboards when the waves were small or event nonexistent. With this discovery, the sport of Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) Boarding was born even if it wasn t widely recognized as that right away. Surfing is an individual and somewhat romantic sport that people all over the world dream of trying or mastering all their lives. The beauty of SUP Boarding is that you don't need an ocean to do it! Any good sized body of water will do- a lake, a pond, or even a river! The recent reemergence and popularity of Stand Up Paddle Boarding in today s culture as its own sport has brought that faint dream of standing on a surfboard to a reality for people of all ages all over the world. Who says you need to live by the ocean to experience the excitement of gliding across the water on a surfboard? Keeper Sports Products aims to create a quality product at an affordable price so that we can also lessen the financial obstacle that may have previously hindered your surfboard dreams! We believe that everyone should get the chance to experience the peaceful relaxation of becoming one with your board and the water - and HEY it doesn t hurt that balancing and paddling are working your core muscles to keep you fit and healthy all the while!

CARE AND MAINTENANCE We know you re stoked to hop on your new board and get paddling, but please take a few minutes to read these instructions to ensure your board will last you for a long time! You ll be glad you did! Minor abrasions, dents, wearing off of the graphic, and scratches are normal and will not affect the performance of your board. These effects are not covered under warranty. Do not drag your board or paddle on the ground/sand. Always CARRY them to the body of water you will paddle in we ve included a built in carrying handle in the center of the board to help you out with this! If your board gets punctured or torn, remove it from the water as soon as possible and do not take it back in the water until you have repaired the hole/ding back to a water sealed state. Otherwise, your board could get waterlogged and this damage is NOT fixable. Do not let your board sit in extreme heat for long periods of time as it may cause issues in the lamination on the deck. Over time, the color (graphic) may fade if left in the sun for prolonged periods of time. This is normal. When not in use, we recommend that you store you board away from direct sunlight to minimize this effect. It is recommended that you rinse the board with fresh water and towel dry, or allow the board the board to completely air dry, after each use before putting it away. Stand your board up to dry so that any remaining water in the foam will drain out before you put your board away. This rinsing and drying step is ESPECIALLY important to do before storing it away for long periods of time- i.e. for fall and winter. Rinsing with fresh water after each use is also recommended for your paddle. You should pull the paddle apart to thoroughly rinse and remove any sand/particles that may have accumulated inside the tube shaft. Allow your paddle and all its individual parts to thoroughly dry before reattaching them and putting the paddle away. Keep your ankle strap clean from sand, dirt, debris to ensure a proper, snug fit. *Rinse after each use! If your board comes with a traction pad, do not attempt to peel it off of the board. If your board comes with a traction pad and it starts peeling off on its own, we recommend you re-glue with a hot melt glue gun or a similar strong adhesive. REMINDER: Your SUP board was not manufactured for the excessive use and misuse associated with a rental board. Use of this board as a rental will void the warranty of this product.

You will know your side fins are tight enough when the tightened screws are flush with the bottom of the board. Do not drag your board or stand on the board while in sand or shallow water with the fins attached. The board should be carried to the water and placed in water deep enough so that your bottom fins are not touching sand or rocks, otherwise damage may result.

More Features & Advice Your Burke SUP board is extremely versatile and diverse as it is meant for both novice and advanced riders. Our SUP boards come in various lengths, providing plenty of stability for riders all skill levels. CARRYING HANDLE We provide you with a carrying handle, centered horizontally to evenly distribute the weight of our light board as you transport it to and from the water. Your board also comes with a leash to keep you and your board together in the event you fall. This leash is only intended for use around your leg, below your knee, preferably on your ankle. The leash should wrap around your dominant leg/ankle snugly but not too tightly. FINS Depending on the model you purchased, you board will receive either a single or a tri-fin system. Fins are important in that they provide stability and steering maneuverability when out on the water. If your board came with 3 fins (the tri-fin system), you can choose to install just the large center fin or all three at a time, based on water conditions. Three fins are best when using your board to paddle surf when you want to be able to turn and cut through the waves, while a single large fin is typically all you need for cruising around on flat water and straight line racing. SUN SCREENS Most or all brands of sunscreen offer some kind of sun protection and we highly recommend their use whenever you are outdoors in the spring and summer. Despite this, we have detected that a few popular sunscreens may have an adverse effect to the graphics on our boards, causing the inks to bleed or run onto your swimsuit or skin so you should be careful which one you wear while using your board. We strongly recommend that you test your sunscreen on your board in an inconspicuous area to make sure that it will not remove the graphic. The bleeding or smearing of graphics on the board resulting from contact with sunscreen is not covered under our warranty. For a list of sunscreens that we have tested, please visit our website. PADDLE with Your board may also come with a floating, aluminum paddle depending on the package model you purchased. Not all SUP packages include the paddle. If you receive one though, please test the paddle s buoyancy in shallow water prior to every use. If for some reason the paddle does not float, please contact us toll free at 1-855-835-9430 for help or to see if your paddle is still covered under the warranty. Typically, your SUP paddle should measure 8 to 10 inches above the rider s head; there is a mechanism on your paddle to adjust it from 70.5 to 87.25 inches. To do this, simply unlock the clip on the shaft of the paddle, raise or lower the handle to the desired length, and then lock the clip back into place. Remember, the paddle clip is sturdy, but not invincible. Do not force the clip into an open or closed position. Slide the shaft slowly up or down until the clip fits into the preferred hold. We recommend you adjust the length of your paddle BEFORE you head into the water to avoid dropping and losing the clip in the water, as this clip does not float. Another great feature of your paddle is that it is equipped with Blade Shield technology, molded rubber edging around the paddle blade, to protect you and your board from unnecessary scrapes, cuts, and dings. Please see your manual s Care & Maintenance section to learn how to take care of your paddle.

SUP PADDLE ADJUSTMENT CHART DECK/TRACTION PAD Some boards may also come with a deck traction pad. This pad will help you grip your feet to the board more easily to avoid falling off. If your board includes this pad, we recommend that you resist the urge to pick at or pull the edges of the traction to insure its longevity. If a section of the pad separates from the deck of the board, we recommend Gorilla Glue to re-bond your board. Follow the instructions on the package. If your board does not come with traction, we suggest you purchase surf wax for a better grip to your SUP. Keeper Sports Products LLC does not sell wax, but it can easily be purchased from a local surf/sup shop or online. Wax is not mandatory to use your board; it is only recommended. TO START RIDING: Place the board in shallow enough water to float the fin on the stern (back) bottom side of the board. Carefully crawl onto the deck of the board, near the middle and facing forward. While on your knees, place the paddle across the board, directly on the deck in front on your knees, forming a T. When you are balanced and ready, place one foot and then the other on the board (crouch position) and slowly push yourself up into a standing position, lifting the paddle up with you. Your feet should be directly under your shoulders. (cont. next page)

The flatter side of the blade should face you as you paddle. You ll be a little wobbly at first. Don t panic, it s only water! Once you have gained your balance, start paddling!
