Dear Cross Country Ski Racing Nations, We are delighted to invite all nations to the FIS Cross Country Ski Racing Australia New Zealand Continental Cup Races, which will take place at Snow Farm NZ. These events are part of the Audi quattro Winter Games New Zealand, an international biennial winter sports event based in Otago, NZ. The 2015 edition of the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ will take place over an 10 day period from the 21st - 30th August and will feature elite winter sports competitions in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Curling, Freesking and Snowboarding taking place at venues across the Otago region of New Zealand s South Island. The FIS Cross Country Ski Racing Australia New Zealand Continental Cup Races will be hosted at Snow Farm NZ. The nearest township is Wanaka (34km, 35 minute drive). Dates and Venues Dates The Audi quattro Winter Games NZ runs from 21-30 August Host towns & venues The event is based across the 3 towns of Queenstown, Wanaka and Naseby in the South Island of New Zealand. The Curling Tournament will take place in the Maniototo Curling Rink in Naseby, the mountain events at Cardrona Alpine Resort (Freeskiing & Snowboarding), Coronet Peak (Alpine Skiing) and Snow Farm NZ (Cross Country Skiing) and the downtown festival events in the Queenstown and Wanaka Event Villages. Cross Country Ski Racing Venue - Snow Farm NZ, Cardrona Snow Farm NZ is one of the largest cross-country ski areas in the Southern Hemisphere with over 50km of groomed trails for all abilities, set high in the Pisa Range with spectacular views over Mount Aspiring National Park. Downtown Race Office The Wanaka office will be open for registration and general information from 12pm 5pm daily, Monday 1th Thursday 20th August 2015 at the Lake Wanaka Centre, 99 Ardmore Street, Wanaka. From the official games opening day on Fri 21st August the office will based at the Winter Games NZ Wanaka Village (exact venue tbc). Entry Deadline Entry fees Entries close at 15.00 on Monday 24th August 2015. Entries with quota requests MUST be made no later than 15.00 on Tuesday 25th August 2015. The 2015 JUCY Meltdown Concert will be held after the closing ceremony at the Wanaka Games Village next to the Wanaka Hotel on Ardmore Street. Headline act Kora, one of New Zealand s most sonically powerful live bands, will play a blistering set to bring the curtain down for another year. 9
Travel & Logistics Visas Visitors from certain countries must have a visitor visa to enter New Zealand. New Zealand has a special policy for athletes, coaches, administrators, officials and support staff visiting the country to participate in sporting events. Please check on: www.immigration.govt.nz/ migrant/stream/visit/visitors/quickcheck. htm to find out if visitors from your country require a visitor visa to enter New Zealand. Application forms for visitor visas are available on www.immigration. govt.nz or from New Zealand and Australian Consulates, Embassies or High commissions. Liability & Insurance All athletes, officials and members of the National Associations who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. Winter Games NZ, sponsors and suppliers, their agents, employees and volunteers shall not be responsible for any 10 losses or injuries incurred or suffered by the athletes, official or other person in conjunction with the organising or staging of the event. Public Liability Insurance (CHF) 3 million, for the period of the event, is in place. If you are injured in New Zealand (including whilst competing in a competition), you may need the assistance of the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), New Zealand s accident compensation scheme. ACC helps pay for your care and that means paying towards the cost of your treatment and helping your recovery while you remain in New Zealand. ACC will not cover any medical or related costs arising from the accident after you leave New Zealand. You will accordingly still need to arrange your own travel and medical insurance. New Zealand s medical facilities are not free to visitors except as a result of an accident but even in the case of an accident, surcharges in private facilities will apply.
Air travel Car/Van Transport We recommend that you book your flights as early as possible and fly into Queenstown or Christchurch depending on your travel plans. Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Qantas and Virgin Australia are the only airlines flying directly into Queenstown. However many others come into Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
