Welcome to the 2017 season 1

To all new and returning members Welcome to 2017 Thank you for choosing to play football for Wahroonga FC in 2017. Please take some time looking through this introduction to our club. If you have any feedback or ideas that you want to share to make this season more enjoyable and successful, please don t hesitate to contact us. Simply email Anita Stickland on sec@wahroongafc.com.au 2

Welcome to the 2017 season On behalf of the Wahroonga FC Committee, I welcome you to the 2017 football season. Although the first official matches in 2017 will not be played until April, we are opening for registrations in mid-january and in February and March we will have grading, team allocation and some pre-season matches. Our Registration Day is on Sunday 5 February at Karuah Oval in Turramurra, and we welcome you to attend. However most players register online and the following pages provide information about how to do this. We encourage you to register as early as possible as it helps us to organise players and teams. This year we will be providing expert coaching for all of our MiniRoos (U6-U11) teams with T3 providing a coach for 1 hour per week of training for each team for the first 10 weeks of the season. No extra payment (apart from the registration fee) is required. We have an Introductory Offer of $180 for all U6 players, which includes registration fees, training ball and the 10 weeks of training by a T3 coach. Please see Pages 8 & 9 for further details. 3

Welcome to the 2017 season Wahroonga FC is part of the NSFA, which stretches from Brooklyn to North Sydney. We welcome our major club sponsor, La Zana Pizza to their fourth year of involvement with WFC. Best wishes for an enjoyable and successful 2017 football season with Wahroonga FC. Mark Bendall WFC President 2017 4

Wahroonga FC 2017 - fees Age group Student Non- Student U6 Girls & Boys U7 Girls & Boys $180 $230 N/A U8 to U9 Girls & Boys $275 N/A U10 to U11 Girls & Boys $290 N/A U12 Boys (competition) U12 Girls (non-competition) $265 $250 N/A U13 U14 Girls & Boys $270 N/A U15-16 Girls & Boys $280 N/A U18 Girls & Boys $290 N/A All Age Men Div. 4 $400 $415 All Age Men Div. 6 $375 $390 All Age Women Div. 1 $380 $395 All Age Women Div. 2/3 $365 $380 Over 35 Men N/A $410 Please note that WFC provides all U6-U11 teams with 10 weeks of training (1 hour per week) by T3 coaches during the season. One of the main objectives when establishing our fee structure is to keep the cost as low as possible but still ensure we can have the finances to run the club. This year we have been able to keep our senior fees the same or lower than in 2016 because NSFA have not increased the fees they charge clubs for senior teams. Where there have been small increases in fees, that reflects the increase in our costs from NSFA for those age groups or the cost of providing the T3 training. Over 45 Men N/A $410 8

Specialist coaching We are offering 1 hour per week of expert training by T3 for the first 10 weeks of the season for all of our U6-U11 teams (boys and girls) The T3 training will be mainly be at Ku-ring-gai High School, although we may use other grounds, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Generally: U6s and U7s will train at 4 pm U8s and U9s at 5 pm U10s and 11s at 6 pm. Teams will be able to choose which day suits them best for training. Please note that T3 coaches will not be able to attend matches, so teams will require a parent or parents to take coaching responsibilities on match days, and for the remainder of the year once the T3 training finishes. The training is offered in conjunction with T3 Australia who specialise in developing young footballers with an emphasis on skills and technique. 9

We rely 100% on volunteers to run the club. There is an urgent need to increase the number of volunteers and Committee members so that we can continue to improve on the success of the club. There are various areas we need support with: fundraising & sponsorship social media social events. Please contact Anita Stickland sec@wahroongafc.com.au Committee Age Manager Team manager The Committee is responsible for managing the club and providing support to the Age Managers, team managers and coaches so that they can carry out their respective roles. Every Age Group needs a parent to act as the Age Manager. They organise the Age Group with the assistance of the Committee, to ensure that each team in that age group has the support it needs. Each team needs a parent to act as the manager. They organise their team with the assistance of the Age Manager and the Committee, to ensure the team has the support it needs. Team coach Each team needs a parent to act as the coach. As a coach and with the assistance of the Committee you would look to provide a fun and supportive training and game day environment for the players. Club coaching & training Training is a vital part of the success of each team so each team must have a coach (as per the previous page, T3 will provide a training coach for U6-U11 teams for the first 10 weeks of the season). We all had a lot of fun and I have million drills and games that I am dying to try out at training. Generally the coach will be a parent of one of the players in the team, which is selected after the grading process is completed. Grass Roots Coaching Course To support our coaches we have for over 3 years being successfully providing a Grass Roots Coaching course. This is organised by our Coaching Director - Nick Mountford. We will hold another course in March 2017. For details check out the Wahroonga FC website. Nick Mountford Wahroonga FC Coaching Director I attended the grass roots course this evening. What a great course. I really enjoyed it It was an absolutely brilliant course which I would highly recommend to others. Both Nick and Steve were fantastic! Team training is held at one of the following grounds: Karuah Oval Ku-ring-gai High School Samuel King Oval limited days Team can request the day / time and location so please contact Anita Stickland 0400 985 909 sec@wahroongafc.com.au 11

La Zana s Tigers Den La Zana s Tigers Den has become a great success as the focal point for the parents, spectators and players every Saturday morning during the season. Apart from a full breakfast BBQ menu, there is also fresh baristamade coffee. So there is no need to go elsewhere on the way to Karuah to get your early morning cap or flat white - you can get it at the Tigers Den from 8 am each Saturday. We ask all our members to visit the La Zana Facebook page and to like it as you will be able to check out all the great Wahroonga FC events and offers they provide throughout the year. 12

Whilst the registration fees enable us to fulfill our obligations to the NSFA and provide the grounds we do need additional funds to manage the club and provide support to our players and teams. These extra funds need to come from sponsors and our own fundraising. and we need your help now for 2017 and beyond. Sponsorship There are a range of sponsorship options so if you run or own a business and are looking to not only support the club but also help your business grow there are a number of opportunities including: 1. Direct access to our +650 strong membership through email and our regular Newsletter. 2. Website and Facebook presence. 3. Signage at Karuah Oval on Saturdays. Fundraising Our successful raffles have generated over $1,500 of extra funds annually and we are looking not only to replicate this but also to undertake further fundraising BUT we need your help. We need: 1. PRIZES to include in the raffle. For a local business this is an ideal opportunity to promote it as a committed community based company. 2. IDEAS! and ideally volunteers to become involved in planning new fundraising events. If you would like to get involved in either being a sponsor of Wahroonga FC or to help with fundraising activities please contact our Marketing Manager Terry Jones 0418 488 768 or marketing@wahroongafc.com.au. 13

Merchandise and equipment Wahroonga FC Shop At Karuah Oval on Saturdays and on Registration Day and team allocation days we have a fully stocked club shop with all the Wahroonga kit that you will need, including: Shorts Socks Beanies Caps Polo shirts Fleecies Holdalls All players are issued with a team shirt for use during the season and all new U6 players and U10 & U14 players (who need a bigger ball) get a free football. 14
