Don t forget your own sun protection. and slip, slop, slap! Thankyou to everyone who helped with the Sydney Water Carnival held at Woonona Beach on the 26th November. It was a great team effort, with all our members working together from rookies, patrolling members, nipper parents and life members, and thankyou to everyone who contributed to our baked goods stall, it was a big hit and added greatly to the amount raised. Thankyou also to Outback Steakhouse for sponsoring the day, Outback donated the food and helped cooked the BBQ for the carnival. FACILITY MANAGER Hello everyone, and a very Merry Christmas to you all. Many of you will not know me, as I am a new club member, who has taken on the role of managing the Club House and associated buildings. We have had a productive year so far, which is quite good considering the season has only just started. The Club house has had some major work carried out on the eastern wall to replace the concrete Pillars, and the Roller Doors. We have replaced the Club Computer with a new one, thanks to Anthony Arnold, the computer is now working with the Security system, so hopefully we will have no more access issues. We have purchased and installed a new Stainless Steel BBQ, to replace the older unserviceable unit. It has seen action at the past few Nipper days and appears to be working well. Thanks to the generosity of Aussie Broadband, we now have a full internet and phone service at the club, to solve those annoying internet issues on registration days and to facilitate online learning on training days. I would like to acknowledge a few people who have helped the club in the past few months to achieve the above mentioned services. Peter Rigby has supplied numerous hours in preparing several computers to finally get a working club computer. Peter has re programmed these computers and spent some time at the club getting them to work with the security system. Peter also assisted in fitting the new BBQ. Dave Hill who has donated time, tools and materials to create a door way into the old Gym, now the nipper room, and to assist in the fitting of the new BBQ. Also a big shout out to Aussie Broadband, who have supplied the NBN phone and internet service to the club. All infrastructure and costs being carried by them. So if you are thinking of getting an internet service or moving to a new ISP, give Aussie Broadband a call, and mention that you are a club member and mention their wonderful contribution to our club. I know that you are all proud of your club house and would like to see our club as the stand out club in the area, so to that end I have some big plans for the new year. 1. A new personal access door on the eastern wall. 2. New ceiling fans in the club house 3. Air conditioning for the club house 4. Replacement of the northern roller door 5. A new stainless steel protective cage around the fresh water tank. 6. Renovating the ground floor ladies toilets and showers. 7. Tinting of all the eastern windows of the club house. Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year. Steve Goding To get your story in the next issue of black & white, email vanessamc1964@yahoo.com.au Page 5
RIDING THE WAVES PROGRAM This last Sunday marked the last day of the first block of the Riding the Waves program for kids with disabilities and boy, has it been an experience! The ten kids and their volunteers have taken on every activity I could throw at them and turned around and asked for more. Together, we ve figured out how to do flags, conquered the pool, and are tackling the waves now though some of us are more worried about messing up our hair then being wiped out! We will return next year for another four weeks of the program, over five weeks, from the afternoon of the 29th of January. Anyone who can provide even a week of help is desperately needed, and will have a ball helping out. I know I have! Please contact me at brimc979@gmail.com if you can help. My deepest thanks to everyone who helped this year and I ll see you all next year!
