Don't know about anyone else but I'm ready for spring to get here but Punxsutawney Phil says we are going to have 6 more weeks of winter. During this time of year I keep asking Jo explain to me again why we moved up here from Georgia. With the ride planning meeting done and a lot of rides on the schedule we are both awaiting nicer weather to get out and do what we enjoy. There are plenty of open dates for more rides so if you want to go someplace let me know. Keep your eyes on updates on rides as more information about the rides will be posted as I get it. It is time to get going on our Roll for the Dough visits and we do have quite a few coming up so please sign up as soon as you know you are going. Now would be a good time to get anything done to your bike maintenance-wise as the riding season will be here before you know it. Also check out all your gear to insure it is still in good shape. Happy Valentine s Day! Woody -n- Jo Woodfill - Chapter Directors GATHERING LOCATION Cross Keys Motor Inn Banquet Center SECOND SUNDAY MONTHLY Check with Chapter Director or Assistant Director should there be an unannounced change Corner of Routes 30 & 94 (717) 624-7778 Breakfast at 8:00 am - Gathering 9:00 am - Ride 10:30 am (Weather Permitting)

ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTOR Larry Staines January is behind us and now we're into February. Before you know it March will be here with warmer weather and the start of the riding season. Looking at the chapter calendar the dates are already filling up. We have 4 Roll for Dough visits lined up. Feb 17 we're going to PA-C in Chambersburg, PA-Y is on Feb 24 followed by PA-K in Carlisle on Feb 25. Then moving into March we have MD-F in Hagerstown on the 10th. March 17th our CPR training class is scheduled. I'm sure there is a limited number so if you want in get signed up. On March 24 we have our Bunny Run. It is always fun to visit the kids and see the smiles on their faces when they get a stuffed animal. May 17-18-19 is the PA district Rally in Uniontown PA. Uniontown is south of Pittsburg close to the MD border. PA-V is always well represented at our rally. Get registered and join in the fun. If you do get your bike out anytime soon watch the roads. There is a lot of salt and gravel out there. Also your riding skills are a little rusty so take your time. Ride safe. Larry Staines Assistant Chapter Director MEC NEWS Woody Woodfill Stay tuned for future reports to come. Meanwhile stay warm! Woody Woodfill, MEC Coordinator PA-V Couple of the Year Mike & Judy DeGeiso Stay tuned for future reports to come as Mike and Judy begin their new year as PA-V s Couple of the Year! The second old guy says, that s OK, it s a coincidence I m looking for my wife too, I can t find her and I m getting a little desperate. The first old guy says, Well, maybe I can help you find her. What does she look like? The second old guy says: Well, she is 27 years old, tall, with red hair, blue eyes, long legs, big bust, and wearing short shorts. What does your wife look like? To which the first old guy says.. Doesn t matter let s look for your WIFE. - Submitted by Shirley M Prince

See the PA District Website for Flyers: www.gwrrapadist.org DISTRICT DIRECTOR Wow is it February, time to write another newsletter. Time sure does fly when you are having FUN! We know it has only been a month since we became Pennsylvania District Directors. We appreciate the time that everyone puts it to getting yearend paper work done and selling District Raffle tickets while trying to get ready for Christmas and the New Year.

This month is the drawing for the District Raffle tickets. We hope you have a winning ticket! A list of winners will be announced weekly through PEDS. At our District Team Meeting, the team decided that the month of February was a good time for the drawing. It gives everyone something to look forward to during the winter. So, this coming year, District Raffle tickets will be distributed to the Chapters to sell. Thanks for all your help in selling the tickets! There are many events planned by the District and Chapters for 2018. Take time to look at the District website for the flyers. The first page of the District Newsletter has the events that have been posted to the District website events page. To highlight some of the District Events that are quickly approaching. March 10 th Couple of the Year (COY) Retreat This is a great time to meet couples from other chapters that have been selected to represent their Chapter. You will learn about the honor and what is expected of you. April14 th Officer Conference in Clearfield, PA The purpose of the day is to learn about the office you are holding and the responsibilities of your office along with any changes that home office has implemented. The meeting is open to Chapter Directors, Assistant Chapter Directors, Ride Coordinators, Membership Enhancement Coordinators and Treasurers. Please let us know how many will be attending from your Chapter by March 31, 2018. May 17-19 th PA District Rally in Uniontown, PA Please send in your registration and make your hotel reservation. At the rally, we have scheduled riding courses. The only course that has spots left open is the ARC (Advance Riding Course) for two-wheeled motorcycles. There will be non-riding education classes held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. All Chapters East & All Chapters West Both campgrounds are taking reservations for the event. And don t forget to send your registration in to the host chapter. Both these events are FUN so, plan on attending even if you do not camp! We have been receiving phone calls about planning a Day of Training at your chapter or a couple of chapters going together. Now is a great time to have a non-riding day of training. Please contact Gerry and Bonnie VanArt, PA District University Trainers, at 570-759-9304 or Tim and Crystal Brakebill, Assistant PA District University Trainers, at 724-816-7734 to schedule a time. Or contact Doug Motter, PA District Educator, at 717-226-3153 to schedule a riding course such as the Road Captains Course at your chapter this summer. Remember to always ride safe. Harold and Diane Jackson Your PA District Directors ASSISTANT DISTRICT DIRECTOR Hello Everyone This is our first newsletter as your new Asst. District Directors, and we thought we would share you a little about ourselves. Shirley & I have been married since 1977 (OMG)!!!! We have 2 children: a son Mike and a daughter Nicole; we have 3 grandsons & 1 great grandson 13 months. I started riding motorcycles when I was 15 on a dirt bike. I got my first street legal motorcycle when I was 16 (It was a poor-man s work transportation). Fast forward 29 years On our 25 th Wedding Anniversary we went to Maui, while walking the beach, we came across a shop renting all kinds of vehicles and saw a Harley soft tail. Jokingly, I said we should rent it and ride the island. Of course, she said yes. I was shocked, as she had never ridden with me before. But I wasn t going to let this opportunity pass by. We rode all day, including to the top of the islands Volcano, Haleakala, with no helmet, and in flipflops. I know, I know, we know better now and ride ATGATT. We both had a blast and knew then we were bitten by the Biker Bug Not long after we returned home we bought our first bike - a 1986 1200 Goldwing. It wasn t long after we had our Black 2002 GL1800, which we re still riding today with more than 126,000 miles on it. Shirley and I both participate in the levels program. She is a Master Level IV and I m a Senior Master Level IV. We have held many positions in GWRRA from Chapter Couple of the Year to Chapter Directors, and many others at the District, Region, and the National level as the Asst. Directors of the Membership Enhancement for the Chapter of the Year Programs. I m a Senior University Trainer, and ITCP certified Instructor. Am currently the Chapter Treasure, Chapter Web Master, PED coordinator. In addition we re your PA. Asst. Directors, overseeing Chapters A. B. K. V and Y. It is February, and as of writing this article, we don t know if the ground hog did or didn t see his shadow. But we know Spring is just around the corner and will be riding soon. So be safe riding and we will see you soon. In closing we want to say Thank You to Harold & Diane Jackson for the opportunity to serve on the District Team, and a heads up to Chapters A. B. K. V & Y, we will be stopping by to see you soon. Meanwhile if you have a question or need help with anything feel free to give us a call. (717) 495-5400 or email mikep@gwrrapav.org. Mike & Shirley Prince PA Asst. District Directors

PA DISTRICT EDUCATOR Hello everyone. In the last newsletter, I talked about the data available on the Rider Education website. I also explained how to enter this site so you can review your own information. This month, I would like to explain the difference between Safe Mileage and High Mileage. Safe Mileage begins on the day you join GWRRA. Your safe mileage increases for every mile you ride your motorcycle without having a reportable accident. If you have an accident which is reportable for insurance claim or by law enforcement as an accident, your mileage reverts back to 0 miles. The program awards a pin for every 5,000 miles safely ridden. We have many members with 100,000 miles in the program. High Mileage is just for bragging rights. This is not a GWRRA program. High Mileage indicates the number of miles you have accumulated since you began riding a motorcycle legally. Safe miles bars awarded in 50,000 increments are displayed from a head pin. I must say it again, This is not a GWRRA program. However, we have members in the Pennsylvania District with over 400,000 miles...and they are still adding up the miles! In the coming months, I will explain what the Levels Program is, how the program works, and why it is important to all of us as GWRRA members. It is up to you to monitor and update your information for the website, but I am here to help when needed. Please feel free to contact me when you have questions or need other assistance. Doug Motter PA District Educator DISTRICT COY COORDINATORS: February, a month we all start thinking Spring --Feb. 2nd Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day & President's Day all in the shortest month of the year. Reading Chapter Newsletters, there are several Chapters that will be having a Meet & Eat scheduled to enjoy the Valentine Weekend and share with the spouses. Make it a Special Day! Looking into March, the item that Couples of the Year are excited about is the Couple of the Year Retreat! The dates are March 10 & 11 at the Comfort Inn located in Duncansville just a few miles from Altoona. The weekend is a relaxing time for Couples to get to know each other, play a few games, enjoy a meal together & learn more about the COY Program. The same weekend is Spring Ahead the clocks for daylight savings time. We hope to see your Chapter Couple there as we "Cruise on in to the Couples Retreat"! January has kept us on the go! We enjoyed New Year's Eve dinner with PA C, the PA S after Holiday Party, PA B gathering as they announced their 2018 Couple of the Year & PA K gathering. We enjoyed the entertainment at PA S Party as always. Roll for the Dough is keeping the Chapters busy. Take a look at the points already for 2018! Your Chapter Couple are Ambassadors so Introduce them where ever you go as they are an Honored Couple! Thinking of the Chapter of the Year, the District is awaiting the announcement for the 2017 Chapter of the Year in the near future. Thanks to all the Chapters that have submitted their score sheets as this is the last chance to be Chapter of the Year for PA District. The PA District Rally in Uniontown May 17, 18 & 19 is not all that far away. All Chapters East & West flyers are out and the hosting Chapters PA P & PA B will have plenty scheduled to make sure we all have a fun weekend. Make your reservations and get your registration form sent in. The Officers Conference is April 14 in Clearfield as we look ahead as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon in our adventures in 2018. Think Spring! Barry & Rhonda Blyler PA District Couple of the Year Coordinators
