VOLUME 4 ISSUE 6 The golf industry and business community team up to promote the game FAEQ: $73,000 in bursaries 2017: Rendez-vous at La Vallée du Richelieu

Volume 4 Issue 6 Message from the Executive Director Jean-Pierre Beaulieu The golf industry and business community team up to promote the game It is a great feeling and extremely motivating to see that so many participants come back every year to play in our Fundraiser Tournament. It is a sure sign that the golf industry and business community are working hand in hand to promote the game of golf and maintain its status as the sport that has the highest level of participation in the country. The theme of our annual Fundraiser Tournament is From School to the Golf Club, which reflects our daily initiatives. The Golf Québec team is very proud of its achievements and concrete success stories of the past few years. campaign will expand even more to pursue our initiatives that facilitate the transition of children from their Golf in Schools introduction program to actually playing at the golf club. I would like to thank the young athletes who actively contributed to the success of our Tournament as well as the Club Laval-sur-le-Lac for their hospitality, their Club President Luc Martin, Luc Lapointe, Steven Brosseau, and Raymond Richer. A special mention goes to our Honorary Co-Presidents, Mr. Vincent Damphousse and Pierre Pomerleau. Their commitment and passion for the game of golf were instrumental to the success of this year s Fundraiser. MAKE A DONATION: http://www.golfquebec.org/en/pages.asp?id=229 This Tournament is the pinnacle of our annual fundraising campaign. The collected funds will be used to pursue our initiatives because if we see more children and families on golf courses, it will be proof that our industry is thriving. In this process, as you will read on page 9, we should not forget to support our young golfers who are aiming for higher levels of performances. Bursaries that were distributed this year in collaboration with the Fondation de l athlète d excellence du Québec (FAEQ) clearly express our desire to financially support developing studentathletes and provide them with the required structures to help them reach their competitive goals. Raymond Richer and Steven Brosseau du Club Laval-sur-le-Lac In 2017, Golf Québec will celebrate the 11th anniversary of its annual Fundraiser Tournament. I am proud to announce that Club de golf de la Vallée du Richelieu will be our host on October 2, 2017. Don t miss it. We are proud of these achievements and intend on pursuing our efforts. 2016 Fundraiser Tournament $75,754 to support the introduction of children to golf The 10th edition of the Golf Québec Fundraiser Tournament was held on October 3 at Club Lavalsur-le-Lac. Pierre Pomerleau, President and Chief Executive of Pomerleau, and Vincent Damphousse, former star centerman of the Montréal Canadiens, were Honorary Co-Presidents of the event. This traditional golf celebration was the pinnacle of the From School to the Golf Club fundraiser in which $75,754 was collected this year. For Golf Québec, it was a privilege and an honour to work with Club Laval-sur-le-Lac and more specifically with Mr. Pomerleau and Mr. Damphousse. Our Honorary Co-Presidents accepted the challenge raised by Golf Québec with great enthusiasm. Both of them share a passion for the game of golf. True to high standards in their professional lives, these inspired gentlemen were committed to making a difference and facilitating the transition of children to our golf clubs. They truly were instrumental to the great success of this fundraiser, confided Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec. From School to the Golf Club Following its tradition, Golf Québec is promoting junior golf development on the theme From School to the Golf Club. The Fundraiser Tournament s main purpose is to raise the money required by Golf Québec to pursue golf development initiatives specifically designed for children and families. The collected funds will be used to pursue the initiatives that facilitate the transition of children from their Golf in Schools introduction program to actually playing at the golf club. This can be done through golf professional visitations in teaching establishments, CN Future Links Field Trips to the club, and Golfmobile outings. Through ten editions of this key fundraiser, over $627,000 was collected to promote the sport development of new young golfers. It is a great feeling and extremely motivating to see that so many participants come back every year to play in our Fundraiser Tournament. It is a sure sign that the golf industry and business community are working hand in hand to promote the game of golf and maintain its status as the sport that has the highest level of participation in the country, explained Marcel Paul Raymond, Golf Québec President. The past 10 years were very successful in many projects: 510 elementary schools and 67 high schools were adopted as part of the Golf in Schools program, over 125 school visitations by golf professionals and CN Future Links Field Trips were made, over 100 Golfmobile outings were made in schools and city parks, 40 golf clubs are offering the CN Future Links program, there are 8 regional First Drive Tours cumulating 32 annual events, 12 Junior Golf Development Centres are recognized in Québec, and 68 community coaches were trained up to now. As a result, these initiatives have a direct impact on our sport development. Over 80 students-golfers are training in a Golf-études program conducted in 14 teaching establishments at the high school and collegiate levels. In addition, 18 of our athletes were appointed to the Team Canada program. Golf Québec thanks its partners: Club Laval-sur-le- Lac, Pomerleau, Park Avenue Group, Groupe Quorum and Groupe Marsan, McGill St-Laurent, Turkish Airlines, Merit Travel, RDS, Masi wines, Golf Château Bromont, Golf Canada, ClubLink, Groupe Germain, 98,5 FM, J. Photo gallery http://www.faeq.com/index.php/ communications-etevenements/galeriephotos#nanogallery/nanogallery1/72157673573248510 The program was born of the two organizations common desire to financially support and provide guidance to young student-athletes, all while raising awareness about the importance of pursuing and succeeding in academics alongside a career on the greens. Eleven generous donors have contributed to the project: Hason Steel, Claude Chagnon, Marc Dalpé, Fednav, F. Furst Enterprises LTD, Fondation des Gouverneurs de Québec, Fondation Roland Beaulieu, Groupe Park Avenue, William Molson, Peacock Family Foundation and Raymond Royer.
