As no suitable apprentice riders were available Stewards permitted senior rider replacements. Race 1 LAURELS FUNCTION CENTRE MAIDEN PLATE - 2237 metres: After being placed in its barrier stall Prince Kilkarlen became restless and for this reason was removed from its barrier stall, underwent a veterinary examination and was deemed fit to race.

Stella s Choice jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Edgardo. In the early and middle stages Toomucup overraced and got its head up on a number occasions. Approaching the 600 metres Stella s Choice shifted out from behind the leader and made contact with Toomucup which commenced to give ground. Rounding the home turn and in the straight Prince Kilkarlen hung out and at times in the straight proved difficult to ride out for its rider. C. Parish, rider of The Mullet, first placegetter, was fined $400 for using his whip on fourteen occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres. Ms K. Nesbit, rider of Toomucup which performed poorly, reported that although her mount overraced, the gelding did not handle today s track conditions. C. Symons, rider of One More Beer (fifth placegetter) reported that although the gelding handled today s heavy track conditions he could offer no explanation for its poor performance. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. After the running of Race 1 Stewards downgraded the track rating to Heavy 9 at 12 noon due to a heavy dew and fog this morning retrospective to Race 1. Race 2 HEYFIELD WETLANDS MAIDEN PLATE - 1424 metres: The explanation offered by trainer Mr J. McArdle (Gungnir) was accepted for the colt s late arrival on course. Caballo Jack jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Black Temptation jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Moosem. Capsized bounded and lost ground on jumping away. Encosta Rossa was slow to begin. Encosta Rossa raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. Moosem began to overrace passing the 900 metres and raced in an awkward position for some distance behind Black Temptation until near the 800 metres where it had to be steadied when bumped out by Capsized. Strada Saliente raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. Rounding the home turn Gungnir was carried out by Sir Delago and momentarily inconvenienced. For a short distance near the 200 metres Moosem had some difficulty obtaining a clear run. Passing the 50 metres Strada Saliente was inconvenienced when Encosta Rossa shifted out after being struck with the whip. C. Robertson, rider of Caballo Jack which performed below market expectations, reported that the colt raced greenly for the majority of the race and shifted out off its course near the 800 metres and layed out from that point when under pressure. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.

R. Booth, rider of Sir Delago, was reprimanded for using his whip on six occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres. Correct weight was delayed as Stewards viewed the head on film of the straight. Stewards lodged an objection on behalf of the connections of Victorious Tale (second placegetter)for alleged interference inside the 100 metres against Tawjeeh (first placegetter). Evidence was tended by both riders and it was established that near the 50 metre Tawjeeh shifted in under pressure making slight contact with Victorious Tale, and approaching the winning post both horses made slight contact due to both shifting ground. Nonetheless Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the initial contact near the 50 metres warranted an amendment to the placings and therefore the objection was dismissed. J. Benbow, rider of Victorious Tale was reminded of his obligations that when in doubt he has the facility to delay correct weight so that he can view the Stewards footage and determine whether an objection should or should not be lodged. Race 3 HEYFIELD TIMBERTOWN MAIDEN PLATE (1) - 1424 metres: Mr Keith was slow to begin. Shortly after the start Spinning Moment shifted out slightly and had to be steadied off the heels of Bikini Dancer. For the majority of the race Dubai To Dublin raced wide without cover. Spinning Moment began to overrace near the 1000 metres, shifted out and was then exposed and wide without cover before being allowed to stride to take up a position outside the leader near the 700 metres. In the middle stages Captain Bart overraced. Rounding the home turn Mr Keith and Max Is Back were held up when unable to obtain clear runs. After obtaining a clear run near the 200 metres Max Is Back shifted out and took Black Fascinator out towards Spinning Moment, then shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of Rose Of Camelot. Near the 200 metres Mr Keith gained a tight run between Dubai To Dublin which was laying in, and Captain Bart. This resulted in Mr Keith making contact with the hindquarters of Captain Bart which then shifted in and away from that gelding at which time Bikini Dancer shifted in to a tight run between Captain Bart and Rose Of Camelot. As a result of this Bikini Dancer made slight contact with the hindquarters of Rose Of Camelot turning that filly out which caused Bikini Dancer having to be checked and becoming unbalanced and losing its rightful position. Due to a number of contributing circumstances to this incident no blame could be attributed to one rider and no action was taken. Near the 100 metres Buzzing shifted out abruptly after being struck by the whip and hampered Spinning Moment. Race 4 café 3858 MAIDEN PLATE - 1424 metres: Heart Thumper was slow to begin. Zachord jumped away awkwardly. Stern Reality was caught wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride and take up a position outside the leader near the 100 metres. Tamarindon raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. Near the 700 metres Prince Valiant when racing close to the heels of Da Fly, shifted out abruptly from that gelding s heels and in doing so took Desert Heist and Tamarindon out further off their course. Near the 500 metres Da Fly was momentarily steadied when tightened for room between Deep Tze and Prince Valiant which shifted in slightly. After passing the 300 metres Heart Thumper hung out.

Race 5 VERN GRAHAM HOME HARDWARE 0-62 HANDICAP - 2237 metres: East Verses West was tightened for room at the start due to Ferocious Fire shifting in and Red Sole shifting out. Playboy Frank got its head up on jumping away. Passing the winning post on the first occasion Luck s A Fortune had to be steadied off the heels of Playboy Frank. Playboy Frank which was caught wide without cover in the early stages, was allowed to stride to take up a position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres. Race 6 LATROBE VALLEY ELECTRICAL SERVICES HEYFIELD CUP - 1741 metres: Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Ms A. Johnston, trainer of Artie Royale who reported that Artie Royale had an elevated temperature and was therefore unfit to take its place in the field, Stewards authorised the withdrawal of Artie Royale at 8.07 a.m. Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr M. Kent, trainer of Belmaison, who reported that the gelding had pulled a shoe, stood on a nail and was lame and therefore unfit to take its place in the field, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Belmaison at 10.14 a.m. Both trainers were notified to lodge veterinary certificates in regard to the scratchings. Eight Cards and Bec Said No Credit were slow to begin. For the majority of the race Canadian Major raced wide without cover. For a short distance rounding the home Haka Brave was held up for a clear run. Near the 200 metres Snip Of A Girl was accidentally hit over the head by the whip of P. Moloney, rider of Bec Said No Credit. Near the 200 metres C. Schofield, rider of Mossale, accidentally dropped his whip. After passing the 200 metres Snip Of A Girl when racing tight to the outside of Bec Said No Credit, had to be steadied when that gelding continued to shift out. B. Loy, rider of Canadian Major which performed below expectations, reported that when he placed his mount under pressure in the straight, he was of the view there was something amiss with the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed Canadian Major to have a slower than normal recovery rate and small lacerations to the near hind leg. Race 7 vern graham home hardware 0-68 handicap - 1213 metres: Mr J. Welsh, trainer of Mightyblitz was fined $100 for the late notification of J. Benbow rider of the gelding. Sergius threw its head up as the gates were released and struck Ms K. Nisbet, the gelding s rider, in the face and as a result lost ground. Shortly after the start Cheronbutch shifted in and bumped Lotus Flower Prior to the straightening Right Idea had to be steadied when it ran out of room when attempting a run to the outside of Lotus Flower. This resulted in Right Idea then being held up for a short distance. Shortly after straightening Lotus Flower had to be checked severely and became unbalanced when avoiding the heels of Al Jandar (M. Allen) which shifted out and away from Brave Prince. After taking into account all of the circumstances that being Al Jandar had improved to the outside of Brave Prince when Brave Prince was shifting ground, Stewards were of the view that this compounded

the incident. However, M. Allen was severely reprimanded and notified that when in similar circumstances he would be expected to leave sufficient galloping room for runners to his outside. In the straight Sergius layed out under pressure. Race 8 sale water specialists gippsland middle distance series heat 3-1524 metres: Shortly after the start Chatrang shifted in and bumped Zaccheus. Near the 1200 metres Capodichino raced ungenerously. Near the 150 metres Bee s Honey was taken out by Shearer and shortly after this was held up for a short distance behind that gelding. B. Loy, rider of Capodichino which performed poorly, explained that there may be something amiss with the gelding as it failed to respond to his riding and gave ground in the straight. A post race veterinary examination of Capodichino did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. C. Robertson, rider of Railblazer which performed poorly, explained that the gelding failed to handle today s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of Railblazer did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. A. McCabe, rider of Grand Orator, was fined $400 for using his whip on 9 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres. He was reprimanded for consecutive use on one occasion. Follow ups: R.1 One More Beer R.8 Capodichino. ADJOURNED INQUIRIES: Seymour Racing Club Saturday June 15, 2013 Race 9 -Centrebet Super Best Plus 0-62 Handicap - 1412m: Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason for Golden Jeuney (B. Loy) dislodging its rider near the 800 metres. Evidence was taken today from apprentice jockey B. Loy who was unavailable after being transported to hospital on the day. After further examination of the Stewards footage and the evidence obtained throughout both inquiries it was established that Golden Jeuney shifted out slightly approaching the 800 metres making contact with Palliser and shortly after Golden Jeuney becoming unbalanced after being bumped by Palliser when racing tight on the inside of Crown Gem which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. Stewards were of the view that no one rider was fully responsible for this incident and no further action was taken, however, P. Mertens will be notified that he must leave sufficient galloping room for runners to his inside in future.
