PAGE 4 JULY LADIES LUNCHEON By Kathy McKee /Picture By Kathy Federico The July Ladies' Luncheon was held at The Market Kitchen and Bar on Aspen in the Heritage Square on Tuesday, July 17th. Once again, we were able to sit outside (in the shade) and enjoy the great weather! There were 6 or 7 types of Macaroni & Cheese on the menu, including one with Lobster! Everyone seemed to relish their food, but $4 for a side order seemed a bit much. Our birthday girl, Ann Piper, shared a large chocolate chip cookie with us for dessert. Those present were: Kathy Federico, Ann Piper (the birthday girl), Sallie Page, Alice St. Germain, Jackie Clark, Donna Veihdeffer, Kathi Westerdahl and Kathy McKee.

PAGE 7 MY 1965 RED TOW TRUCK by CURTIS DEIBEL My dad, Carlin Deibel, owner of Carlins Body Shop, bought a 1965 Chevy truck from Gale Tyrrell at Tyrrell Chevrolet Buick which at the time was at the location where the city hall building is now. It was originally ordered for APS but when it arrived APS didn t want it anymore. Gale Tyrrell and my dad were at a coffee shop and the subject of the truck came up (short story). My dad bought the truck. Tyrrells had already painted the truck red. A tow truck was built by hand making the bed and boom for the business by Carlins Body Shop at Phoenix Avenue & San Francisco St., and I learned to drive the truck at the age of 13 years old. What an honor. In 1973 the business was moved to 2608 N. West St. In 1976 I had decided to put the truck on the rotation list with the FPD, Sheriff, and DPS. In 1978 the Carlins Body Shop was removed and Deibel AMC Jeep was installed. In 1985 the Deibel AMC Jeep was taken off and it become Deibel AMC Jeep Renault. In 1988 Chrysler came in the picture and the signs were changed again. In 1977 my dad passed away from Lou Gehrig s disease and except for some personal thing the truck became retired.
