NEWSLETTER Mar. 2017 2004 Hi Y'all PRESIDENT S NOTES Today I write a little about me, which I don't like to do. Barb & I started out to the Lockhart Car Show with eight other cars. Just west of Bee Cave we had a near catastrophe. The Cobra struck back!!! Don't know how many times we spun around, but do know we used all 4 lanes! Chris Hillin said at least 2 times. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic! As you would guess, this resulted in a pin stripe in my tidy whities, or is it graphics if it's more than an inch wide!! I guess all's well that ends well. We made it back home slowly & safely. I surmise Cobras don't like water. The club members had a good time at Bills Burgers on Valentines Day prior to the monthly meeting. Good turnout. Thanks to all who attended. Kind of a 'Roast the Prez' meeting. I now have a traveling kit in case of another issue while traveling!! Thank you D.D. Pelham for being so thoughtful. But I think a different color would be more appropriate. So, anyone who missed the meeting really missed a great time. We gained a new member this month. I would like to welcome Leroy Rohan from Marble Falls. MMS (MARK S MONTHLY SCRIBBLINGS) Howdy LARC Members, It's Time for the Newsletter to be printed, so I will tarry no longer. Feb.14th - Happy Valentines Day! About 40 members met at The Romantic, Cozy, and of course Fine Candle lit Dining at Its best BILLS!!!! The Extraordinarily Handsome Gentleman handing out the Beautiful Deep Red Long stemmed Roses was no other than our very own President Donald Joseph Weber, The actual grower of said Roses... Yes, you heard that correctly. Also Don grows these fine Roses in rocks, He said to me in very strict confidence, this is why they are so Red, I did not know that, Amazing... Feb. 15th. We rondevued [Ed. Ouch!] at the Fine Eating Establishment know as Mama's Home Cooking to partake in the finest of fare, to go elsewhere would be a Travesty. A Grand time was had by all attendees. Feb. 17th. Found our Culinary Research Team of I believe 12, at the Fabulous EAGLE S Lodge in the famous Village of Granite Shoals.. This was to critique the pallaticitie [Ed. OUCH!!!] of their said steaks and trimmings. We will again meet at another later date to confirm our findings. Feb.18th. Our Esteemed Auto and Wine Members caravanned, led by our Chief in all such matters, Mr. James Rugg to the establishment known as the 290 Winery. We met other Vintage Car Enthusiasts. Drank a little Wine had a very nice lunch provided by said Winery. A few members went to EJ and Zena's home, not far from the Winery. It was a very lovely day, enjoyed by all. [Ed Note Some of us visited EJ and Zena s home Copper Roof Ranch, southwest of JC. Zena s works of art and the home she designed around art were well worth seeing.] Feb. 24th. Do you know how lucky this Club is to have such Royalty directing the Monthly Dining Out Experience??? Known by all as "THE DD PELAM DINING EXTRAVAGANZA DD Pelam, Brother Tom and QUEEN SHIRLEY did it again.. The Dining out fun and food fest was held at The Quaint 2300 Restaurant. Food was great as was the exemplary service. The table centerpieces ( Q. S ) were gorgeous, Teddy Bears, candy bars. Speaking of said Teddy Bears, I believe Mr. B.C. found his second true LOVE, a drawing was held and B.C had to give up his Teddy because a drawing was held for the Ladies and all the Teddy Bears went to them. B.C. doesn't swear much, but I heard him murmur something bad under his breath. Feb.25th. We left as a group from the Shell Station and drove to the Stephanie Myers Air and Car Show in Georgetown. There were a lot of cars not seen before and I believe between 350 and 400 cars total. We had 12-15 from our club. Weather was real cold early because I wore shorts and had qoosies most of the day, then the wind went away and it warmed up...for the first time that i can remember, no trophy's for our members.. Great day though, took a few of our members for donuts and coffee but couln'd find any, so made a U turn and proceeded to the Show. just sayin. Oh yes March 3. Friday is Fever, eat where you wish, We will eat at Mama's March 25th. Hamilton (Car Show). email to follow, That is all.. Mark Love y'all 2

EDITOR S CORNER Folks, we have a lot of pictures in this issue, since there were a lot of events to document and represent, so we ll have to cut the number of pictures for each event, so the internet can handle a file that is not too large, since your friendly Editor s e-mail connection is about one step above smoke signals. In addition, George DeWitt sent a picture and a small story from his and Rachael s youth. George responded to your Editor s plea last month for stories and pictures from the members. George s is a good start, so let it not be the last. Otherwise, your Editor is going to bore you all with his pictures and stories even if he has to make them up!! Our club is almost 13 years old, and as a consequence, we have had an extensive turnover in membership, and our founding and long-time members are in the minority. Your editor has been working with Founding Members Mike Dohrse, and Don and Cleora Craw to put together the history of the founding of the Lake Area Rods and Classics back in 2004. It is high time that the story of the club s founding be told, so that the current members become aware of all the hard work to get the concept of a unique car club off the ground and into reality. Next month, the beginning of the club will be told. There were so many events in February that need to be reported on that short shrift would be given to the story of the club s beginning. GEORGE & RACHAEL S STORY Found a box of pictures the other day and I came across some pictures of an old car I use to own during my street racing days, back 40 plus years ago. Back in 1978 I decided to take a break from college and landed a summer job at an auto parts store. That summer I met that sweet thing posing next to my car who was the parts runner for that auto parts store where we both worked. Well fast forward almost 38 years of marriage and many other vehicles and toys, that sweet thing still has all my attention and love. [Editor s Note How the heck can a guy find the time and money to go to college and have a hot car as well as a beautiful girl at the same time???? OOPS! I did the same thing! so I d better shut up!] 5
