2018 HDS Membership and Year End Award Horse/Rider Registration Don t forget to submit your 2018 HDS membership dues and also register your horse/rider combination to qualify for HDS Year End Awards. Two options to enter: 1.) Mailed entry- only checks or money orders payable to HDS are accepted. For security, NO CREDIT CARDS accepted for mailed entries. Show entry must be postmarked by the closing date. 2.) Online entry- credit cards are only method of payment. A 3.5% online processing fee will be added to total your fees. Visa, Master Card, and Discover only (no American Express) www.showsecretary.com E-mailed entries will NOT be accepted. Checks will be deposited upon receipt. Dishonored checks or declined credit cards will require complete repayment prior to the show plus a service charge of $35. All outstanding fees must be paid before show packets are issued. Entries: Entries must be postmarked on or before January 5, 2018. Entries after closing date will be considered post entry and will incur late fees. FOR SPECIAL DELIVERIES, PLEASE SEND ENTRIES WITHOUT A SIGNATURE NEEDED!! NO CERTIFIED, REGISTERED, OR EXPRESS MAIL WITH A SIGNATURE NECESSARY FOR RECEIPT WILL BE ACCEPTED!! Complete entries must include copies of owner/rider/trainer/coach current USEF card(s) or non-member fee and USDF card(s) or non-member fee; a copy of horse s Registration/Recording card or certificate; and a copy of a Coggins taken within 12 months of the show dates showing the same horse name as on the entry. Entries missing any of these items will be considered incomplete. Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, based on postmark date and entries may be limited. Those entries postmarked after closing will be accepted at the discretion of the show secretary, based on a space available basis and charged a $50 late fee per show. If the classes are oversubscribed, a Waiting List (in the order of receipt) will be maintained. Management reserves the right to refuse any entry. Great American/USDF Qualifying Classes: For the Great American/USDF Qualifying rides, riders and owners must have an active USEF Membership. Riders are required to have a USDF Participating Membership; Owners may have a USDF Participating or Business Membership. Horses must be Annual or Lifetime Recorded with USEF and USDF Lifetime Registered, an HID is not sufficient. Great American qualifying entries must include horse USEF and USDF registration and rider s and owner s USEF and USDF card(s). Official Ride Times: Stabling assignments and provisional times will be available to competitors at www.showsecretary.com. Official times will be available at noon the day before the show. All Change requests for the must be made by 11:00 AM the day prior to the class. Refund Policy: Cancellations prior to closing date will be refunded, less office fee and online processing fee. If the owner is owed a refund of $25 or less, the refund can be donated to the HDS Education Fund by checking the line at the bottom of the entry form. No refunds will be given after closing date. Hazardous Weather/Act OF God/Accident Policy: Management reserves the right to cancel any classes due to hazardous weather, Acts of God, accident, or emergency. Every effort will be made to reschedule with priority given to any qualifying classes being offered. No refunds for cancellations due to hazardous weather, Acts of God, accidents or emergencies. Schedule: Classes may not necessarily be run in the order listed in the class lists. It is the responsibility of the rider to inform the show secretary of any time conflicts as soon as possible after receiving the schedule. Management reserves the right to change officials, limit entries, combine or cancel classes, and modify the schedule, and to modify or cancel awards and/or make whatever changes are required by circumstances to the competition specifications listed herein. Show Management reserves the right to cancel classes insufficiently filled and to refuse or require withdrawal of an entry for cause deemed sufficient by Show Management. All horses must wear show numbers at all times when out of stall. Scores: It is the responsibility of the competitor to verify the accuracy of all scores. Scoring errors must be reported to the Show Secretary within one hour of the official posting of the scores from the last class of the show day during which the score was earned. 6

Freestyles/Music: The minimum score required to enter a freestyle class at any level for a horse/rider combination is 60 percent. Competitors must submit a copy of a test at the highest level showing that the required 60 percent was met in order to enter the Freestyle at that level. Music for all freestyles on CD must be given to the show office upon check in to show office. Sound checks will be conducted Friday afternoon and/or during the Saturday lunch break before or after dragging and after the last class Saturday. The times for sound checks will be posted in the show office. Competitors are responsible to picking up their music before the end of the show. Music left will not be mailed. Opportunity Classes: Opportunity classes are intended for entry level riders. Horses and riders entered only in Opportunity classes are exempt from USEF and USDF membership requirements, and do not have to pay non-member (show pass) or HID fees. Federation and drug fees do not apply. Horses entered only in these classes are still subject to and must comply with the Drugs and Medication rules and are subject to drug testing. Riders and/or horses entered in opportunity classes may not cross enter into other recognized classes at the show. Participants must abide by all USEF regulations pertaining to attire, tack and equipment for the recognized show. Reference GR821 for additional information. Opportunity Classes at HDS 2018 Recognized Shows will count towards 2018 HDS Schooling Show Championship qualifying and HDS year-end Schooling Show Awards. Pony Measurements: Show Management will notify Veterinarian and Technical Delegate of competitors requiring Pony measurements. Ponies will be measured on Friday between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Additional measurement times, if required, will be posted in the show office on Friday at 6:00 pm. All ponies competing in pony classes that do not have a valid pony card must be measured prior to the first class shown. Measurement requests MUST be received prior to the start of competition. Stabling: Stalls are permanent, 10 x 10 with solid walls and doors. Two bags of shavings are provided with each stall. Additional bags may be purchased must use facility shavings per contract no outside shavings permitted. Stall charts will be posted and check-in will start at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2017. Early arrivals and late departures are only available by arrangement with Show Secretary at $45/night/stall. Cost applies to horse stalls or tack stalls. Stalls must be vacated by 9:00 pm Sunday or the late departure fee paid. There is a $50 penalty for switching horse stalls without notifying the Show Office in advance. GSWEC will charge a $100 fine for anyone bringing in shavings from outside the facility. No staples or nails are allowed to be affixed to any Great Southwest Equestrian Center Property with the exception of stall cards. Individuals wishing to tape advertisements or flyers to the walls must first obtain approval in writing from Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Such approval must be shown to Show Management prior to display or the flyers will be removed. THERE WILL BE NO SMOKING IN THE BARNS AND NEAR THE INDOOR WARM-UP ARENA. DESIGNATED SMOKING AREAS WILL BE PROVIDED. Arenas/Footing/Warm-Up: All tests and warm-up will be ridden in covered arenas with sand/clay footing mix. Competition arenas include up to three indoor arenas. The main indoor facility will have two dressage arenas for non-level 3 classes. The east arena will have one arena which complies with a Dressage Level 3 show for all Level 3 classes. Each arena is 20 x 60 meters. Para Equestrian classes may be ridden in a small arena 20 x 40 meters, except for Grade IV-V Freestyles. Required Eventing tests will be ridden in a small arena, 20 x 40 meters (see page 4.) Schedule for schooling will be posted at the show grounds. Lunging will be permitted in first outdoor sand arena. Arenas close at 9:00 pm. Awards: HDS Winter Shows I and II: Trophies will be presented for first place and ribbons will be presented for first through sixth place. Qualifying classes will not be pinned separately. Champion High Point ribbon and trophy and a Reserve High Point Champion ribbon will be given at each show in three divisions: Open, Amateur, Jr/YR at the National Levels combined (Training Level through Fourth Level), FEI Levels combined (Prix St. Georges, I-I, I-II, IA, IB and Grand Prix), and Freestyles combined each day. The following classes are not eligible: Materiale (3-5 year-olds), Opportunity Classes, Eventing, Pas De Deux, Quadrille, Introductory Level, Young Horse (4-6 yr old) and Equitation. Riders must collect their awards at the show. Awards will not be mailed afterwards. Pony High Score Award- The Pony Division will have a High Point National Dressage Pony Cup Champion ribbon and trophy along with second through fifth place High Point National Dressage Pony Cup ribbons for the highest Pony scores for the National and FEI tests combined at both the HDS Winter Shows I & II. Freestyles, Opportunity Classes, Eventing, Para, Pas De Deux, Quadrille, Introductory Level, Materiale (3-5 yr old) and Equitation classes are not eligible for these High Point awards. Riders must collect their awards at the show. Awards will not be mailed afterwards. Concessions are available at show grounds. No cooking is allowed on the premises. EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. GR845 Equine Vaccination Rule At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers or veterinarian s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. 5. Competition Management may not amend or enhance vaccination requirements without prior approval of the Veterinary Committee. BOD 1/17/15 Effective 12/1/15. Helmet Policy: Current USEF helmet policy will be strictly enforced. Sharps Containers: Competition management shall place a minimum of one sharps container per each competition, whether or not stabling is provided. Additionally, at least one sharps container per fifty occupied stalls for the disposal of needles and other disposable sharp instruments in convenient locations in barns housing competition horses. It is competition management s responsibility to replace such containers when full and dispose of them properly. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. If local law has different requirements, local law will prevail. Motorized Vehicle Statement in accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4 H members; 5) walk trot (execption: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 10

All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the show management whose decision shall be final. Every horse entered for competition will comply with the rules of the horse show management, but management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold this horse show and the officials and employees of the show blameless for any loss or accident to his horse, employees, equipment, which may occur from sickness, fire or otherwise. The management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors, prohibit entries and cancel award prizes without claims for damages; to cancel or combine unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges. Exhibitors are notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judges or officials, on the part of the owner, manager, rider, or groom shall disqualify the horse, and the owner shall forfeit his entry fee and other fees. Show management reserves to itself the power to prohibit any person from attending or showing a horse in the ring and to remove any groom or horse from the show without being liable for compensation. No person will be allowed in the show ring during the time of judging except the exhibitor and those having official or requested duties to perform. It is the tradition of the show that riders be correctly attired for the class in question, that attendants be neatly dressed and the horses properly presented. Management may in its discretion bar any person from entering the ring if not suitable presented to appear before an audience. 11
