(2) (1) FP 400Y Principle of Opertion ON/OFF Opertion In the close position (Fig 1): The wter pressure supplie through the priming line (2) is trppe in the control chmber (1) by the operting vlve (3) pressing the sel isc (4) own n thereby seling the vlve n keeping the system piping ry In the open position (Fig 1b): Pressure is relese from the control chmber by wy of the operting vlve (3), which cn be ctivte either electriclly, hyruliclly, pneumticlly or mnully. With no pressure in the control chmber the sel isc will open n llow n unrestricte wter flow through the vlve into the to the system piping. The BERMAD Moel 42T reuces wter pressure utomticlly n ccurtely from higher inlet vlue to lower set outlet vlue. It opertes uner both flow (Fig 2b) n non-flow (sttic) conitions (Fig 2). The pressure-reucing pilot vlve [3] senses chnges in outlet pressure n moultes pressure in min vlve control chmber [1] to mintin the set outlet pressure. When outlet pressure rises bove the set pressure: The pilot vlve throttles cusing wter pressure to ccumulte in the control chmber (1) by wy of the restriction orifice (2). This forces the min vlve to close further n reuce outlet pressure. When outlet pressure flls below the set pressure: The pilot vlve opens wier thn the pssge presente by the restriction orifice, enbling more wter to exit the vlve control chmber vi the pilot thn cn enter by wy of the restriction orifice, relesing pressure from the control chmber. This cuses the min vlve to open wier n thus increse outlet pressure. The restriction orifice lso controls the vlve s closing spee. For vlves 8 n lrger n justble neele vlve is provie. Uner FIRE with conitions, Mnul wter pressure Reset is relese from the control chmber, either with the mnul emergency relese [6], or by the URV-M switching to the relese position in response to the solenoi vlve being ctivte. Uner FIRE conitions (Fig 3b), wter pressure is relese from the control chmber, either with the mnul emergency relese, or by the URV opening utomticlly in response to ecrese in pneumtic pilot-line pressure. This opens the 400Y eluge vlve, llowing wter 23.07.13 to flow into the system piping n to the lrm evice. FP 400Y Instlltion, Opertion & Mintnence The correct opertion of the BERMAD 400Y Deluge Vlves epens upon instlltion in ccornce with the pprove trim configurtion. The 400Y vlve must be trimme with the correct trim components n ccessories, n must be instlle n mintine in complince with the most recent BERMAD publictions. Any evition in trim size or rrngement my versely ffect the correct opertion of the eluge vlve. Wrning: The eluge vlve n trim must be instlle in res where they re not subjecte to freezing tempertures. Instlltion Instructions 1. Allow enough room roun the vlve ssembly for ny justments n future mintennce. 2. Before the vlve is instlle, flush the pipeline to remove ny irt, scle, ebris, etc. 3. Instll the vlve in the pipeline with vlve flow rrow on the boy pointing in the flow irection. 4. Ensure tht ll other components re positione correctly s per the pproprite rwing. 5. The wter supply priming line must be connecte to the upstrem of the system control vlve. 6. All itionl ccessories, lthough not pcke together with the BERMAD Deluge Vlve, must be instlle s shown in the relevnt rwing n other illustrtions. 7. After instlltion in the min line, crefully inspect/correct ny mge ccessories, piping, tubing, or fittings; ensure tht there re no leks. Swivel flnge mounte rin vlves justment The rin vlves on most Torrent 400Y moels hve 360 swivel cpbility To position the rin vlves, loosen the 3 bolts on the rin flnge just enough so s to llow the rins to be positione to the most suitble irection for the prticulr instlltion. When the position is estblishe, retighten the rin flnge bolts. For vlves 1½ & 2 the rin vlves re ¾ i For vlves 2½ & 3 the rin vlves re 1½ i For vlves lrger thn 3 the rin vlves re 2 i Plcing in Service/Resetting The eluge vlve n the control trim shll be plce in service in ccornce to the most recent IOM mnul. After ll relevnt instructions hve been performe, slowly open the supply-isolting vlve n check tht no wter flows into the system ownstrem of the BERMAD eluge vlve. If utomtic fire lrm signling equipment is utilize, the proper uthority the insuring boy n owners representtive shoul be notifie tht the system is being remove from service. 1. Shut off the min supply-isolting vlve. 2. Close the priming line vlve to the eluge vlve control chmber. 3. Open ll rin vlves to rin ll the wter from the system. 4. Relese the wter pressure from the control chmber of the eluge vlve by pulling the mnul emergency relese, or by tripping the electricl circuit (e-energize the Solenoi Vlve) 5. If uxiliry power is use, isconnect ll power supply n btteries. 6. Plce Fire Protection System Out of Service signs in the re protecte by the system Inspection n Testing Note: Refer to the IOM for the relevnt vlve moel WARNING: Do not turn the wter supply off to mke repirs without plcing roving fire ptrol in the re covere by the system. A perioic test scheule shoul be estblishe lso with ccornce with the site conitions n owner regultions. 2. Tke ll itionl mesures s require by NFPA-25 stnr for the inspection, testing, n mintennce of wter-bse fire protection systems. 3. The system shoul be checke weekly for Norml Conitions. 4. Clen the priming striner prior to ny resetting of the eluge vlve. 5. The eluge vlve must be ctivte t full flow t lest nnully. Tke ll necessry precutions to rin wter n prevent mge in the re protecte by the system. 6. After bout five yers of opertion, full inspection is recommene. Remove the cover, clen the vlve boy from seiments, clen the control tubing entry holes, n if neee instll new iphrgm ssembly. Inspection n Mintennce For routine inspection n mintennce, ccess to the only moving prt of the vlve (the iphrgm unit) n complete ccess to the internl of the vlve cn be one by removing the four cover bolts (1½ to 6 ) or six cover bolts (8 n lrger), inline n without removing of the trim.
