Going after a fifth straight MAC East title, the Golden Flashes have posted a 15-6 record since March 5. During that span senior pitcher Kylie Reynolds is 10-3 with four saves and a 1.49 ERA, while averaging 1.54 strikeouts per inning. At the plate, KSU has already matched its home run total of 30 from last season. Live Stats Live stats for both games will be available at www.kentstatesports.com. Archual Setting The Table Senior center fielder and leadoff batter Leah Archual is hitting.467 (7-for-15) in four MAC games with a double and four runs scored. She recorded a pair of hits in all three of Kent State s victories last weekend and has hit safely in her last five games. In a 2-1 win over Western Michigan, Archual led off the sixth inning with a single that ignited a pivotal two-run rally. Since the beginning of March, Archual is hitting.355 with 19 runs scored and five extra base hits. The Golden Flashes are 12-3 in games when Archual scores a run and 4-12 when she does not cross home plate. Top Five Flourishing The one through five hitters have been the strength of KSU s lineup (Leah Archual, Lauren Grimes, Beth Cinadr, Jess Carmichael, Ashlee Hein) over the past 12 games, hitting a combined.349 (67-for-192) during that span. Batting in the two-spot, Grimes is hitting.450 (18-for-40) over her last 12 games with four home runs, two doubles, 11 RBI, 17 runs scored and three stolen bases. Cinadr has piled up five doubles in 12 games with three home runs, nine runs scored and a.438 on-base percentage. Hein carries a.452 on-base percentage in her last 12 games with eight RBI. Hitting in the cleanup spot, Carmichael has belted four home runs in her last 10 games. In the 12-game span she is batting.297 with 13 RBI and two doubles. Archual is batting.364 over the last 12 games. She has tripled and scored 12 runs. Bottom Four Struggling Five players (Jess Blanton, Amy Hair, Mary Holt, Heather Duhon, Lauren Brocklehurst) have started in the six through nine spots in the lineup over the last 12 games, combining for a.144 batting average during that time. The Opposition Buffalo- The Bulls split games at Western Michigan and Northern Illinois last weekend. The win over NIU was Buffalo s first since 2005. Senior pitcher Sharon Barr earned both wins last weekend. Barr ranks fourth in the MAC in victories (9) and fifth in strikeouts (83). She did not allow an earned run in a complete game win over Western Michigan last Friday. Sophomore hurler Terese Diaz has made 10 starts on the year and can also help her own cause at the plate. She has hit three homers and two doubles. Sophomore Kristin Waldorn is fourth in the MAC in hits. She is batting.327 and leads the team in doubles (4), triples (3), runs scored (13) and RBI (14).
